Great to hear a positive review Brendon. I’ve been a Bon Jovi fan since the mid-80s although I’ve not been keen on the last couple of albums. However this one is a return to form. A couple of songs remind me of Train, which is no bad thing in my book. My favourite songs are Living Proof, Walls of Jericho & Waves.
Listened to the album, it’s the album you’d expect in 2024 from Bon Jovi. Like you said, it’s not the 80s anymore. They’re older and have evolved their sound, and it’s not a bad thing.
I´ve been a fan since 1991. Forever is not New Jersey, but I have to admit I really like the album. I think it´s much better than 2020. It´s the new Bon Jovi, and I like the way it sounds. My favs are Living Proof, Walls of Jericho, The People´s House and Legendary. Bon Jovi Forever!!!
Brendon. Thanks for giving this such a fair review. Unlike some of the haters out there. I have been a fan since the beginning and I can find something good in every single album that they have done.
Agreed on the booklet's lack of pics and info. I mean, if you're going to offer music on vinyl and or cd, put some fun stuff in there, make an effort. Its a fun part of buying a physical copy of music.
I think this album sounds more like a Jon Bon Jovi solo album. Losing Richie Sambora I feel like is if the Stones lost Keith Richards. I am also hoping that Richie comes out with a solo album. His four new tracks that he released are superb.
The percussion player is Everett Bradley and through my own research, found the location of the album cover to be at the corner of S. Hill Street and 7th Street in Los Angeles. The insection is an X when viewed on a map. The camera angle is shooting from the north corner facing southeast and his head is turned down Hill Street.
I agree with everything you say. As a fan of Bon Jovi old and new this album falls right into my ballpark. My favourite songs are the same as yours but I will also add Hollow Man. This song surprised me how much I like it. '2020' never really clicked with me but I am very happy with 'Forever'.
Another great, fair review. Good fallout on The People's House sounding like Keep the Faith. I'm pleasantly surprised by the record. It follows the course of their recent albums, but the song writing is better this time around. Good stuff.
Came in to this album not expecting much and probably looking forward to destroy it. After a few spins I have to admit that my perspective is changing and actually enjoying it. Also saw the documentary this weekend and you have to respect the man. Lots of humility needed when you were once a major rockstar.
I really REALLY love the album. Artistic growth is a good thing, making adjustments for age is a good thing. I was really impressed, every song is a winner.
There are a lot of people who are content to listen to the same music that they grew up with in high school. That’s why so many radio station sucks so bad is because all people want to hear is Freebird and Hotel California.
Jon recently said, Ritchie's involvement with the band will be limited to any possible upcoming tour, and even that decision will be taken when and if his voice can get to touring status.
Great review, enjoyed it a lot. I'm a big fan since 1993, and I still think their best albums are "Keep the Faith" and "These Days", I kinda evolved with them and still enjoy every album. "2020" was great given the time and space Jon was in. I'm still getting into "Forever", but it sounds fresh indeed, some songs actually surprised me, which is always a good thing. I still hope another producer would push them some more in regards to songwriting and arrangements, but I feel I will enjoy this album years from now. The booklet is disappointing indeed, but we got a great one with "2020", so the next might be better again. :-) Which songs are on the japanese edition?
After 2020, my first listen of Forever was like a breath of fresh air that rapidly faded into an empty shell of what the band used to be upon follow-up listens. While Have A Nice Day is a classic by modern standards, I thought John Shanks destroyed the fullness that once defined the band on day one. Since then the band has been reduced to a bunch of session players, big guitars have been replaced by delay and echo effects, or are completely stripped out for an acoustic sound. Unfortunately everything acoustic here is far more neutered than anything from the Young Guns era. This sounds more like The Cranberries than Bruce Springsteen. Get a new producer already and include other band members in the writing process!!!
I got my copy on CD the day before it was released, because I pre-ordered mine, and when I played it on my CD Player, I was really enjoying it, and I listened to it again on my iPod and over these last few days, and I think the album really has a few good themes, where some of the songs are mainly throwbacks through Bon Jovi's 40 Year Career, and also having easily relatable songs as well, and also a couple of personal songs for Jon as well, and I personally think this is one of Bon Jovi's best albums in a long time. Yes, I think This House Is Not For Sale is my top favourite Bon Jovi album, but this is certainly close to being a top favourite of mine along with some of the other albums in my view. Yes, for some people, the new album may not be as good as their classic albums, but I still enjoy it as much as the others. My favourite song on the album has got to be 'The People's House' and I think it's just amazing and definitely one of the best Bon Jovi songs of this decade so far, and it does have a 'Keep The Faith' sounding and I think it could fit on 'This House Is Not For Sale' in my opinion, and I love 'Living Proof' which is definitely a classic Bon Jovi song in the modern era.
Great album i reworked the track order and its even better. Its up with Slippery, Jersey, HAND, Circle and THINFS for me. Also really like KTF and 7800
Personally not a fan of this one, it's not bad, just not anything for me specifically. Very glad to see a good amount of people enjoying this though. Especially happy Jon seems to love it and I'm glad he's got a voice still, albeit after surgery. (P.S. here, have you thought about doing a Rolling Stones, and or Ramones album ranking? If ‘living proof’ is the hardest rockin song in the album we’re in trouble. Yes it’s a better song than Legendary and should have been less single in that regard but it’s by no means a Jovi classic. I hate the way Phil X is been held back. The guy is so talented and he’s obviously been told to play something simple and generic for the solo. So frustrating. Wish they would use him and his ability more, he’s soooo good. Think I’ll give this one a miss tbh. Pity, been a Jovi fan since forever. Enjoyed the documentary though and huge respect for Jon and wish him the very best in his recovery. They need to get rid of Shanks though. It’s Jovi not Springsteen lite

