The Marines need VTOL aircraft, including F35 jets, to support beach landings by having forward airbases on or near the beachhead. Especially when a carrier strike group is generally hundreds of miles or a thousand miles away. When minutes and seconds matter, a carrier’s fighter bombers are an hour away. The Marines have learned through horrific trial and error to relay as little as possible on the other branches of the military for critical support.

    • @LordDarthHarry

Pretty sure they had their own aircraft since at least World War 2. I know there was a USMC variant of the Corsair that was designed to operate from land bases and lacked the arrestor hook for carrier landings (and I think it didn't have folding wings either).

The reason he climbed down the ladder is because arma’s climbing system is finnicky and trying to climb through the window has an equal chance of doing nothing, getting you inside or breaking your legs. He also climbed down because in arma a 6ft drop will also break both your legs.

We got our names on the list and that was that for us for the year - because why would we bother to do it twice? But this was December and it was like 34 degrees (F). As soon as we were done, we ran back to his car and he blasted the heat - which reactivated the CS. So for the next month and a half, every time he turned on the heat in his car, he hotboxed tear gas. It was beautiful and I never rode in his car again but he sure as hell did.

Last I checked the Marine Corps is a self contained expeditionary force with its own air and armor support and it used to be that the President of the United States could deploy the Marines without permission of congress unlike the other branches until the 1973 War Powers Act.
Now any branch can be deployed by the President without approval, but congress is required to be notified within 2 days AND those deployed troops need to be out of the country they invaded in 60 days unless war is declared Constitutionally.
The Marine Corp is also more combat oriented with much fewer non combat MOS than other branches.

In regards to the ladder usage, quite likely the only reason the guy did not actually enter via the window is that arma does not really like that, unless you are running some specialty mods most windows are not able to climb through. Also, most players will scream if you say to toss a grenade in first, the game often ignores if you shot out the glass and the grenade would bounce back out at you.

That G3 has an experimental recoil-dampening system that reduces the impact of inertia and gravitation forces on the weapon, keeping it perfectly stable and still. Hard to move while carrying it, tho.

    • @edi9892
      @edi9892 2 ปีที่แล้ว

It's hardly experimental! It was designed in the late stage of WWII as it was easy to produce without complex tools and after the war G3 and MP5 reached fame. AFAIK, it stretches the recoil and since the barrel doesn't move, it' good for marksmen. However, full auto is worse than gas operated designs as you have a lot of mass bouncing back and forth. The fixed barrel can make it easier to fix suppressors, but the ejection of cartridges is far from silent.

"Who puts sandwiches in the fridge?"
Well, put it like this. When one has to go up early (ca 4 AM) to go to work, you cant be botherd to take out all ingredients to make a sandwich. It takes time and is annoying when you are dead tired because you went to bed too late.
Instead you make the sandwich the night before, chuck it in the fridge, and the in the morning, 30 sec on the toster and you have a nice "warm" sandwich with minimal effort.
    Time efficient and surprisingly good.

8:47 I'm not sure if it's the same case I'm thinking about but basically Edward Gallagher got accused of stabbing a wounded combatant to death, later on it was confirmed that these were exagerations made by his lower ranks because they were mad at him (for a bunch of stupid stuff like not being able to keep up with him in patrols and shit like that), a local officer that witnessed the event confirmed that the guy was simply applying first aid, cutting the clothes to see if there were any wound and then doing a tracheostomy, the 4 assholes that reported him to NCIS exagerated the whole thing just because they were mad, and NCIS being a lot worse irl than in TV shows, full of people that just want to catch a big enough case to build their carreers took the bait and investigated the thing, iirc some of the people from NCIS in the investigation were very shady with taking other similar cases, basically it ended up being a "let's get this guy in jail no matter if he is innocent or not because he is a Navy Seal and this could make my career" Donut Operator did a video about this I think, explaining the whole thing

I feel like I just have to throw this out there. But the part about putting the sandwich in the fridge I'm totally with you on that. I don't see any reason to do that. I think its mostly because when I was a kid and would go on field trips with my school my mom would make my sandwiches the evening before so she wouldn't have to do it in the morning and then she would put them in the fridge to like "preserve" the butter or something and it fucking sucked. There is nothing worse than a cold ham sandwich when your in the middle of a field in the rain with a bunch of classmates you despise.

Basically the way the us military works, you have the army that has ground forces and their own aircraft, and naval transports. The airforce has ground forces and aircraft and satellites, and missile tracking ships. The navy has naval forces, ground forces, aircraft, and satellites. And the marines, a subsection of the navy has naval forces, ground forces and aircraft. Because separate branches = every branch acts as its own entity.

16:36 I may be incorrect, but that "relations" between US Navy and USMC have origins back to pre-WWII, when Navy and Army didn't want to give anything new to Marines ASAP (good example - check how mamy years after Army, Marines had M1 Garands). But as I read - it is (in theory) so complicated, that it is easy to get lost.
Former war journalist from Korea (W.E.B. Griffin) wrote a series "Corps" where he points relationship between USMC, Navy and Army.

There is an easy solution to the soggy sandwich problem and that is to not utilize any “wet” ingredients like dressing or Mayo. You can apply the dressing or Mayo when you need to. That’s what I do and it works pretty well, granted, I eat my sandwich’s within a day of making them.

I put my sandwiches in a fridge all the time, because that's normally all I can afford and I have no where else in the break room I can put my food. Or no where else I have permission for.
What you need to do, and this is a trick I've learned from the years, is to put something between the dressing to make sure they don't touch the bread directly. So example: put the mayonnaise between the cheese and the meat. and as long as the sandwich is sealed in a plastic baggy you're good, it'll taste just as fresh.
You can also take this concept in reverse if you have a crappy bread. I put a little pickle juice on the bread, which made a tad soggy on one certain side after awhile and it tasted SO much better than what I was originally having that week.
