Great thoughts. King Benjamin taught us that we cannot be "profitable servants." However, Jesus taught us that we CAN be "good and faithful servants." I've found it so helpful to just focus on being good and faithful to the Lord. I'm not a rockstar, but I can be good and faithful.

Yes! I am in Young Women's, and so this is always on my mind. Also, I have a brother who strayed in his teens. He came back in his early 20's, then left again. He's in his late 30's and in prison, but has been feeling the Lord seeking Him. He had a cell mate, who is a son of a current Bishop. He saw my brother had a Book of Mormon and, long story short, both began reading it together. They fasted and prayed together. He's looking to get back to church after his release.
I loved what Dr. Janae Nelson said. I saw myself in her own story and I am so grateful to Heavenly Father for finding me almost 50 years ago in a tiny little town in Brazil and for giving me the hope that I have today through the gospel of His Son Jesus Christ. I hope she will come back to another lesson. She is wonderful!!

I also remember having the same reaction to Elder Bednar's talk. The wondering how did I miss the Savior isn't the foundation, but the bedrock moment. During this podcast, I think I finally understood why. The bedrock is never changing. It's been there from the very beginning. But our foundations change as we continue to learn and grow in the Gospel. We actually mix the ingredients together to create our foundations. We also decide how strong/loose the connections to the bedrock are. The awesome thing is we can go back and fix our foundations whenever we choose. We need the Saviors' help, as he's the master contractor/engineer, etc. But we can do it!

I love these episodes so much! So grateful to hear Dr. Nelson’s commentary on these sections of the Book of Mormon. She mentioned the Come Back Podcast and the remarkable stories of people’s reconversion to the gospel which have been simply amazing and evidence of God’s love and workings in these people’s lives. I’ve also thought, as she stated, that some of The Lord’s mightiest miracles will surely be when people who have left the church will come back in great numbers. I pray for and expect that miracle. I love to envision that glorious time.
Thank you all so much for your words! It's always a joy to listen to this podcast each week. Thanks for your words in particular Dr. Nelson! When you talked about how the Lord is always with us, especially in the hard times of our lives, I felt the truth of that. Right now I am struggling greatly in my marriage of 18 years. It's the hardest thing I think I may ever go through. I have felt abandoned by the Lord at times, or at least wondering where He is in all of this, despite my constant turning to Him. Hearing that He never left, and has been here with me and my family the whole time gives me courage to move forward, and take the next righteous step through this hardship.
Tremendous insights into gratitude which can be illusive. I appreciated a practical step by step pattern to set in place to deepen my gratitude and enable me to make it part of my character . I also liked the clarification that we need to show gratitude to God and others for giving us blessings, and that being grateful for things is a shallow way to feel gratitude, that is directed inward not outward. Many insights in her teachings and appreciated her sharing her journey in life ! Please have her on again.
I love Dr Janae and her personal stories and her research that helps us to find the Savior in the Book of Mormon. Hank: you mentioned a phrase re: living people and using things. It is used very eloquently by Arthur Brooks in a Ted talk called “Moral Capitalism.” As a teacher of economics omits and government for high schoolers I use this as a way to help them see the good in a world those topics usually inspired contention. I love these episodes so much! So grateful to hear Dr. Nelson’s commentary on these sections of the Book of Mormon. She mentioned the Come Back Podcast and the remarkable stories of people’s reconversion to the gospel which have been simply amazing and evidence of God’s love and workings in these people’s lives. I’ve also thought, as she stated, that some of The Lord’s mightiest miracles will surely be when people who have left the church will come back in great numbers. I pray for and expect that miracle. I love to envision that glorious time.

When you talked about how the Lord is always with us, especially in the hard times of our lives, I felt the truth of that. Right now I am struggling greatly in my marriage of 18 years. It's the hardest thing I think I may ever go through. I have felt abandoned by the Lord at times, or at least wondering where He is in all of this, despite my constant turning to Him. Hearing that He never left, and has been here with me and my family the whole time gives me courage to move forward, and take the next righteous step through this hardship.

Tremendous insights into gratitude which can be illusive. I appreciated a practical step by step pattern to set in place to deepen my gratitude and enable me to make it part of my character . I also liked the clarification that we need to show gratitude to God and others for giving us blessings, and that being grateful for things is a shallow way to feel gratitude, that is directed inward not outward.
Many insights in her teachings and appreciated her sharing her journey in life ! Please have her on again.
I love Dr Janae and her personal stories and her research that helps us to find the Savior in the Book of Mormon. Hank: you mentioned a phrase re: living people and using things. It is used very eloquently by Arthur Brooks in a Ted talk called “Moral Capitalism.” As a teacher of economics omits and government for high schoolers I use this as a way to help them see the good in a world those topics usually inspired contention. You will really enjoy his stories and applications!! Thank you Hank and John. We love you and your podcast!!❤
