A good tip I've seen: during cohozuna, the eggs can take out bosses way faster than you. Use 2 eggs for cohozuna and the last one to take out any bosses, that way you keep getting 3 eegs for the price of one.
Actually, some weapons have high enough dps that it's better to utilize your main weapon to attack cohozun and use eggs to attack any other bosses, you can still use the eggs to attack cohozuna along with your main weapon of course but some specfic weapons like hydra, dapple dailies, dynamo, liter and a few others have high dps so they can deal significant damage to cohozuna eleven without eggs.
A tip I've seen for Cohazuna: the highest DPS should hard focus Cohazuna, a full charge E-Liter shot can do damage on par with an egg but a lot more consistently.
@@temlikespienotcake8544 damage per second. Basically how quick you deal damage over time. E-liter has similar damage to egg Canon (600 per full charge shot) so it should focus on chozuna as it can deal similar damage but consistently without eggs
This is true but not exactly for E-liter. Although e-liter has fantastic damage its dps is rather average due to charge time, and then you have to worry about positioning and ink management. In fact it's only slightly better than a splattershot's dps. Not to say its bad at focusing on cohozuna, but other weapons like splatlings, dualies and sploosh have higher dps and are less restricting.
Great tips but more stuff I wish people would know: - Stay out of the shore unless absolutely necessary (Big Shot, Fly Fish, Stinger). If a longer range weapon like squelchers and splatlings can reach them, they should try take care of them. Others can also throw bombs at Stingers. If not, at least go with one other person and don't hoard eggs there. Throw one and grab one if needed. - A higher priority should be placed on inking the walls as they are they most important escape routes you'll have. Being on higher ground is generally better (which is why you should stay out of the pits in Spawning and Gone Fission unless you have a good roller/team clearing the floor). - The lure eggs advice was in the video but if people could stop killing maws, scrapers, flipper floppers, goldies and steelheads at the shore that would be great - Rollers other than carbon rollers, please roll. Only flick if you are in a good position for a boss or jump flick if no one is taking care of that Steelhead. Esp Dynamo Roller it is a beast in SR, though it would be good if a more mobile weapon can support it. Plan your rolls esp for Dynamo. Please don't play roller like one would in Anarchy/Turf - Chargers please think about what you want to shoot and plan it, and generally hang back more (ideally on higher ground) and support your team - There is a box at the very left side of the training area next to the monitor. You can change the current weapons in the rotation there and test them. Get used to the weapons a little before queuing esp with randoms - Cohozuna will follow one person, usually the person hitting at it the most at the moment, so the most mobile weapon should ideally lead it a bit away from your team mates and bosses but not too far. On low tide you can lead it to base where the bosses aren't at first while others clear the bosses then you can lead it back when it's more clear - Also if you have a high damage weapon like a Hydra Splatling or an E-liter etc, keep shooting at the Cohozuna. If you don't have any eggs on you, everyone else should also keep shooting at it anyway. Just try to keep a DPS up. - You can also lure Cohozuna back and forth with two players by having each person stand on the opposite site of it and take turns shooting - I know the Big Shot cannon is great but you don't need 3-4 people at it to shoot all the eggs. Ideally two others should head back to the basket and put the eggs in because if everyone spent all that time sending all the eggs back to the basket with no one to receive them, you'll come back with the eggs being carted off into the sky by salmonids - Keep moving, keep on a lookout for bosses - Communicate. Use This Way when you see priority bosses or need help putting in eggs. Listen to your team mates. Don't be afraid to use "Help" but don't just sit there expecting your team mate to fight their way through to you, likely on low ink. Make it easier for them by crawling to them (grab an egg on the way if you can) - Using specials to get out of a pinch is great, but sometimes using specials when you know shit's gonna go down is even better. Like if you see Stingers, Big Shots and Fly Fish that are far away. (Thinking of the four Flyfish that spawned one on each side of the map once) - Have fun, and just be a nice team mate (Booyahing back is always nice)
One time I played with some random ppl and it was a high tide all teammates expect me died bc they're on the low ground If I die the round would end before even start-
Don’t forget that during the king wave that the egg gun deals roughly 600-700 damage and can obliterate most bosses in one shot, so when you kill a boss use 2 on the big boi and spare one for a particularly annoying boss, like drizzlers or scrapers
My tip to everyone is DONT WAIT FOR THE LAST 15 SECONDS OF A ROUND TO USE YOUR SPECIAL. If you're gonna lose a round because you dint have eggs/are being overwhelmed by salmonids. USE YOUR SPECIAL AT THE FIRST SIGN OF THIS not when it's too late. Especially in wave 3. Like there's no reason you shouldn't use your specials in wave 3. Use them at any point in time when you think it'll be beneficial.
Omg this!!! I’ve been teamed up with people who NEVER use their specials yet will be surrounded by salmondis and end up dying. The basket will be missing about 2 eggs and we’ll have like 40/30 secs left. Since I’m the only one left, all the salmonids would come to me and i’d have to either sacrifice myself to save my teammates or risk dying bc I have no help in defeating the salmonids coming after me. I really think some people forget or don’t realize they have specials that they can use
@@dxmayahI am guilty of this, I forget we are given specials and only realize this we are once we are being overrun and im panicking to find someway out- Will try and be more mindful of that though ~_~
Dynamo: Dyna roll does 400 damage, allowing it to run over all lesser salmon, combine with the flick itself u can one shot eel and scrapper, u can also one cycle maw or deal massive damage to chohozona if there's a wall behind u, and insta kill big shots when it's walking towards u, use the vertical flick to kill steal heads as that flick does 300 damage max(horizontal does less for some reason) It's is very helpful in glowflies BUT it CAN NOT oneshot a goldie as it has 600 hp(if u don't one shot with a roll u will get knocked back), so other weapons still have to help chipping down the goldies so the chums won't break through the choke point ur trying to hold
1 simple tip is: GET TO HIGHER GROUND. Most salmon like steelhead or scrapper can’t climb small ledges. Most of them have to walk up slopes to reach you. Being higher up offers multiple advantages during a run. 1. You can observe more of the map to see where enemies are coming from. 2. It takes longer for the salmon to reach you. 3. It’s easier to take down taller enemies (slamming lids, steelhead, fishstick, etc). 4. Being higher up reduces the risk of being surrounded. Note: make sure you have a escape root if your force to move.
