Re-releases of the remastered versions of Lunar: The Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete were announced today. I'm going to use this as a springboard on how far the franchise has come.
Flows better, the English one even though it sounds great, you can tell they strained real hard to make the words flow to the original melody. Though I agree with Victor Ireland that it was better to change the words to give a sense of urgency than the lovey dovey Japanese song.
WOW! The vid was amazing... the OP in JAP sounds so good also. Nice to see someone who appreciate the classics! :D I'm a Lunar fan (and for no specific reason)
Thanks for sharing. This is the first time I've really heard the Japanese OP for this game. Of course I love 'Lunar'. Played both versions of the game. The Sega CD and PSX versions.
I think I have like 3 or 4 versions of this game, lol And still the best cinematics IMHO are those of the first. At least definitely better than the PSX ver.
The Sega CD version is still by far the best. The Saturn/Playstation remake screwed up a lot of the mood and story (although the additional stuff added to the end was nice). But yeah, I have this for Sega CD, Saturn, Playstation, Gameboy Advance, and PSP. It's scary how many re-releases it had.
This is fascinating. The English singer is clearly better, and you have to give credit to the English lyricist for changing the lyrics and making them still sound good. It even sounds like the Japanese singer is saying "keep marching on" in the pre-chorus. They basically just kept what it sounded like and it fit, heh.
This original intro song is so much better than what we got in the remakes. The one in the original is very uplifting and get you all pumped up for the action and adventure. But the one in the remake is so "Disney" in the style, that it makes me wanna puke in comparison.
@remoteconsole I'm over the moon for it. Sadly I wish it included the original Sega CD ports and voices, but it's understandable as to why they couldn't. As long as the physical copies get the Working Design treatment; I will double dip on digital and physical.
Overall Working Designs did an ok job with the translation (considering translation in general was really bad at the time, the fact that we got something in correct English was welcome, Woolseyisms aside). But they royally screwed up the intro song. This is 10x better than the English one.

Yeah, I know can't wait. Great news
But this song seems only available on SEGA CD version right? Hope they port it to the new version. 😭
I agree! Best rpg ever... The story, the characters!

The game size version is better than the full version!

the scene where quark is killed is much better than the remakes
So 80s
SWITCH? Is that a prediction that this game and its sequel will see a remake on the Switch? If so, then you a profit!
You must be happy, I think they just announced it :P

Better than the songs from Complete and Harmony.
Hey man, i liked the soundtrack from Complete...
This is good but not as amazing as 'Funky Horror Bands' !
