16:48 One of the novels you'll see is called "Catch-22" by Joseph Keller. Catch-22 refers to a problem where the solution is blocked by the problem itself. In the story, a WWII bomb pilot was mentally insane, and thus didn't have to fly on any missions. However, in order to be excused from flying, you must ask for an evaluation. By evaluating, you are deemed sane, which was a major loophole in this rule. So he proceeded to fly on the missions despite being insane. The other novel is more well-known, and it's "Catcher in the Rye", by J.D. Salinger. A NY times bestseller. Catcher in the rye refers to someone who saves children from falling off a cliff, which is also a metaphor for adolescence to adulthood. The book is most popular for the very last line in the book- "Don't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody." Theoretically, this means that Holden, the main character/narrator, made up all of the stories that take place within the book. For context, in the very first page of the book, Holden says, "Besides, I'm not going to tell you my whole goddam autobiography or anything. I'll just tell you about this madman stuff that happened to me around last Christmas just before I got pretty run-down and had to come out here and take it easy." Then, coming back to the last page, he explains, "I could probably tell you what I did after I went home, and how I got sick and all, and what school I'm supposed to go to next fall, after I get out of here." "Here" refers to the [mental] hospital. "Sick" refers to him being crazy. Holden was put here by his family when they found out none of his stories are true, and when he says the very last line in the book, he means that when he told his stories, his family (from his point of view) sent him away, and now he never gets to see them. Conclusion: Both novels at this timestamp involve the word "catch" and the main character being crazy. The first one is crazy, but has to be evaluated for it to be *crazy*, thus contradicting him truly being crazy, while the second one involves the main character making fake, yet incredibly realistic and believable stories, which leaves him isolated from his family and loved ones. I think Raymond believes he has gone mentally insane from how shitty the Colts are to his long-lost son dying without him getting to reunite; and now all he has left is Rocky, whom could in the end be another disappointment, much like he was to his son, and the Colts are to their fanbase (this coming from a Colts fan), which is why he wants to travel alone because he thinks nobody will believe him, and/or they'll be disappointed.