One thing that I haven’t seen people mention much is that flipper flop armor does not respawn. If you can ink the zone once to break the armor, but for some reason aren’t able to kill it, you don’t have to ink it again as you can deal full damage to it with every weapon midair and kill it basically instantly.
HUGE TIP NOT MANY PEOPLE MAY KNOW: YOU ONLY GET ONE SPECIAL DURING CHOZUNA, SO EVEN IF YOU HAVE NO SPECIAL AFTER WAVE 3 OR HAD BOTH AT THE END, YOU WILL STILL ONLY HAVE 1 SPECIAL AT CHOZUNA! Dont hesitate to use specials!
Tip - make sure you use your specials before wave 3 ends as you get them for free ( I've seen so many people using specials after wave 3 when they are pretty much useless) so always use your two free specials
You are guaranteed one free special at the start of xtrawave if that was your concern which is why I still go by use the two free specials you receive because they are useless after wave 3 unless there’s an xtra wave which is never guaranteed to happen every time you play salmon run so use your two anyway
@@TimTheGreat1125 It literally says in the manual that special abilities are divided among coworkers in extra round. also you can tell when you will get a cohozuna round when your cohozuna meter is full in the lobby.
I saw a tip yesterday that blue flyfish lid sends missiles that target all players and the red lid sends missiles that target only the closest player. So getting rid of the blue side first is the best to protect your team
Bonus fact (I don’t wanna ruin the 33 meaning): Dynamo roller is HELLA useful, and the best weapon for rush mode. When given the chance, slightly push the control stick to move at a slow pace, but still in motion to annihilate the rushing salmonids moving towards you. Try not to do this in tight spaces, as some salmonids will go around your dynamo roller, and rush you to death.
Here’s a personal tip. Try to travel in pairs specially when you’re going to venture by the shorelines to kill big shots/stingers so in case one person dies the other can revive/kill the boss. Of course don’t linger in the cannon’s vicinity as you will most likely get swarmed. This tip is useful as well if the charger weapon in the rotation can’t deal with lessers so at least they can deal with steelheads/lids easier without having to worry about being disrupted.
Something I've noticed is that they changed the tide warnings in Splatoon 3 to make them easier to notice. In Splatoon 2, I'd watch the actual water to find out how high it would be because I didn't notice that it tells you at the beginning of the match, and I'm so glad they made the warning stand out more. Small change, but a great improvement.
Grizzco stringer does more than 999.9 damage, thats just the cap on damage for the training targets, you can see this with the big targets in the lobby
@@Inmortuae2233 I don't think it's by too much. But I do find that when I squid roll, especially with an egg, I'm able to egg throw right away or really fast compared to just picking it up and continuing to swim. That little bit, for me ,has been enough to help save runs so I thought I'd share.
this might have been said already, but a consistent way to know if cohozuna will spawn is if the countdown on wave 3 says "wave 3 will begin in..." or "final wave will begin in..." if it says "wave 3", you have a xtrawave coming.
You can throw eggs and any lesser salmons in close range will go down, at least up to cohock. You can chip damage him though. Sometimes I toss the eggs to the basket but wait an extra moment or two so I can clip salmons swarming me or my teammates nearby.
6:13 Maybe not entirely true. Normally if a crew is wiped Grizz won't call off the shift until all active ink projectiles, splat bombs, and specials are used up, but I guess because of how long the Wavebreaker lasts the game won't delay the shift ending prematurely. I had a moment where I was the last alive and tossed the Wavebreaker before falling into a hoard of Salmonids. I got splatted and the shift immediately ended despite the Wavebreaker being activated, and before it cut to the results screen I even heard one of my teammates get revived from it. It really makes no sense why the Wavebreaker has this weird exception of not delaying a crew wipe.
also a good tip is when you're in a wave where a goldie is hiding in the gushers, if you have a roller for a weapon, stand in front of the goalie with the roller down. you can get loads of eggs just by doing that. But i recommend doing it near the basket, if possible. And for the love of god, STOP WATING UNTIL THE LAST SECOND TO PUT EGGS IN THE BASKET, WHEN YOU SEE ONE, PUT IT IN ASAP. its better to have eggs in the basket nowhere near the quota then to have them scattered around and possibly stolen. i see way to many ppl do this and Mr.grizz is cutting my pay. I'm gonna end up living in a cardboard box :[
l have a tip for whenever the rush event happens - First, you'll need to get to the highest level of ground on whatever stage you're playing on. And make sure to ink the walls of said wall, this will be useful later. If the glowfiles start targeting you, hop on said wall and stay on there for as long as possible. The salmonids will get stuck trying to target you giving the chance for the other workers to clear them out. But please don't stay on the wall for too long otherwise they'll start to jump to reach you. to combat that, repositioning yourself between solid ground and wall helps IMMENSELY. because it'll make the salmonids chase you the longer way around and take the slower route. Hope this helps! Edit- l take this back. On sockeye, staying on the ground, not wallclinging helps you and your team because the eggs are very hard to grab the eggs when the player with glowfiles being swarmed by a ton of lessers. Who knew that wallclinging could be the bad thing to do there?
