Respect. Now this is a role model everyone can look up to. Male, female, black or white. We need to hear more about heroes like this and the uncles, mothers and grandmothers who raised them and encouraged them.
Martial arts. No matter your gender, race, color, Creed, background, class, etc...it is the great equalizer. But it is also something that can bring all the aforementioned together. For real. This woman is amazing
Teaches discipline, respect, perseverance and technique. That's why you see the most dedicated martial artists are usually very laid back, cause they have such a high self esteem and self respect.
People only say what you say to take away from the fact that race gender color and background all played a huge roll in this woman's life that does matter it matters a lot when you come from a place with a trap every 15 feet and as many crosses as you have bumps on your body it is important that you realize People are in the same race with completely different obstacles some with none at all but obstacles build character no one can buy that for you
@@countmur5148 no. People who train in martial arts say this because they have studied long enough to know that futile things such as admonishing someone because of race, class, color, etc. Is counterproductive when they try to better their environment. A Martial Art is a tool for empowerment as well as humility. We seek peace and look to solve conflict as best we can, all the while knowing we can defend ourself and well as others. We are learning to do what is right and to seek justice whenever/wherever it has not prevailed. Many martial artists know this and seek the common bond between all those practicing. It is something I would expect from.any martial artist....master or novice.... competent or otherwise. Sure....these things take.time.to.instill, and the journey is never ending. But that is how we progress. Maybe what you're saying is said by people who wish to further divide us? This isn't the old "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" talk....nor the "my ancestors succeeded and acclimated so why cannot yours?" notion, either. It is something that most people who train in martial arts come to realize and hold on to in order to embody. I know what you are looking for. And it isn't here. It is possible to find such nonsense everywhere, however, if that is all you are wanting to find.
Fredia, this story brought tears to my eyes for many reasons, but the biggest one of them all is that my niece favors you SO much. She has that same athletic build, and she got teased for it. She was abandoned by her mother numerous times when she was just a child, and left to fend for herself in situations where she couldn't protect herself, but now she's under our roof, and she's experiencing what family, love and structure is supposed to look and feel like. She have been so emotional through this process, and I'm seeing the trauma she's displaying. She graduated this year early because she is so intelligent. I'm about to go to her room, and show her this amazing video of this amazing woman who have been down that same road and became something that the whole world was introduced to. Thank you so much. Peace, love and respect to you Fredia Gibbs ❤️
My prayers are with your beautiful Niece! Protection and Righteous Guidance over her life! All Praises! ✨ ... and Auntie ...Protection of you and your family!

This is not "our" history.. this belongs to her alone. When you step in the ring you step in alone.. all that us vs them bs no longer matters. You're American.. your history is American history. Morgan Freeman understands this
I grew up studying martial arts with him, he's truly a one of a kind person. I think he's in his late 80's now but somehow he looks only 40. She has the exact same command in her speech and presence as he does.
Smiled the entire time! From the bullies to the uncle who invested time and skill in her, her determination, her whoop ass on the rapest, her mama with the take no ish motivation! Her sucess was inevitable! Beautiful story and great storyteller.
When she said that was a warm up that sent chills !!! It was deep because she beat a serial killer she can beat anybody !! I can’t believe I never heard of her. I’m glad I came across this video !!
What a story. She needs a movie. Or a superhero based on her character. That would be dope. Its dope seeing these stories of our people overcoming adversity.
It may have been an idea to let the police know about the attempted rape though. It's hard to know how many of those women would be alive today if she put the serial killer on the police radar when she had the chance.
David Preston you can report people to the police & they still won’t do their jobs 🤷🏽♂️ I got shot for no reason i have evidence by a off duty cop on 12/15/19 he still hasn’t been charged or arrested. So that just goes to show you they don’t gaf especially about black women. 💯