I did not care for 2020 at all. I normally give an album time to grow on me and I never did that with 2020 because I just didn't care for the tone and what I was hearing lyrically. Forever, though certainly not on par with older stuff, is to me, leaps and bounds better than 2020 on first listen. On repeated listens, I'm sticking with that assessment. Not great but good and worthy of a purchase unlike 2020.

I'm a fan of the band and will follow them wherever they go. But I prefer the ''Desmond Child'' years (80s) where that exceptional song doctor helped them write some of their biggest hits. I understand that Jon wants to evolve both musically and lyrically. But I'm never as happy as when he allows himself to return to the ''Desmond Child'' style... like ''Living Proof'' or ''This Is Love, This Is Life'' a few years ago . And for what I often hear out there, I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Just listen to your review: you applaud the style of the other songs, you respect the artistic integrity and the ''truth'' of his vision... but ''Living Proof'' is your favorite piece. This confirms what I always thought: although we appreciate the evolution of the group (for some), Bon Jovi will always remain in people's hearts, this group from the 80s, with Richie's voice in the background, and the sound of ''Desmond Child'' which propels each melody to the four corners of every arena in the world. ''Who-Oh...'' So thank you to them for ''Living Proof''.
Picked up the Album yesterday. I like it no it is not the Bon Jovi from the 80's but still good. My Mom passed away last week, and she liked Jon Bonjovi. I will say my least favorite track on the album is kiss the bride.
I haven’t had much faith in new Bon Jovi since , well Keep the Faith . It’s really an overall feeling of new material from the genre . Motley new stuff is horrible , hated most of GnR CD and really don’t get this General song being leaked . Extreme made a really great record last year with Gorilla , so it can be done . I love the old records and still play them often , but for new stuff , it’s been Rival Sons and Dirty Honey , the new Crowes record is solid .
Living proof is a really good song I really liked the album. But I have followed bon Jovi for years.the picture on the back of the the cd it looked like there was big bon Jovi line up .
Can you imagine Jon who is in his 60's pretending to still be a 25yr old? That will be so ridiculous. The music and content has to evolve and change accordingly but people are stuck in the 80's. Move on cos the band has.