5:05 wall clinging should generally only be used as a last resort or to buy time for your teammates to recover/distribute eggs PLEASE do not use wall clinging as your main strat for glowflies as all it does it make eggs much harder to get as it will all be stuck in one place (where the salmonids are)
another tip I saw is when targeted by a flyfish tenta missles, the little indicator of how many are on you also is like an arrow to where the flyfish is
Actually, my advice ties in with Tip #23. During a Cohock Charge, I've found it's always best to have two people stay on cannons while the other two grab the eggs. I know this can be harder during Singles because there's less coordination, but fewer things send a Cohock Charge straight to hell faster than someone who was originally on a cannon deciding they want to be greedy and just go into business for themselves.
As a note about tip 33: its if you launch the shield while airborne and it hits a high health opponent (eg a cohock) so try to be on the ground when launching it
Another way to tell if a King Salmonid is going to show up is whether or not the saving symbol shows up in the bottom left corner of the screen; save icon means no extra round, no save icon means yes extra round.
1 thing that I always want to tell people, (but can't cuz no friends) is that it doesn't matter if you're a pro that can kill 10 bosses in a second, you still can only carry 1 egg.
Throwing your egg emits a small ink blast around you that easily takes out smallfry and regular salmonids so don’t be afraid to throw an egg when you are being swarmed
One good tip is that some weapons dont have the mobility to both kill bosses and run eggs (hydra cough) so bring bosses too them to kill near basket is a really good strat and killing static bosses (stinger flyfish big shots) is a good priority especially on high tide where they are within arms reach of any weapon. Though my biggest gripe is that using a wall is safe but inefficient for getting eggs. Try staying near the basket and focus fire while not body blocking your crew. Going on the wall cuts your dps a lot and thats one less person killing and delivering. Using specials like jet and booyah (stall with booyah dont let it go as soon as its charged) is a good way to keep everyone alive if that person is targeted. The glowflies do change on a predictable timer unless you die so keeping everyone together is a good way to not have a person delivering eggs and be targeted out of the blue and instantly dying.
some things that i do and my advice and tips: (also if i make any substance updates ill put an "EDIT:" marker) if you are a charger or splatling or long ranged weapon, using the fish stick as a perch is op ESPECIALLY on spawning grounds and gone fishin hydroplant due to their lack of substantial high ground (nintendo please) just keep in mind that maws CAN go up it but still, its wonderful ive also seen that the weapon loadout really matters for killing cohuzuna and also, use them specials if youve somehow forgotten or just simply havent used them by wave three, just use them in wave three wave three is typically the hardest and most stressful so you should at least use it at all i know that it can definitely matter, even if you dont really notice it, in getting a win also remember that killer wail can kill any boss from anywhere, namely flyfish (it goes thru its little glass dome, even if not opening its missle crates) and stinger (especially if youre its target) stinger can also be killed early as its coming up to shore like steel eel its very helpful due to how much of a pain in the ass it can be global range bosses should also be priority in xtrawave due to: mobility (esp flyfish and stingers), and simply bc they can get you from anywhere and that effect really shows even more in xtrawave i play salmon run a LOT, ibe played nearly every day since splatoon 2 so i consider myself experienced. and also keep in mind that new bosses *might* be coming to them game. at least king bosses. as well as big run too! thats all i can think of so thats all, bye! EDIT: yeah i already thought of more things keep in mind that every big shot that spawns goes to the same basket going up on walls and then going up onto the higher ground (easier with grates, like the high ground on sockeye or the bridge on hydroplant) distracts the salmon and can be useful to reset the timer of salmonids jumping up at you chargers, if youre skilled, can easily revive people bombs are really useful for getting yourself out of *anything* like if youre being attacked by many regular enemies like if u cant necessarily just shoot at them (esp cohocks) if the mothership comes, if u have an egg on you, put it in the basket after it leaves to give a headstart on refilling any lost eggs since the ship takes eggs relatively fast and can easily kill a run if left unchecked. the slight extra help can really matter goldies leave behind more eggs depending on what kills it, i believe. it mostly depends on how powerful the weapon that kills it is but that might be just a thing in two but i think its still around sometimes in goldie seeking, when the goldie hops into another gusher, where it is next can just be that gusher that it just hopped into, as it isnt always a different gusher. fuckin trickster always "this way" when uve come across a large sum of eggs (esp in solo queue/not with friends in vc or something). not necessarily just to bring them there bc not all weaponsvare viable to retrieve eggs but to let them know its there "this way"ing can also let your teammates know that youre in trouble not really a gameplay thing but booyahing back and also booyahing in general (preferably at the start of the game and in between rounds) lifts spirits and is generally friendly culture. like saying "hiya" or something idk its just, imo, makes it feel like im not playing with cpus? just dont like, do it the entire 10 second downtime between rounds bc that wastes time its something i do out of habit at least squidpartying the entire time achieves nothing though ok this is the real end this time, im glad i could share my knowledge to the few who may see this bye! :)
The wall trick does NOT work on Fission Plant. All the walls are too low, yes including the bridge grate one. Also there are some weapons that do so much DPS to Cohozuna that you're able to dish out comparable damage to him by shooting and strafing vs egg hunting. That first week with the Grizzco Stringer had my first Cohozuna win and I ended up getting several because that weapon shreds through everything, big guy included.
It also shouldn't be used on Spawning Grounds (save for special circumstances), even though that wall is higher. The eggs down there will be harder to get, and you will have 3 people attacking instead of 4.
With the flipper flopper, its armour doesn't regen when it goes into the ink, that means you can break it, when it first lands, and then kill it in a more favourable position closer to the egg basket, even with a weaker or short range weapon.
My pro tip. if you have some "free time" or rather you arent being overrun at the moment, and you get targeted by tenta missiles, or see an ink storm coming down. please go find that drizzler and flyfish, PLEASE!
