Rare gems,i was born in 1980 9th ward New Orleans. So i was alive & well when all this greatness was on TV but i dont remember half of the shows you put on youtube. was i under a rock or something?
Because white-owned television studios and corporations don't have a vested interest in depicting loving, whole, intact black families who are financially successful.
It was like black sitcoms didn't work on other networks back then. Fox and NBC both had Thursday night and nothing else in the 90s. A lot of shows only lasted one season or the 13 episode order.
Lord thanks for black entertainment for staying persistent. and their efforts to represent black entertainment look at it now. in 2023 looking better but we still got a long way to go.
Ok where are these shows coming from? This clippers with John Amos, Bustin Loose with Jimmie Walker. I pride myself in knowing all our nostalgia but my wife and I who grew up in the 80s are clueless. Are these pilots that never saw the light of day?
Exactly! I was born in 1972, so some of these old shows posted trigger remembrance, and others leave me scratching my head like how did I miss that!!!!🤦🏽♀️🤷🏾♀️🤗 I have started a TH-cam playlist titled "Unknown TV Pilots/Shows" just for these rare gems.💝🦋
I remember the TV salesman dude from the movie NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. 😂 Gives me the urge to fire that comedy classic up! RIP TUPAC and DIGITAL UNDERGROUND (Shock G) 🙏🏾 PS. If anyone tried to sell that same TV used today, NOBODY would buy it 😂😂😂 I also always loved those SHAQNOSIS reeboks 🔥🔥🔥
@@robertarnold9676 yeah whatever,i would give anything to go back to this era, atleast it was a lot of black shows on television, instead of this weirdo stuff on today. And im not even fooled with a bunch of black faces in high places.

One Thing About Vivica Fox-From the 80's,90's,00's, 10's, till now-She STAYS Getting a check!!! She's always kept going!!!
No lies!
She's everywhere. She's like a female Samuel Jackson.😂
For real, I didn't even know about half these shows.
She was fine asf back then too!
Yo that’s so true! I remember driving one day and saw Vivica on a luster hair care product billboard!😂😂
Why am I suddenly seeing these black pilots in my feed that seem to be awesome 😳😳
I thank Rare Gems for giving the old black sitcom a second chance on YuTube .
a second chance?
@@Hereforyou2 ikr lol
They don't make sitcoms like this anymore 😢 I love this
Vivica Foxx in her prime was breathtaking. ❤
Agreed
Arsenio Hall and Vivica Foxx had great chemistry on this show.
There are so many Good, African American sitcoms
On TH-cam. Thea, Family time, the Sharps, there are much more
WOW 😲I never knew Arsenio had a sitcom.. I'll tell u, 👍NYC 1990's Club scene was more EXCITING THAN TV.. We was outside.
You better say that! Could party Monday to Sunday if you wanted to!💃🏾 I’ve never seen this or heard of it🤷🏾♀️
Right everybody was hanging at the after party's after party then headed to the diner

Vivica was like in every 90’s sitcom pilot

THEY ARE CALLED "PILOT" !!!! EPISODES !!!!
meaning THEY NEVER MADE IT TO PRODUCTION..
I thought the pilot was the very first episode of the sitcom.
I actually enjoyed this. Good show why didn’t continue like so many other great ones.
Because white-owned television studios and corporations don't have a vested interest in depicting loving, whole, intact black families who are financially successful.
They weren't whyte washed and buffoonish enough. Plus the husband probably wasn't enough of a feminist apologist.
The bar was high for ratings back then.
I love this show so much.
You’ll be surprised by the amount of shows that only last one season or half a season
Yup and she seemed to be in every single one of them. Lol
@@keepcalm1224yup she is a hustler, she never gives up

I didn't know Arsenio had a sitcom😮
It was like black sitcoms didn't work on other networks back then. Fox and NBC both had Thursday night and nothing else in the 90s. A lot of shows only lasted one season or the 13 episode order.
Not like they didn’t try, there were tons of shows and pilots in the 90’s. They over saturated the market and put them in the same time slots
Lord thanks for black entertainment for staying persistent. and their efforts to represent black entertainment look at it now. in 2023 looking better but we still got a long way to go.
Gosh, I vaguely remember this show! S\O to the owner of channel for posting these Black shows from the 90s.
Great Show
When? How did I miss this sitcom. This was dope show. Arsenio and Viv..wow. Didn’t know
Im loving these Rare Gems..

Now I remember Jimmie walker bustin loose I use to watch it back in 87-88 it didn't stay on too long
Viv was in some shows back then
I knew Vivica worked hard in the 90s but she was really everywhere!

I never seen this before, I am surprised I didn't hear anything on this show
When the hell did arsenio have a show
I don't remember this shs 😂
Wow Never heard of it
Baby vivica stayed in a show in the 90s lol
I know this was short-lived cuz i don’t even remember this one! How u go from a cool, hip talk show to this sitcom fluff? 🙄
Nothing last forever, and people have to stay working. A lot of comedians and actors would love a gig doing "sitcom fluff".
Farrakhan.
@@alaza61 No they wouldn't! Everyone isn't looking for the lowest option. This was about as funny as cancer.
Sitcom fluff is right!
Hold up he had a sitcom never knew
Nice
Change the name of this channel to the *MANDELA EFFECT!!!😮* Straight up!
How come i never knew about this show.
Where is the other episodes
I didn’t know he had a tv show 👀
How long did this last or was it a pilot only?
😂i remember watching this abc comedy i was disappointed it was cancelked😅
When was this? I don't remember this at all. So Arsenio tried to make a comeback after the Arsenio Hall show and nobody remembers that.
Early 1997
I don't remember this show at all
Ok, what year is this? Smart remote and internet capable TV. Didn't know they had that back then.
Possibly 94-95 or 96 There used to be a thing called web tv.
@@Bulldog-mi3om Really? Didn't know that 🤔
‘97
Why was this canceled?
When was it even on? I thought I knew all of OUR shows. The hits and the misses and I definitely don't remember this
Because Vivica Fox was on it
Why? Just look at the theme opening
The lazy answer would be because Vivica Fox was on it but there was alot of BS going on behind the scenes between the producers and Arsenio
@@robertarnold9676 yeah whatever,i would give anything to go back to this era, atleast it was a lot of black shows on television, instead of this weirdo stuff on today. And im not even fooled with a bunch of black faces in high places.
Martin had an episode similar to this about buying a huge T.V. with a Japanese name, and Gina having the same reaction as Vivica's character. smh
Was this on UPN
ABC, actually.
Yo when was this
1997, only lasted one season...it was after The Aresino Hall Show, the late night talk show he had, the ran from 1989-1993.
Sup with ya phone number 🙂
They film 200 pilots every year, only about 20 get picked up
Never saw this
Didnt know he had hos own show 😂
He had a late light talk show back in the day....didn't know about this sitcom though.
Almost the same plot from Martin
Vivica A. Fox was the Clifton Powell of Black pilots ong she was everywhere
Now this show wasn't that great. I love Vivica Fox but not this show
Unfortunately Arsenio is extremely unfunny and a not even mediocre actor.
Extremely unfunny is a reach but this show was doomed from the start
