Suzuki Escudo VS Toyota Celica Pikes Peak - 1996
• Suzuki Escudo VS Toyot...
1996 Pikes Peak Hill Climb
• 1996 Pikes Peak Hill C...
It made it on DIRT! And HELD it EVEN when the ROAD WAS TARMAC such a legendary car this!
Suzuki Escudo is the Gran Turismo legend but in real life the Toyota Celica SS Turbo was the better hill climb car.
Igor Fonseca The millens have always been incredible builders and drivers
Millen would have won in either car
@@superwilcox9026 facts. Tajima and Millen are both excellent drivers. The Tacoma was vastly superior than the Celica though in terms of suspension and aero. Its a shame that it was only run a couple of times (one of which had a turbo failure mid-run) before the track was paved.
All racing has risk... but not all racing has two thousand foot cliffs.
I have to say that Suzuki looked beautiful. The Celica did a bloody good job getting up there on dirt road. These guys had the right stuff.
Rod Millen really pushed his car near limit, fearless, his opponent played it too safe.
An all time classic with the Toyota and Suzuki
I grew up in woodland park and watched this race every year, such a badass race!!
Back when Japan absolutely dominated motorsports! Beautiful time in history
Cockpit view was insane!
Good old dirt track times... Awesome rides :o)
Awsome race, beautiful toyota Celica SS
I used to tune the suzuki on Gran Turismo to 1000hp haha
everyone did
I see japan car and japanese driver i like
Both cars just throwing rooster tails the whole time!! Amazing!
The ESPN guy says Toyota put alot of research, time and money into this venture, but did they? I always thought Rod and his crew were just Mad engineers with Kiwi ingenuity. That's just what I thought, not what I know. I say this because Rod owns most, if not all of his race cars to this day, if it was a Toyota thing did he get to keep it, or buy it
@L W Clears that up then. Thank you
The two gods of pikes peak dirt.
And then the red op escudo comes..
They need to run this car again, it will be much faster on tarmac
They did
Legend bro
Balls of steel
that was legendary stuff back in the years. both drivers, both cars: insane.
somehow the show lost its spirit nowadays as it is happening on a full tarmac road (back in the past it was a full gravel road).
these guys were real heroes 👍👍
Thanks for the video!!!
5:40 its 420 to beat!
Millen was on DRUGS over a MILE HIGH!
Nice.