Some people aren't aware that their ink does not travel through their teammates during friendly fire, it gets blocked. So if you are mindlessly shooting into a crowd of salmon be sure you're not just shooting into the back of your teammate. Similarly, if your teammate has a splatling and is trying to wipe out some enemies dont mindlessly walk in front of their shot either
I wouldn't say always for number #7. Staying by the big shot canons too much will get you killed as new salmonids will spawn all around and trap you against the shoreline. I've lost many games to crew mates going down for staying at the big shot canon too long. What you should actually do is shoot off as many eggs as you can and as soon as it starts to get a little big hairy you leave the rest behind.
don’t get greedy either during a fog wave; if there’s loads of eggs near the basket everyone tends to ignore all other bosses causing us to get overwhelmed, instead split up so 2 people handle the bosses and the other 2 handle the eggs
I would not suggest staying on the wall. They can jump, you know. I would probably suggest staying near the basket for Sockeye, but this really does depend during the stage
one small tidbit in salmon run that I'm not sure ANYONE has found out ( and that I found out completely by accident ) is that throwing power eggs ( non xtrawave ) can oneshot smallfry and chums ! it has a very small hitbox but great for when you're overwhelmed by smaller enemies. HOWEVER, it does not oneshot the cohocks and does waste ink so find the right moment to throw and plan carefully, especially if you have ink guzzling weapons like the dynamo or blaster. try it out in practice :D
1) During the tornado, If your timing is good when shooting the eggs, you can harm the salmonoids (and the eggs will go through them at the same time). 2) When you shoot with the cannons or with weapons like the blasters, you can create chain reactions, for instance, aim to an enemy BEHIND the scrapper, and the blast will damage the scrapper from behind. 3) You can throw a bomb to the last section of the Steel Eels (not the driver) and this will cause the bomb to explode immediately, damaging the driver of the Steel eel and whatever Salmonoids are close to it. 4) You can booyah! even if you are down in your lifesaver, hence if a player is using booyah bomb and you are down, you can still help him to accumulate power for the booyah bomb to be ready asap, before any salmonoid dares to put him down (this is very important specially when there is only one player remaining). 5) If you got splatted far from your teammates, climb your ass up to the nest or close to your teammates, make it easier for them to reactivate you. 6) If you are splatted, don't go with the crowd of salmonoids, think about an open space where your teammates can reactivate you easily, don't hide behind walls, in between steel eels, nor covered by force field of the slammin' lid. 7) Few seconds left, and still need to collect 3-5 golden eggs, guess what is priority? so don't use specials like the jet pack at this point, since is not going to help you to collect eggs, this is when is very important to have walls painted, specially close to the nest to make your way through enemies (no time to splat them), and to reach the quota. 8) Watch the clock and the counter of eggs often, is very important to have an idea about these 2 things. 9) Small fries are sneaky, and normally come in 3s, don't try to get rid of them from too close, get away from them a little bit, and then give them the ink they are asking for.
Heres a thing I've noticed: with Goldies, you can actually see which gusher its hidden in when it goes back in after being found. If the gusher it just went into was open previously, theres a bright shine behind it when it closes. I'm not sure if this is a normal thing but its something i noticed once and found it immediately. Its easy to miss if your not looking in the right direction but something to keep in mind.
At prof and higher, spawn rates are high enough that you don't have to collect every egg. At least one egg per boss will help keep you from getting overrun.
I'll add a tip to the pot : Crab Tank's rapid fiire (not missiles) is the best DPS of the mode. If you have it during an Xtrawave, against any King type, use it exclusively on them, it shreds their HP bar, and makes winning a much more likely result. Oh, and know when to activate it. Usually during the start of the wave so the Stingers and Flyfish don't pile up, but not TOO early so that an early Maws don't come disturbing your firing.
More tips: Rollers can be rolled into goldies and big shots as they move to deal a lot more damage. They are very great at clearing lessers. During rush/glowflies, all of the rollers can take out chums by rolling, even by the carbon roller, slowly walking while rolling uses very little ink but will still obliterate rush chums. If all of your team dies but you throw out a bomb, the game won't end until the bomb explodes. Use this as a last ditch effort, especially if using the wave breaker (because the game will still end if a wave breaker is out, but throwing a bomb with it will give it time to revive someone). You can jump forward while throwing a bomb to throw it farther, good for taking out bosses (especially Flyfish) or reviving teammates. This also works with eggs which can be useful during the extra wave. If you use the inkjet or crab tank against the flyfish, there's a spot in between the lids (so above the basket) that will take out both baskets. Flyfish attack 2 people, 1 is randomly decided, and the other is whoever is closest. If you can't take out both baskets, it is alright to take out at least one. A lot of Griller strategies take advantage of how slow they are to turn around corners. It is important that somebody kills the smallfries during grillers. You can block your teammate's shots by being in front of them, make sure not to block shots or that your shots aren't being blocked by repositioning yourself. The elevators on Marooner's Bay (and the tiny bit of wall between the grates near the basket), that huge ledge near the basket on Spawning Grounds (and the wall of the platform behind it that faces it), the tower on Sockeye, and the platforms you use for Rush (back to the left and the wall of the platform in front of it) and Grillers (in front and to the right of the basket) on Hydroplant are the most important areas to paint. Keep the basket area clear. Be sure that if people are using the big shot cannons to fire eggs near the basket, someone is there to collect those eggs before snatchers can take them. Snatchers leave the way they came. If they fly past the basket on the way to collect an egg, they will pass the basket as they leave. This can be utilized to your advantage: keep an eye on snatchers and don't kill the ones that are going towards or will be going towards the basket until they arrive at the basket (unless you are in a situation where you don't think you will have the time/luxury to wait for it and kill it).
