@@bwcpublishing But if you went to a Drive-In on one of those summer longer days, you had to wait about 2 hours, until it was around 8:30 P.M., then they would show previews, a short subject, a cartoon and the second movie was first; I think it was that way when we went to see "The Time Machine" ( the main attraction) when it was new in 1960.

At $2000, you could buy and own your own house in the 1960s (won't be very large, though); small, but regular sized candy bars, like Milky Way and Snickers, were 5 cents each. But milk cartons then had no expiration dates on them. Alot of soft drinks were in glass bottles. And of course comic books, every month, were 12 cents each, but the jumbo size was 25 cents. We used to get the Sad Sack for awhile (he was always cleaning garbage cans)!

I saw no video games - they DID NOT exist until the first one in 1975, when I was 20, I saw the pong game in the theater lobby after I just came out from seeing "The Return of the Pink Panther". On your tablet, play the Saturday Night Live TV program in Oct. 1975,and see the screen of the Pong game, if you want to know what it looked like, how primitive and limited it was then; but they don't show how VERY LARGE, burdensome the machine itself was, for just that one game. I looked at it and I certainly did not like it, growing up with several board games all that time.

The swing sets and teeter totters for the kids, the small 6oz. cokes that were always so cold, popcorn all in the car and we didn't get yelled at, all this before the internet, fakebook, computers, sources of constant interruption/cell phones, just a different era than the US is today.
