- I grabbed this video off of journalist, Mike Leonard's website years ago. Since he no longer has his website up, I hope he doesn't mind me sharing this on TH-cam so that Hartford fans can learn a little of how much the river influenced John through out his career.
A true American treasure.
Very humble man
I can’t be somebody who sits around and says how things should be, I have to go with how things are. What a profound statement.
John comes came across as a nice person, he must be missed by many.
He is 100% on point with his assessment of River vs Railroad vs Highway transportation. Every word is the truth.
John speaks just like a Missourian. You never really know when their done with their statement. :)
well, he's from University City, Mo after all ...
Yes, and the interviewer didn't catch on to that. He should have left more space before jumping in with his next question.
RIP God Bless you John
Such a remarkable man.
John is a real nice man pity we've lost him ,
"We both love the Mississippi River , , , uh huh!!"
Out of the mouths of babes'
Great loss... Fantastic
The legend!
Well it's too thick to navigate
And it's too thin to plow
So let him go on mama
And don't put him down for it now~John Hartford
Not only a extraordinary musician but also a fine wise man.
I thought I heard that Natches whistle blow.
Such genius
John was born in the wrong century.
Goddamn genius
I don't think people realize how smart Hartford was, what an insightful songwriter.
Accident on the thumbs down
what year was this, thanks so much (86 perhaps?)