I’ve seen so many people refrain from throwing golden eggs on cohozuna, the eggs don’t take any ink to throw, I’ve lost to cohozuna a good 7 times because my team wouldn’t throw golden eggs, and I’m still not done, when people throw eggs they always throw 3 a cohozuna, I personally throw 2 at cohozuna and 1 to kill a boss like you said, as-well as Maining cohozuna if I get a high DPS weapon like ballpoint splatling or E-liter
1. Grizzco Stringer does 1350 damage at point-blank range. Dummies are just capped at 999.9. This means that with one pre-charged shot and one partial it deals more damage more quickly than Grizzco Charger 2. Throwing eggs does 100 damage so it can take out lesser salmonids and badly damaged bosses 3. E-liter can be used as a "cannon" during Cohock Charge as it can pierce through multiple Cohocks. Same with Dynamo - although not recommended, if you can handle it well, you can actually run eggs in this mode
I remember loving this mode in Splatoon 2. Havent gotten 3 yet since i use my switch too little to justify the online service sub, but the inclusion of a from what i hear permanent salmon run has me excited
Tip: use your specials It’s so infuriating when we barely survive the final wave (especially if it’s glowflies) and several teammates use their specials to celebrate
A few days before I saw this video I realized you have an ink tank on your back in salmon run. I've been playing salmon run for months now how did I not see 😭😭😭😭😭
Don't be afraid to use your specials. Also, use your splat bombs for dealing with large groups of salmonids if your main weapon can't! (While keeping an eye on your ink tank, of course.) Also, it's helpful to learn how to sub-strafe, squid roll, and to use the camera reset button (X) not just for resetting the gyro, but also to quickly snap the camera around up to 180 degrees.
I'm pretty sure the Grizzco Stringer actually deals around 1300 damage, but the dummies can't register that much damage. Even better for bosses with huge HP!
i do sorta agree with the big shot cannon tip HOWEVER... camping there and killing every boss at the cannon is not a good idea !! if you become overwhelmed either by the bosses or lessers you can easily become taken out. also, the area around the egg basket will become full with eggs which may seem like a good thing, but it really isnt. taking all that time just to deposit eggs is dangerous as bosses spawning near the shore can stack up and end up wiping your team. i would say go to the cannon, take out any big shots and maybe one other boss if it is there, shoot the eggs into the cannon and just go back to the basket.
Here's a tip: Don't immediately kill fish sticks if they are midair. wait until they drill down and then kill them. Just like in Star Wars, high ground is useful.
2 little things that are not actual correct, 1. Tipp #24 the wall is a good place if only 2 teammates are alive but not to play the wave its only a way to escape, because if you are on a wall you cant shot so only 3 weapons dealimg damage. The best way is to go on a higher position with one way up so the salmons has to come from one side. Than you have only to shot with youre team and the wave is one of the easyst waves. 2. Tipp: #32 if you have a weapon wich is dealing much damage you have to foces on the cohozuna and not to defeate bosses. Examples: eliter, grizzco stinger, heavy roller (idk whats the name in english) they are dealing lot of damage and you dont have to collect gold eggs. Eliter-damage: 600 per shot, Golden Egg-damager: 900.
Great tips. After 10,000 Salmon Run matches, I never noticed the soup ladle knocking me off the slamming lid lol. Folks, PLEASE use your specials in round 3. And don't waste them earlier unless u must do so! I see way too many matches ending with 4 or more specials NOT used. :(
Comment for algorithm Also, on Big Shot. The cannon is useful! BUT don't have 3 or 4 of you camping it to launch eggs. Snatchers will come by very quickly to steal them if you don't have someone delivering them to the basket soonish.
I’m just gonna tell you something random- So the first wave was high tide and a fly fish came, one of the dizzlers (I forgot how to spell it) rain thingy knocked out the fly fish- this probably makes no sense-
Last tip was my favorite💥💞 Btw, I heard that a golden egg makes arount 700 da aga on cohozuna, so if you have a charger that makes 600 damage at once you can concentrate on shooting the cohozuna
#7: HARD disagree. Please please please, do NOT overcommit to the Big Shot cannon, it is not "free" eggs. I have seen teams survive a full 3-flyfish onslaught, I've seen people survive being targeted by multiple stingers, but I have never seen someone survive sticking around the cannon for too long. Its tempting to drop the Big Shot's eggs in the cannon since you're right there, and hey look, a stinger spawned right here, I can take care of it and drop its eggs in the cannon, and... you're dead. Because you're right by the shore, lesser salmon spawn right on top of you, or a boss you can't handle like a Steel Eel, and you get overrun almost instantly. If the coast is clear, drop the eggs in the cannon. But if there are more bosses spawning, that means more lesser salmonid are spawning, and if you don't have a teammate with you, you cannot handle the onslaught alone. Drop one or two eggs in the cannon, grab a third, and GO. Get back to the basket. The time you spend dead, not killing salmon or delivering eggs, and the time your teammate spends reviving you, is worth more than a couple of eggs in the baskets vicinity.
Thank you. I just found out that the cap of legend released and I hadn't touched salmon run and being a bamboozler main I need to get it although getting those 30 golden fish scales will be hard
Another thing I just realized: the dummies in the salmon run training room have stickers on them to show the amount of HP those bosses have. Ex: the dummy on the upper left has a sticker of a steelhead on it, letting you practice hitting its head!
When playing against king salmeniod remember that some specials such as wave breaker triple ink strick and killer whale 5.1 and ink jet are specials that are good at taking out many bosses at once use them on bosses instead of cohozuna while booyah bomb and crab tank focuses on attacking cohozuna also when you have crab try to deploy it as soon as possible before the stage gets to over crowded and becomes to risky to use
The most important tip I have is to shoot the salmonids off your teammates. Especially those with splatlings or chargers - they can do a lot of work if you create space for them, as these weapons are bad at that by themselves.
