Cuisinart says you can use this tray for melting butter but it’s not ideal for it as the kernels (and popped corn) block much of the hot air that would otherwise rise up and help melt it.

The tray is a measuring cup only on hot air poppers , on hot rotary plate poppers you can melt butter in the top.