Disgusting and the media keeps PUSHING it year in year put ..decade in decade out
We need a movie done about her.
They're working on her story I believe. If you follow her on Instagram she's been getting some people reaching out to her :-)
YES!! I was just saying this, Imma Highlight her for my Black History Month illustrations, and put her in my Black History Illustration book!
Its imperative her story be told. Her uncle literally prepared her for a life or death situation Amen.
And Danai Gurira could play her or Lupita N'yongo but she will need to hit the gym seriously and tone her body because This lady had a frame back then!
I already see Leslie from SNL playing her
Great storyteller.
Her story deserves a movie. It will be a classic.
I agree!!!!
That's what I said
Oh my goodness, I didn't know such a gem existed. This was an amazing story and deserves to become a movie. Netflix please pick this up and make it happen.
This Is The Movie Everyone Is Waiting To See ASAP. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yes
Get er done😊👍🏿
Women need more motivation like this
Agreed!!!!
I'd pay to watch it!
Beautiful, Black, educated, articulate, talented Queen - your story is so inspiring
Can I stick it in now??? Ha ha!!
@Faerûnian right.....as if achievements should only be acknowledged during Feb.
Yes!
BLM
lol she competed for only 6 years with xe16 wins 15 ko’s which isn’t too bad but no named fighters who she has beaten.. she’s not even close to the baddest woman on the planet at all... Amanda Nunes, Holly Holm, Chris Cyborg, Ronda Rousey to mention a few are all above her and they’re, smart, beautiful, educated, respectful, faithful.... and they aren’t black... I love you race baiters you crease me up, like the colour of skin determines ANYTHING?!?!
Her story needs to be told on s larger screen. It’s worth it. Stay strong Sista.
I've watched this for the second time and sister still brings tears to my eyes. A true testament to a higher powers answer when fear is driven out and faith takes over. I've recommended this story to many. A movie must be made. POWERFUL BLACK WOMEN. 1 of many.....
Its something about those brown girls, tell her she's special she just might believe you. Big hugs beautiful thank you for taking the time to love yourself. Much respect
She doesn't look 57 years old and her skill is amazing
Damn! 57?! No way!
I don't look 45 but that's what it is when we lead a super healthy life !!
That's melanin. My mom's 70 and looks 45 no joke. People who don't know her do not believe she's that old
We need more uncles like hers!! Protect and uplift our women, stop molesting and breaking our women down period! Real men respect women! Yes I am a man.
Blazze777 we need more men to think like you too! 😊💚🦹♀️
thank you sir! You are a real man!
Blaze... you can start by NOT referring to Black women as "our women". We are not yours. Problem is...men really don't do shit for women unless they can claim some type of ownership & dominion over them. Period.
Thank you Sir
@@dreaminbronze9189 This goes out to Blaze, you see what simping gets you? We protect and provide for the women that follow our leadership. Dream en Bronze you could have excepted what the man said but no, you felt more comfortable being disagreeable.
Her story made me tear up and wow @ her uncle’s training coming full circle when she really had to fight for a key for her survival. Absolutely beautiful story.
This beautiful black woman is awesome, why haven’t we heard of her until now???
RIGHT?! Goin' do my homework on her right nah!
Great. Storie. Throw. Back. History

She has definitely been around.
@Sleepy Jones huh?
There is nothing in this world more beautiful than the power of a black woman on display. She literally fought hand over fist for her position in life
My youngest daughter is struggling with her self identify, school and body image I think THIS may be for her!! Thank you for sharing her story!! My baby is a fighter too, I’ma help her find her way 💪🏽💖

What an Inspirational Warrior Queen. ❤️
@Jakman char* is he really like MJ? 😉
Kickass warrior woman!

Yeah
Beautiful God bless you and your family 🫂
My prayers are with your beautiful Niece! Protection and Righteous Guidance over her life! All Praises! ✨
... and Auntie ...Protection of you and your family!
Thanks for sharing that heart warming story.
No thank you for stepping in her life!
One of the greatest women in history and she will be remembered forever.
I, never heard of Fredia Gibbs? I, will never forget her now! This, sounds like a great movie or Autobiography even both? I, know i would love to read the book, see the movie or both! This, was to short, you left me wanting more!!!!
Same here... Going to see what more is out there. Phenomenon woman!

NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEAUTIFUL QUEEN MYSELF SHE NEVER GAVE UP, A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR OTHER WOMEN TO FOLLOW, WHAT A GIFT OF A STORY TO SEE AND HEAR 🖤👸❤🧙🏿♂️
Look up Ann Wolfe.
RELIK MOON ...same here.
The strength of a woman in this situation made me cry cause she could have been dead
Naw his ASS would have been dead if he didn't tell her where that key was😅
That is the truth
I know she's done it for ones that didn't get away.
@@sharoneastwood.1025 that is so true

T.i. is that you? 🤣⚖️
...yes a stately beautiful queen. Will look for a blk n white poster of her. Movie! Movie!
I got chills, she’s an incredible human 🙏🏼
She is a hero, the respect that I have for her is boundless.
Amazing woman. Her uncle was amazing also. This should be a major motion picture!!
I agree 100%
The kind of strong Black men we need
absolutely
Amen Ra.
Agreed
This made me cry tears of joy nice to see our history they dnt tell is about
Me too.
I'm bawling n I don't know why!!! 😭 She made me rethink about who I am and what I stand for! 👊🏿 💪🏾
This is not "our" history.. this belongs to her alone. When you step in the ring you step in alone.. all that us vs them bs no longer matters. You're American.. your history is American history. Morgan Freeman understands this
Right Christa Armstead , I do agree. She saved a life of another black woman from getting rape and killed.
Exactly
This is a brave woman worth celebrating and looking up to. I admire you.
This woman's uncle was a divine placement in her life.
I grew up studying martial arts with him, he's truly a one of a kind person. I think he's in his late 80's now but somehow he looks only 40. She has the exact same command in her speech and presence as he does.
Was her uncle a Koga Ninja for real?
You nailed it with that comment! I was thinking about her uncle throughout the video.

When she said that was a warm up that sent chills !!! It was deep because she beat a serial killer she can beat anybody !! I can’t believe I never heard of her. I’m glad I came across this video !!
So much respect to this woman. I would love to see her give a TED talk.
Nah, forget TED. That aim is too low for such greatness. This is a movie that would be much better than “Creed”.
I'm ashamed, I never heard of her. Being a so-called educated Black woman and I missed this. Shame on me! I'll do better .I'll be better.!
Ummmm we are in the same boat. What the heck have we been up to? Geez!!
Its not your fault they scream our failures and only whisper our achievements 🖤✊🏿🖤
Abdul Fattah, very well put brother. A classic example of truth to power.
Now we ALL do....
The color of your skin does not determine your story.
What a story. She needs a movie. Or a superhero based on her character. That would be dope. Its dope seeing these stories of our people overcoming adversity.
Here whole attitude and sauce got DC written all over it.
Straight up. Brought tears to my eyes
She was supposed to but I don't know what happened
Our people? You mean Americans?
@@salttrader8409 Lolololol. Classic.
This needs to be a movie … a series …. Thank you for this!
The serial killer part really sparked it she’s a real American superwoman all out hands down May more blessings find you💪🏾
It may have been an idea to let the police know about the attempted rape though.
This should be about 2 hours longer. 10 minutes is just disrespectful. She escaped a fuckin serial killer bruh. I remember watching a story about him
Amen to that brother it should be she is an amazing woman
Any other woman would of mostly likely been dead
As much as I want more hours too I appreciate what this channel had done ,which is introducing me to lady Gibbs.
She really needs a documentary. Straight up. Iron Woman.
wow.. that actually brought a tear to my eye and wasn't nobody cutting onions.
I come back to this video from time to time when I need inspiration to claw my way out of bad times and bad treatment. Works every time and she’s become a personal idol I can rely on to fire me up instead of of feeling defeated ❤
WHEN SHE PRAYED AND GOD GAVE HER STRENGTH. WHEN SAMSON PRAYED HE GOT THE SAME AND SO DID DAVID.. DAMN

That's why we have to put all our faith in God

Tears. Until you're able to allow them to flow freely, in private, about sweet things such as this woman's triumph over her struggles, you won't be a sound, male figure in anyone's life.
Too few stories on Black American martial artists, and especially females. Good job Sideline!