If you are reading this: ditch the wallclinging strategy 90% of the time. Especially on Hydroplant and Spawning Grounds (if you have been wallclinging on Marooner's Bay, I'm honestly impressed). Clinging to the wall is very controversial advice. This is because it lowers the number of people attacking from 4 to 3, and it often puts eggs in a hard to reach spot. There are better strategies and positions that involve funneling salmonids through a chokepoint, and on most maps, they are way more effective than wallclinging (and don't require you to waste a special). I am of the opinion that you should never do it on Hydroplant (the best spot is the ledge that is in the back towards the left, if you wallcling near the front in freelance in most scenarios, you might as well be throwing the match), and that if you are targeted on Spawning Grounds, you should stay on the ledge near the basket, only wallclinging when that ledge is overwhelmed. Compared to the non-wallcling strat (staying on the ramp to the right of the basket), the Sockeye wallcling strategy isn't as bad. This is the only map where I think wallclinging when you are targeted is acceptable, unless everyone else on your team is near the basket, then you should join them.
I realized the other day that during Cohozuna, when you throw eggs, the egg canon DOESN'T take ink like throwing it does. I just thought the egg canon was to make the eggs into weapons, so I didn't realize this until way way later on ._.
Another tip: If you fail on round 3, you won't lose pay grade, so it's best to use specials to get out of bad situations on wave 1 and 2, rather than hogging them for wave 3.
5:13 I remember one of my teammates did this except he used a ride rail in the bonerattle arena. He just hovered over the salmoids inside the rail while the rest picked up golden eggs
And it doesn't take your ink so you can do this repeatedly.
i do this, if only my teammates knew about this strat
Not recommended on Big Shots
@@Danny328DT or maws
A tip I've seen for Cohazuna: the highest DPS should hard focus Cohazuna, a full charge E-Liter shot can do damage on par with an egg but a lot more consistently.
Ohh, I see! ^^ I didn't know that, thanks for the info!
wha is a dps
Yeah the first time I beat cohozuna was because I had grizzco charger and just fully focused on cohozuna
Great tips but more stuff I wish people would know:
- Stay out of the shore unless absolutely necessary (Big Shot, Fly Fish, Stinger).
- The lure eggs advice was in the video but if people could stop killing maws, scrapers, flipper floppers, goldies and steelheads at the shore that would be great
- Rollers other than carbon rollers, please roll. Only flick if you are in a good position for a boss or jump flick if no one is taking care of that Steelhead. Esp Dynamo Roller it is a beast in SR, though it would be good if a more mobile weapon can support it. Plan your rolls esp for Dynamo. Please don't play roller like one would in Anarchy/Turf
- Chargers please think about what you want to shoot and plan it, and generally hang back more (ideally on higher ground) and support your team
- There is a box at the very left side of the training area next to the monitor. You can change the current weapons in the rotation there and test them. Get used to the weapons a little before queuing esp with randoms
- Cohozuna will follow one person, usually the person hitting at it the most at the moment, so the most mobile weapon should ideally lead it a bit away from your team mates and bosses but not too far. On low tide you can lead it to base where the bosses aren't at first while others clear the bosses then you can lead it back when it's more clear
- Also if you have a high damage weapon like a Hydra Splatling or an E-liter etc, keep shooting at the Cohozuna. If you don't have any eggs on you, everyone else should also keep shooting at it anyway. Just try to keep a DPS up.
- You can also lure Cohozuna back and forth with two players by having each person stand on the opposite site of it and take turns shooting
- I know the Big Shot cannon is great but you don't need 3-4 people at it to shoot all the eggs. Ideally two others should head back to the basket and put the eggs in because if everyone spent all that time sending all the eggs back to the basket with no one to receive them, you'll come back with the eggs being carted off into the sky by salmonids
- Keep moving, keep on a lookout for bosses
- Communicate. Use This Way when you see priority bosses or need help putting in eggs. Listen to your team mates. Don't be afraid to use "Help" but don't just sit there expecting your team mate to fight their way through to you, likely on low ink. Make it easier for them by crawling to them (grab an egg on the way if you can)
- Using specials to get out of a pinch is great, but sometimes using specials when you know shit's gonna go down is even better. Like if you see Stingers, Big Shots and Fly Fish that are far away. (Thinking of the four Flyfish that spawned one on each side of the map once)
- Have fun, and just be a nice team mate (Booyahing back is always nice)
When I try to switch weapons in the training room all I get is the Splattershot, any tips/fixes on this?
@@ryanhernandez8324 When you play a session with random weapons, the only option in the box is the splattershot
Goodness, Belle, you must be really good at Salmon Run, I assume?
I once had like 6 back to back steelheads once during a shift(I killed them all with splat roller though since I was on high ground) 💀
One time I played with some random ppl and it was a high tide
all teammates expect me died bc they're on the low ground
If I die the round would end before even start-
Don’t forget that during the king wave that the egg gun deals roughly 600-700 damage and can obliterate most bosses in one shot, so when you kill a boss use 2 on the big boi and spare one for a particularly annoying boss, like drizzlers or scrapers
How do you aim the shots with the egg gun though?
@@HK_on_YT HOLD a so then you see the trajectory like if throwing a bomb
My jaw dropped when you told about the low tide, high tide waves in the countdown screen. That's such a useful tip.
Especially if it's wave breaker
@@dxmayahI am guilty of this, I forget we are given specials and only realize this we are once we are being overrun and im panicking to find someway out-
Will try and be more mindful of that though ~_~
Dynamo:
Dyna roll does 400 damage, allowing it to run over all lesser salmon, combine with the flick itself u can one shot eel and scrapper, u can also one cycle maw or deal massive damage to chohozona if there's a wall behind u, and insta kill big shots when it's walking towards u, use the vertical flick to kill steal heads as that flick does 300 damage max(horizontal does less for some reason)
It's is very helpful in glowflies BUT it CAN NOT oneshot a goldie as it has 600 hp(if u don't one shot with a roll u will get knocked back), so other weapons still have to help chipping down the goldies so the chums won't break through the choke point ur trying to hold
for goldie hunting if you hold the dynamo down in front of the goldie it is easy free eggs
@@blitzie66 wanted to say the same. Especially useful since during holding it down also re-fills ink a bit again
Vertical flick deals more damage than horizontal because it takes a lot longer to wind up.