I was so looking forward to this album but once again Bon-Jovi let me down. I can understand that there not going to sound like they did back in the 80's but come on, Country rock?? this isn't Little Texas or Black Hawk, It's Bon Jovi!! the only song I liked was "Living Proof."
The new Bon Jovi era sounds alot of springsteen , I think Jon is forgeting what made Bon Jovi Big ,I accept sound change but not so much for me is hard to get it. Sorry not for me
Agreed, Jon Bon Jovi once in the early 00s said that’s it’s great to have music influences but leave them at just that, don’t try to turn into them and seems like he is forgetting his own advice. He is mimicking Springsteen too much, which is my least favorite of his influences if he tried to mimick Mick Jagger or Steven Tyler could be better, especially Steven Tyler. Aerosmith is my favorite of his music idols why he picked the worst of his idols to mimic ?
@@sergiopaulino859 true, Steven Tyler has always stayed in that wild personality he had since the 80s. Sure now sober and without the drugs but that wildness is still there. Aerosmith still has that love for true Rock. 🎸 Bon Jovi would have been better emulating Aerosmith than Springsteen.
Great review Brendan the reason the production and mix and mastering doesent compare to past albums is because they were mostly mastered by the great George Marino who is no longer with us , check out the albums he mastered we will never see his likes again , good things too ya 🙏
Perhaps but the new album is mixed by Chris Lord-Alge who is also phenomenal at what he does so I was surprised when the mix didn’t feel up to par. Not sure why it’s off.
With the exception of the song "Living proof", this album is like listening to James Taylor or Bruce Springsteen. Since the departure of Sambora, this band is just a shell of what it was. Jon doesn't sound good on this album and I think for true Bon Jovi fans, this will be a huge disappointment. The absence of songwriting by Sambora and David Bryan really shows and the modernization of this band is really exposed on this album. This album will resonate better with Country music fans and a whole different audience.
Not that this album will repeat it but Lost Highway sold a million copies in the US alone. Personally I thought it was a great record even thought it didn’t sound like Bon Jovi. So I don’t think the band has one specific sound. They have proven themselves to be versatile. That said, the album This House Is Not For Sale was amazing and didn’t miss a beat without Sambora. I don’t feel he had contributed much in his remaining years.
@@BrendonSnyder Since he left, the overall harmony in the vocal and the hooks have been less than melodic or catchy. Not to mention the guitar work has been subpar. What made Bon Jovi great was Jon's ability as a frontman and Richie's guitar playing and singing. That is long gone and it's painfully evident as their last good album for me was Keep the Faith. That's the Bon Jovi I want to hear not some James Taylor knock off music.
Thanks for taking the time to talk about this iconic band and their latest release. I heard the album in its entirety on friday night and I will just say i am not into the music because It is not my cup of tea. As far as comparing the new songs with classic BJ tunes I would say The People's House is like Keep The Faith but without guitars. And yes, Living Proof seems out of place inside the album. I warn 80's rock n roll fanatics that this album only has 1 guitar solo (The People's House).
Hi Brendon. I know you’ve talked about your tattoos but I believe watching one of your videos I thought I seen something shiny in your mouth on the tongue. Do you have a tongue piercing? Did it hurt? And do you like it? ✌🏻
I'm really enjoying the album, and agree...the packaging is very disappointing. Oh, I think you meant Ryan Tedder is from One Republic, not One Direction. 😉😁
Not really when you consider how many people streamed it. Unfortunately streaming doesn’t translate into album sales. But even with 50,000 copies sold that’s not considered a flop today. Sales aren’t in the millions for any artists today except a very very select few like Adel and Taylor Swift.

It's a John Shanks album...My personal opinión is that they need new production (sound) with better ideas...
We only like early Bon Jovi
I’m an equal opportunity Bon Jovi fan 😂
😎👍
👍
Omg any bon Jovi fan knows what they are getting but to take over 14 minutes to start reviewing the songs is to much sorry
Album FLOPPED.
Not really when you consider how many people streamed it. Unfortunately streaming doesn’t translate into album sales. But even with 50,000 copies sold that’s not considered a flop today. Sales aren’t in the millions for any artists today except a very very select few like Adel and Taylor Swift.
Dreaded words- Country Rock, Heartland Sound, Springsteen.
Definite pass on this.

Man such cheese 🤔🇬🇧
What’s wrong with cheese?
NO SIRVE
Everything they made after 1995 is crap. I don´t understand why people still buy their records.
It’s simple…the albums aren’t “crap” and we like it 👍
Let's be honest. If John wasn't a good-looking guy? He would have faded away in the 80s.
