I put up a wren house and have a family of house wrens right now. Last year we had Carolina wrens in the back of our grill. It's interesting how different their songs are, but they are all sooo cute.

I think it's the Carolina Wren we have where I'm located. They have a very distinct white stripe above each eye and the tail is shorter and stands up more. They are always so busy. Wish I had their energy! Thanks for posting this - Stephanie.

I LOVE house wrens and either I or my brother has a wren house up in the yard. Unfortunately my brother's neighbor has several cats so care has to be taken so that the cat can not climb up after it! And the wrens have a method. They sing alot to let others know around them that this area is THEIR territory and also when the female is sitting on eggs, she will sit on them until the male comes back and sings. That's her cue to fly out of the house and look for food while the male stands guard until she comes back! It's REALLY FASCINATING how they work together! I LOVE nature and APPRECIATE your postings! Follow it closely! Thanks for your updates!

Interesting how the singing is different from our House Wrens in Germany! I love those little buggers. They always try to scare away my cat but she doesn't care at all :D
Tinkili they've actually done studies to determine if birds can have regional dialects. Apparently American and Canadian crows separated by a great distance dont understand each other's calls.

I was out walking this morning and heard a house wren terns out it was the same one that was nesting in my wren house last year (or at least I think it is) So glad there back from the south! And also I was wondering if house wrens are supposed to be tame because last year when the babys came out of the nest one went right into a bucket by the nest. I picked it up and set it down next to the other babys and the whole time the mother didint really care.
They certainly are noisy, little creatures.
How can I get rid of this damn bird. It literally starts at 430 each morning and does not stop until the sun goes down. Anything they don't like or are scared of?
Their "song" is total gibberish but they are tough and charismatic little farts and aren't going anywhere 😎
We have a couple that periodically like to perch under our porch at night. We have to be quiet taking the dogs out at bedtime, or they turn and look at us like we are just ruining their beauty sleep. 😂
My poor little male wren! I little guy just can’t find a lady this year. I built two wren box’s three or four years ago. Last year he had two ladies, this year. It’s almost June and no luck. We’ve had a very bad spring for one thing. Can’t figure it out. Haven’t even seen a female.
A few years ago we had one sad House Wren fellow who sang his heart out all summer long and never found a girlfriend. This year all is well! BB

How I found a house wren:
My dog was barking at the door and we saw a bird on the ground. After we got gloves, we held it in our hands and after a while, it jumped out of our hands! Then I got a box and a towel and put her in it. I named her Hazel.
House wrens are chick killers though..