Tip - make sure you use your specials before wave 3 ends as you get them for free ( I've seen so many people using specials after wave 3 when they are pretty much useless) so always use your two free specials
we use them at the end as a funny little way to celebrate surviving :]
Don’t actually do this. It’s good to try and save a special in case of overtime, as specials are split between people.
You are guaranteed one free special at the start of xtrawave if that was your concern which is why I still go by use the two free specials you receive because they are useless after wave 3 unless there’s an xtra wave which is never guaranteed to happen every time you play salmon run so use your two anyway
@@Inmortuae2233 what?
@@TimTheGreat1125 It literally says in the manual that special abilities are divided among coworkers in extra round. also you can tell when you will get a cohozuna round when your cohozuna meter is full in the lobby.
I saw a tip yesterday that blue flyfish lid sends missiles that target all players and the red lid sends missiles that target only the closest player. So getting rid of the blue side first is the best to protect your team
I never know flyfish lids have different colors-
Bonus fact (I don’t wanna ruin the 33 meaning): Dynamo roller is HELLA useful, and the best weapon for rush mode.
Small tip, squid roll! Makes movement faster and snappier, can get you out of tight spots, and refills your ink tank faster.
How does squid rolling refill your ink tank faster
@@Inmortuae2233 I don't think it's by too much. But I do find that when I squid roll, especially with an egg, I'm able to egg throw right away or really fast compared to just picking it up and continuing to swim. That little bit, for me ,has been enough to help save runs so I thought I'd share.
this might have been said already, but a consistent way to know if cohozuna will spawn is if the countdown on wave 3 says "wave 3 will begin in..." or "final wave will begin in..."
if it says "wave 3", you have a xtrawave coming.
bro thats so simple how did i not see that yet 😭
unfortunately i believe they removed that :(

7:29 that timing with the music and the jingle is perfect
You can throw eggs and any lesser salmons in close range will go down, at least up to cohock. You can chip damage him though. Sometimes I toss the eggs to the basket but wait an extra moment or two so I can clip salmons swarming me or my teammates nearby.
The AOE does exactly 100 damage, so in case of emergency it’s effectively a dollar store bomb
1:00 about the water level I always jump onto the lower level then it plays the animation for high tide and I just stand there before drowning
6:13
Maybe not entirely true.
This was one of the best videos for salmon run I’ve seen yet, I didn’t even know half of these things, also flyfish is the worst
also a good tip is when you're in a wave where a goldie is hiding in the gushers, if you have a roller for a weapon, stand in front of the goalie with the roller down. you can get loads of eggs just by doing that.
5:05 wall clinging should generally only be used as a last resort or to buy time for your teammates to recover/distribute eggs
PLEASE do not use wall clinging as your main strat for glowflies as all it does it make eggs much harder to get as it will all be stuck in one place (where the salmonids are)
another tip I saw is when targeted by a flyfish tenta missles, the little indicator of how many are on you also is like an arrow to where the flyfish is
thats also a thing in the other modes
The glowflies do change on a predictable timer unless you die so keeping everyone together is a good way to not have a person delivering eggs and be targeted out of the blue and instantly dying.
some things that i do and my advice and tips:
(also if i make any substance updates ill put an "EDIT:" marker)
if you are a charger or splatling or long ranged weapon, using the fish stick as a perch is op ESPECIALLY on spawning grounds and gone fishin hydroplant due to their lack of substantial high ground (nintendo please) just keep in mind that maws CAN go up it but still, its wonderful
ive also seen that the weapon loadout really matters for killing cohuzuna
and also, use them specials
if youve somehow forgotten or just simply havent used them by wave three, just use them in wave three
wave three is typically the hardest and most stressful so you should at least use it at all
i know that it can definitely matter, even if you dont really notice it, in getting a win
also remember that killer wail can kill any boss from anywhere, namely flyfish (it goes thru its little glass dome, even if not opening its missle crates) and stinger (especially if youre its target)
stinger can also be killed early as its coming up to shore like steel eel
its very helpful due to how much of a pain in the ass it can be
global range bosses should also be priority in xtrawave due to: mobility (esp flyfish and stingers), and simply bc they can get you from anywhere and that effect really shows even more in xtrawave
i play salmon run a LOT, ibe played nearly every day since splatoon 2 so i consider myself experienced. and also keep in mind that new bosses *might* be coming to them game. at least king bosses. as well as big run too!
thats all i can think of so thats all, bye!
EDIT: yeah i already thought of more things
keep in mind that every big shot that spawns goes to the same basket
going up on walls and then going up onto the higher ground (easier with grates, like the high ground on sockeye or the bridge on hydroplant) distracts the salmon and can be useful to reset the timer of salmonids jumping up at you
chargers, if youre skilled, can easily revive people
bombs are really useful for getting yourself out of *anything* like if youre being attacked by many regular enemies like if u cant necessarily just shoot at them (esp cohocks)
if the mothership comes, if u have an egg on you, put it in the basket after it leaves to give a headstart on refilling any lost eggs since the ship takes eggs relatively fast and can easily kill a run if left unchecked. the slight extra help can really matter
goldies leave behind more eggs depending on what kills it, i believe. it
mostly depends on how powerful the weapon that kills it is but that might be just a thing in two but i think its still around
sometimes in goldie seeking, when the goldie hops into another gusher, where it is next can just be that gusher that it just hopped into, as it isnt always a different gusher. fuckin trickster
always "this way" when uve come across a large sum of eggs (esp in solo queue/not with friends in vc or something). not necessarily just to bring them there bc not all weaponsvare viable to retrieve eggs but to let them know its there
"this way"ing can also let your teammates know that youre in trouble
not really a gameplay thing but booyahing back and also booyahing in general (preferably at the start of the game and in between rounds) lifts spirits and is generally friendly culture. like saying "hiya" or something idk its just, imo, makes it feel like im not playing with cpus? just dont like, do it the entire 10 second downtime between rounds bc that wastes time
its something i do out of habit at least
squidpartying the entire time achieves nothing though
ok this is the real end this time, im glad i could share my knowledge to the few who may see this
bye! :)
i love you
The wall trick does NOT work on Fission Plant.
