Just came across your channel and love your contents Dan. Just for the info, the ajumma probably told you not to swim in the stream because it might have been a restricted area to have a dip in. Bukhan mt is a national park and they restrict access to most parts of the stream in such national parks in Korea. Sucks but guess it's the easiest way to preserve the nature in a packed country like us. Quite interesting to see how foreigners experience ordinary local places. Please keep them coming!
Great video as always. Like you said, you can see why i love Korea. Those elderly people enjoying life by the stream with food and drinks was awesome. I just got back from a 5 day trip to Vietnam, Dan. Dont know if you have done a video of there?? It was awesome place.
@@whereisdan I loved it!! Awesome place. I would go back again for a trip. Language was easier to read. Signs, etc than Korean Hangul. As it has same alphabet as English. Was great 5 day vacation in DaNang.

If you enjoy swimming, I highly recommend goto water fun park. The closest water park from Seoul is carribean Bay, which is operated by samsung. Water is warm, so you can even go there in the winter season.
Really enjoying and learning about the 'everyman (and woman)' out on the streets and countryside. Learning more about simple but effective dialogue as well

Since certain moment , camping, cooking and swimming, etc is prohibited in national parks. Long time ago like 80s ,when I was young,we used to have some barbecued pork belly in theparks and of course swimming camping, used to do everything. Now it is less fun with those regulations, you ,either have to find a remote place where no one is around to do that. When you are seen by bunch of people of course there should be those who try to inform you. heh.
I really like your content. And your korean is quite good. Funny to see how you interact with ajjucci. 😊 New subscriber here. Ps. Do you have name of that buddahist temple in this video?
Heyy thanks for watching and subscribing! The temple was at the bottom on dobingsan mountain, just before you start the trail. Not sure of the name! sorry
Another great video, Dan - I'm already looking forward to your next one! I've watched all of your back catalogue, and am now Dan-less! :( By the way, did you know that flag emojis in TH-cam titles don't work on Windows machines? Instead of seeing flags, Windows users see KR, JP, etc. I only learnt this myself today. It's not a problem on Apple machines, and phones, apparently.
In my early 20s, I used to have a period in my life not unlike what you're living right now. The more I watch your videos - I found you quite recently - the more I yearn to go back to that lifestyle. Such a transition doesn't seem to be in the cards for me right now or ever again, but one can hope, I guess.
I regularly go jogging in that area. It may not have the touristy charm of Seoul, but it's far from being a dangerous place. It's more of an undeveloped town with some poverty issues. the government faces limitations because the houses there were constructed illegally in the hills after the Korean War to 70s. As a result, they can't offer compensation or redevelop the area since none of the residents legally own the properties or pay property taxes. Evicting them is also not an option due to ethical considerations.
I think the ban on swimming at the national park is to prevent water pollution and damaging the site. Popular national parks in the U.S. also put restrictions on swimming and some require advanced reservations because too many people visiting them degraded the site.
