Serena probably would of won the Sydney title 2002 if she did not get injured. She beat some good players to get to the Semi-final like Kournikova and Mauresmo. But maybe that injury was a blessing in disguise. Serena said that after the injury in Sydney decided that she wanted to be the best in what she does
I'm not even much of a Serena fan and it annoys me she missed the AO this year, cause she would have blatantly won the calendar slam cause she was in her physical and mental prime like Steffi was in 88. Just goes to show how achieving history of that magnitude comes down to so many little things coming together in one year.
@@user-gu1un7pb7k who cares…she has held all 4 slams simultaneously in a 12 month period TWICE. If not for Pope Gregory the Great, we wouldn’t have January as our first month and December as our last. It’s completely arbitrary. 12 months is 12 months; it’s one revolution around the sun. She has won 4 in a row twice, something only Laver and Graf have also done…making it rarer than the subjective “CYGS.” Serena isn’t even Catholic so why should the Gregorian calendar discolor the reality of the achievement of holding all 4 simultaneously. It’s literally just semantics.
Awesome game Ladies!! You can still feel the energy in the air ..

Do you have Serena vs Shaughnessy Sydney 2002?
Serena is yet to win sydney
Lost chance for calendar slam. If she skipped this tournament, she wouldn't be injured.

@@user-gu1un7pb7k Serena actually almost played in Melbourne though. She asked the organizers to postpone her match one day and they said no.

Serena was not talented enough to win a Calendar Grand Slam. Such things can only be achieved by GOATs like Graf.
@@PravoslavniVitez simply not true. 12 months = 12 months. One revolution around the sun. 4 consecutive GS = Grand Slam