The eggs down there will be harder to get, and you will have 3 people attacking instead of 4.
all umbrellas fly off into space if you land them on an enemy mid-air it seems. A good space-program.
With the flipper flopper, its armour doesn't regen when it goes into the ink, that means you can break it, when it first lands, and then kill it in a more favourable position closer to the egg basket, even with a weaker or short range weapon.
The way I tell if there’s a Cohozuna is by the the sunset after wave 3, if the sky is red, you have a cohozuna
My pro tip. if you have some "free time" or rather you arent being overrun at the moment, and you get targeted by tenta missiles, or see an ink storm coming down. please go find that drizzler and flyfish, PLEASE!
A simple tip (for some): don't stay idle during the 10 seconds before the wave starts. Paint some ground for movility and escape routes
I would not suggest staying on the wall. They can jump, you know.
I would probably suggest staying near the basket for Sockeye, but this really does depend during the stage
They already mentioned this in the glowflies part 5:19
one small tidbit in salmon run that I'm not sure ANYONE has found out ( and that I found out completely by accident ) is that throwing power eggs ( non xtrawave ) can oneshot smallfry and chums ! it has a very small hitbox but great for when you're overwhelmed by smaller enemies.
A small tip! Killer Wail 5.1 is capable of killing Flyfish thanks to its armor-piercing capabilities. Very handy, especially if you’re far away.
Also Steelheads and Scrapers
Wow! This is the best guide / collection of tips for Salmon Run Next Wave that I have seen so far! Thanks so much!
More tips:
Rollers can be rolled into goldies and big shots as they move to deal a lot more damage.
I didn't even know if the Slammin swinging with the ladel
1. Grizzco Stringer does 1350 damage at point-blank range. Dummies are just capped at 999.9. This means that with one pre-charged shot and one partial it deals more damage more quickly than Grizzco Charger
2. Throwing eggs does 100 damage so it can take out lesser salmonids and badly damaged bosses
3. E-liter can be used as a "cannon" during Cohock Charge as it can pierce through multiple Cohocks. Same with Dynamo - although not recommended, if you can handle it well, you can actually run eggs in this mode
A lot of those I had learned while doing salmon run, but some of them definitely will help me better my game. Thank you.
I remember loving this mode in Splatoon 2. Havent gotten 3 yet since i use my switch too little to justify the online service sub, but the inclusion of a from what i hear permanent salmon run has me excited
that tenta brella thing can happen to the normal brella aswell
that's hilarious
learning how bosses target players is so helpful!
Grizzco stringer can actually deal up to 1350 damage per shot (150 per projectile, nine projectiles total, 150 x 9 = 1350)
4:21 reminds me of this one old vine
Slammin Lid: nuh uh you messing with my truck? YOU MESSING WITH MY TRUCK!?
Tip: use your specials
It’s so infuriating when we barely survive the final wave (especially if it’s glowflies) and several teammates use their specials to celebrate
Thanks for the tips! I used one to help my teammates since I was the last player left and used my special at the perfect moment
(While keeping an eye on your ink tank, of course.)
Also, it's helpful to learn how to sub-strafe, squid roll, and to use the camera reset button (X) not just for resetting the gyro, but also to quickly snap the camera around up to 180 degrees.
Tip -the roller can be used as a shield like method if the player just stands still for the gold flies wave when they rushing you
2 little things that are not actual correct, 1.
Water level one is clutch, I may or may not be the teammate that drowns……😂
Did you hand animate the subscribtion thing at 0:13 or did you use an app to do it. If you used an add could you link the app. Also great video

Also, on Big Shot. The cannon is useful! BUT don't have 3 or 4 of you camping it to launch eggs. Snatchers will come by very quickly to steal them if you don't have someone delivering them to the basket soonish.
I’m just gonna tell you something random- So the first wave was high tide and a fly fish came, one of the dizzlers (I forgot how to spell it) rain thingy knocked out the fly fish- this probably makes no sense-
Last tip was my favorite💥💞
Btw, I heard that a golden egg makes arount 700 da aga on cohozuna, so if you have a charger that makes 600 damage at once you can concentrate on shooting the cohozuna
Use the killer wail and the wave breaker to revive most if not all teammates if you know you are about to die
I'm so happy I found these discords!
If needing to launch a golden egg *higher* quickly press jump, THEN toss. Instead of jump/toss. They'll launch higher
I am so sorry for being a horrible teammate. I didn't understand why I sucked so bad at salmon run and now I will definitely be better.
this is the best Salmon Run video

If i could send this to the past 5 crewmates who failed me i would
for the 18th tip, I managed to do it several times, it is so satisfying
I learnt more than I thought I would, thanks!! :D
Thanks bro i got from go-getter to eggsecutive vp 999 in a single rotation with these tips 🤩👍 I like splatoon
The most important tip I have is to shoot the salmonids off your teammates. Especially those with splatlings or chargers - they can do a lot of work if you create space for them, as these weapons are bad at that by themselves.
Nice video just subbed :)
When the last wave is over and the sound is kinda goofy-glitchy it's mean that a king salmonid will come ( it's happen before the warning message )
One tip about the drizzler ink storm projectile, i used it to revive a teammate so that works too lol
underrated video thus was so useful!!!
Nice vid definitely using these and definitely subscribing
5:13 I remember one of my teammates did this except he used a ride rail in the bonerattle arena. He just hovered over the salmoids inside the rail while the rest picked up golden eggs
I clicked on this video and the first ad to come up was an actual ad for salmon. You can’t make this up 😂
