107 AVG temp in the summer ....its like that here in sac but we have many lakes and rivers
More like 40 days of 110 to 120
It's a different set of pros and cons no matter where you are, that's for sure. I'm originally from Northern Vermont where folks endure 8 months of what feels like never-ending winter! Personally, I love the dry heat (especially our warm desert nights)! I'll take 3 months of heat in exchange for paradise the rest of the year here in Palm Springs 😎
My $1000 power bill was enough im gone
ouch. I'm curious was the power bill that much alone or was it a part of a condo assessment?
No solar??
So scared for my first power bill!
@@shalmamova let me know in summer ☀️
@@goldenwarrior5664 Haha! Need to get solar ASAP.
Thank you for sharing.😊
Thank you for watching!
You are welcome. ☺
Airbnb neighbors. Nightmare.
Airbnb neighbors can be a nightmare no matter where you live, that's for sure!
I’m in the Uk and I am obsessed with Palms Springs 😅
I don’t think I will ever get to go to Palms Springs. I will have to stick to going to Tenerife which is my favourite place in the world 😊🙏🏽
Tenerife is both cheaper and has more culture. BUT Palm Springs is deeply beautiful and easy for us on the West Coast.
Palm Springs is gorgeous with so many restaurants available. Hot through May-Sep is the down side 100f+, Jan-Mar beautiful and in the 80f-90fs
I hope you will get to Palm Springs someday! It is amazing and very beautiful. 😊
@@ajhill6655 Really? I just moved here from the Bay Area, and one of the greatest disappointments for me has been the food scene. It's great if you're here for a weekend, but I wouldn't say that the restaurant scene is impressive so far.
Why not? You'll have to come visit if you're obsessed with it 😂
Avoid windy areas at all costs.
Good advice!
It's a really gay town.
Oh, hell yeah. I'm gay, but I just like being alone, I'd love some gay friends though!!
You should go to Palm Springs! It's pretty
Yes, it's such an accepting and inclusive community here!
All very true, I live in Palm Desert right next to Palm Springs. There is just something healthy to waking up virtually every morning to a blue sky. Once and a while we get desert winds but it's not common. IMHO there's a very good and accepting 'community vibe' in the valley. And the food, well my Dr. warned me to watch my carbs this year!!!
It's always nice to hear from the locals perspective. Most local folks I know just love it out here!
You compared cost of living PS to LA -- but would think someone desert shopping would want cost of living PS vs Vegas or Phoenix. Or if friendly shopping, PS vs SFO or Asheville or Houston etc. Just a suggestion!
Great suggestions! We've got a few relocation videos already (PS vs Phoenix, etc) and we'll keep them coming!
I moved there in 2007 and at first it was great. However the longer I was there the more I realized that CA and Palm Springs were becoming more crime ridden, higher in taxes and even with solar on the roof I was paying $200 a month for electricity on top of the solar financing. My property taxes on a 2400 square foot home were over $13,000 a year and my state income taxes were over 10% with a cap at 13.4%. Car insurance was also really high. Frankly being gay there wasn’t all it was cracked up to be either because if your politics weren’t far left you were an outcast. In 2018 I had had enough and sold my home and moved to Scottsdale, AZ. I’m in a 3800 square foot home on an acre of land and my property taxes are $3800 per year. My income tax is a flat rate of 2.5% no matter how much I earn. I live in a great and welcoming community where you’re respected for being you, not what you do or who you do it with. The gay people here are much more chill than the California gay people I encountered in Palm Springs, more like “normal” queers as we like to say here. All in all Palm Springs was a nice experience for 11 years but I am happy to be gone.
There's certainly a lot to consider. It's a different set of pros and cons no matter where you are. As a gay man myself, my life has improved tremendously from living here in Palm Springs (after living on the east coast for many years and then Los Angeles for five years). I'm glad to hear you're enjoying life in Scottsdale now!
Hope you don't have a daughter that gets SA. She'll be a mom in Arizona. #freedom
@@MT-mv2ge Any daughter of mine would be responsible enough to choose motherhood when it suited her , not through stupidity or carelessness.
you wanted to move to the desert? That was your first mistake
Haha, I'll let you know when it begins to feel like a mistake (so far so good)!
PS has everything and it doesn’t belong to one group..everyone one here is welcomed but yes leave the politics away, even the Italian Albanian mafia didn’t conduct business in here, just a peaceful place for most of the areas
Well said!
Lived there for 15 years and left !!Horrible Place to live Full time!!
I've been here for 3 years and love it more every day, but I'm sorry you had a bad experience here!
Looks dry, barren and hot!
It is all of that AND so much more than that!
It looks very appetizing compared to the hot sweaty humid rainy “armpit” I live in called Tampa!👎🏻👎🏻
Now that short term rentals have been basically outlawed...I'm coming there to lo-ball some desperate over-leveraged speculator out of their gorgeous overpriced home.HALF OFF...BWHAHAHAHA.😂
Short term rentals haven’t been outlawed. There’s a cap on the numbers, not a reduction or an end to them. Plus any homeowner can now rent their property for 6 weekends in the year. If you pick the right weekends such as Coachella, then you should cover your mortgage assuming you are not over borrowed.
Yes, there' a cap on the numbers now to better regulate things and help keep the area a manageable, welcoming place for all!
I’m laughing he’s so wrong. Airbnbs now capped at 25% which I needn’t point out is potentially one out of every four houses. It’s nearly that now. As long as the City makes tens of millions a year they don’t care about the residents. Really disgusting
As a person who does not support homosexuality….will a move to Palm Springs be detrimental. I am looking for a second home but will not be forced to buy into this way of life.
There's no need for you to buy a second home here if that's how you currently feel and think. Our beautiful, diverse LGBTQ+ community and supportive heterosexual friends, family, and allies don't need that kind of fear, ignorance, or intolerance. We endure enough of that on a daily basis in every other part of the world. It's amazing to live in a safe area where even our local government and police system has our safety and best interest at stake. Furthermore, homosexuality not a "way of life" - we were born this way, just like you were born however you were born. That said, if you'd like to be apart of a supportive, positive, inclusive community, then by all means - we welcome you to Palm Springs!
Does "supporting homosexuality" mean you can't coexist alongside people who are different than you? And do you think people will be forcing you into this way of life? My suggestion is to get more educated about diversity. And If it's not for you, then avoid cities which celebrate inclusion.
Center-left hetero here. Florida sounds like a better match for you. More judgmental and pseudo-moralistic people there so you’ll fit right in.
TOO many Log Cabin Republicans for my taste! This town is more conservative than meets the eye in a shocking hypocritical way.
I am new on this channel as in today new. We are in TX and Partner has diminishing physical abilities. Not anywhere near wheelchair status but we are ones who prepare. Can you share more on the political thing? I am not baiting, but it is a tough gig here in TX.
How is it hypocritical to favor limiting big government spending, create energy independence, a strong military, a well educated populace, avoiding wars and a building a strong economy. Sounds more like intelligent common sense to me.
Politically you will be much better in P.S. than anywhere in Texas. You will have way more support in anything healthcare and "partner" rights.@@TheJohnebey
Thank you@@user-zw2fy6ey6v
Well, you kind of have that everywhere you go in this country, wouldn't you say? In my experiences, those type of folks are outnumbered here in Palm Springs.
