I attended a performance of cultural anthropologist Joan-Andrea Hutchinson about 15 years ago. She told the audience that the saying was taken from Palisadoes rape and murder case. It either came out in court or was written in the newspaper that "Whoppy killed him with a fillip" (a swift blow to the head).
Mi old enough, know how long mi hear that saying. Neva ask what it mean.Wish i had ask grandma and grandpa. My grandfather probably would have known. He was 83 yrs old when i was 11 yrs old.Good video. Thanks Alex 👍🏽 💯 Stay blessed. 🙏🏽🕊❤🍀🍀🍀
I have been hearing that for years starting from the late 50's.Could you do a bio with photos of the late jockey Frankie Fraser. I am a big fan of your channel.
I knew Aston Jolly aka Whappy personally. He lived on my lane, Salt Lane, next to Dungle. Dungle was about one mile from Back O Wall, now Tivoli Garden. Whappy fed us little boys with coconut water and coconut jelly. It was a Fillup by Whappy, committing the murder at Palisadous beach. I witnessed the police arresting Whappy at Salt Lane.
Hi Alex, please research Industrial revolution and how the steel was stolen from Jamaica and used in many buildings and famous buildings in Britain. Reported in the Guardian Newspaper. "Industrial Revolution iron method was taken from Jamaica". Please do a research Jamaica has iron ore which would have made Jamaica very rich and its people better off today Britain Stoke the Iron from Jamaica 😮
They never stole the iron ore, they stole the method and equipments used to purify the iron ore. This was a method invented and perfected from the days of slavery by some very ingenious metal workers from a district in St Thomas , Jamaica
@@ellihall2266 They stole the machines and technology took some to england and destroyed the ones remaining in the district then the man who stole the machines registered a patent un England as if the ideas and inventions was his and got all the benefits and recognition as the inventor of a new refining process for iron
