Well my interpretation of it was that he only dreamt it all up as a kid. When he got off the toy, he imagined himself working hard and long throughout his life until one day he'd empty it all to launch off in the spaceship! So the whole film didn't really span decades, it covers only a timespan of about 5 minutes that he spent fantasizing about his childhood! I think it's all the more plausible since the film begins with fantasizing as well :)
When we're kids, We dream of growing up and reaching the stars, but in the end, we spend our whole lives working, wishing for one chance to be a kid again.

Worthy of the winning award movie title, it was one of the great 5 minutes in my life. The man worked hard, he dreamt big and he achieved his dream. In my opinion, the film is not a moral lesson about working hard or money’s power, but the importance of having a goal/dream in our life, the one that motivate us to move forward, to live another day, and to pursue our own happiness. By the way, his disappointed face when he first tried the rocket spring rider was priceless, such a pure innocent look (and a little cute) when he found out the reality does not like his expectation, we all have been there, right:)?. That’s all for my amateur critics, peace.
I imagine he died of disappointment when the ride doesn't go to the moon. But when he dies (while sitting in the ride) his young soul travels to the moon.

You are way off... He wasted his life.... He spent his whole life selling lemonade just to throw away ALL his lifetime earnings on a coin-operated ride, & his senility made him to believe that it actually took off & left scorch marks behind... the senility also made him feel like a child again when it began moving.
I interpreted it this way. The whole story happened in the mind of the kid after the first disappointing 5¢ ride. That's why the price of lemonade never changed and he was assessing how many years and 5¢s it'd take for him to actually go that distant. He could only think of lemonade stand as the only way to earn money atm. It just represented his passion, will and drive to fly to the moon. This is a brilliant display of a child's vivid imagination. Thanks for making it. :)

For those who take it literally, this is a metaphor of our life, how we spend some time in our childhood bored, and ending up wanting to go back there in the end.
Hats off to all the creatives that can pack all that sense of whimsy and emotion into such a small, tightly-woven story...and all without a word of dialogue.
This is a beautiful story. I use it with my English students. I show them some screen grabs and get them to create a story and then they compare their story to the original. Everyone loves it! They then go home and recreate the feelings and thoughts in their own written version of the film. Brilliant stuff!
When he was a kid and wondered why the rocket didnt flew to the moon shows that he is getting matured and leaving childhood. "The film shows that we would give everything to feel the exact happiness that we felt when we were kids"
I saw it this way. We all had a dream that motivated us to work hard in life. We may end up in jobs we didn't initially choose, forgetting what our hearts wanted in the first place. But it's not too late to embrace your childhood dream again when you finally remember later on. 😊
every child has big dreams and they want to realize them, some of them realize them, others live and become their dreams without realizing them, but the main thing is that you should keep working for your dreams, no matter what this short film tells
Not the way I thought it would go. You dream, go to collage, become the astronaut he wanted to be. Never thought he be to old crazy man that save every nickel he earned to to pop into that little ride. But I found myself holding my breath as those last two coins fell into place, and off he went. He was that little kid again living his dream. To make it even better, it's the short that kept giving. Showing the remains of the rocket base, the rocket flying threw the credits. Wonderful story telling, with out a word said.
Yea I thought it was a success story with the kid studied hard and joined NASA, and when he returned Earth after his first mission, the first thing he did was to ride the toy machine again.
it reminds me of a song named "fix u by coldplay " and i think it's so relatable to this : When you try your best, but you don't succeed When you get what you want, but not what you need When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep Stuck in reverse And the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you can't replace When you love someone, but it goes to waste Could it be worse? Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix yo
what I get from this movie is that dreams we have might seem impossible and everyone might think our dreams are impossible but if we focus and work hard for it, we'll be able to achieve it one day ☺
Rex Grignon visited one of my animation classes as a guest speaker earlier in the year and showed us your film, and I’ve been eagerly waiting to watch it again ever since! This film is absolutely outstanding!! The boarding, design, lighting (love how it starts off in the morning and progresses to evening as he ages!), the message is powerful, textures are gorgeous, I could go on and on! It’s also specifically inspiring that it’s made by independent artists, especially to me and my friend as students who are dreaming to pursue our film idea. Thank you and congratulations to you and your incredible team, and good luck to you on any future projects you pursue! (And PROPS to the musicians! Bookmarking those names to look into later!! :))
4:40 That's one detail that if you miss, you can miss the whole point. I love how in the end was the kid that was flying... we all must have pure, child-like hearts! And don't stop believing!
I relate to this so much. Its about how through hope and determination, even the most naive and out of this world things are possible. And that's what I am. Naive. Hopeful. And determined. And for me, there is nothing that is truly impossible.
Hey Creater, This is a beautiful story. I was with the character all the time, and in the last scene when he had put all the coins in the machine, I was hoping for the plane to fly just like the character was.. and I was holding back my breath through out the time knowing it will not fly but it did and that was the magic.. that is the magic.. I smiled. Thank-You! :)
I felt the exact same way, knowing to certain that it was still a toy, regardless of how many coins you threw at it...then it happened, and it was blissful...
4:40 the old man finally gets to use the rocket ship, and fulfills his dream of being an astronaut..."One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind, and a chance for an elderly man to fulfill his dream..." I have tears in my eyes seeing that...
This was a good film because it teaches children that you have to have a little job so people could give you coins and then you could get what you wanted.
Is it just me or everyone saw at the end the old guy go back to being young kid once again. I guess the old dude died and then his young spirit travel through the sky
CSTE-Nice cartoon ! For me, the moral of this story is :"Don't let go your dreams". Because, even if you are old, you can reach your dreams. I think, the work is better when you have motivation, like the little boy, he works all his life to reach his dream-CSTE
Dang I was so sad when he realizes the machine didn't work, after all those years of working and he finally got it, he lost it..you can see he got teary a bit in his eyes anyways awesome animation!👏
Moral of the story: don't give up or you will waste 5 cents on a ride and the mom didn't just go home without him she just went in the store for 50 years or something
The ending gave me goose bumps 🙌♥✨, this faith is so needed💫 I almost teared up when I felt all his hardwork is gone into vain but indeed it Haven't ❤❤✌
I think it’s sad how people have to work their whole life just for one drea and never achieve it. Lesson learned: never pursue your impossible childhood dreams”
theory: the boy actually didn't grow old. it was just in metaphorical sense. it was to show the toll his little heart took to make the rocket work. supporting argument include the fact that nothing in background changes during time lapse and he is a child again in last clip
Love this - animation is good, storytelling is great. Reminds me of early Pixar shorts before Disney handed off creative to focus groups and accountants - well done!
Moral: If you only have one item on your bucket list..make it something awesome and epic then work at it.. and eventually 450,000+ people will want to join you too!
The old man became insane and completely detached from reality once he realized the end goal he'd been working toward for his entire life was unachievable. This is evidenced by his appearance reverting back to its childhood self in his hallucination in the final scene.
How moving this film is. It is so metaphoric of the hardships of our lives in the pursuit of our dreams... provided we do not lose sight of them as we grow up. Many many thanks for this beautiful work. Happy new Year to all (Joëlle from Paris).

But he could end university as engineer, work in NASA/SpaceX/Baikonur/(another space station) and became an astronaut instead of lemon business...

For those who take it literally, this is a metaphor of our life, how we spend some time in our childhood bored, and ending up wanting to go back there in the end.
Yeah sure
Hats off to all the creatives that can pack all that sense of whimsy and emotion into such a small, tightly-woven story...and all without a word of dialogue.
Legend says that mom hasn't returned from the grocery store yet 😂
😂
😅😂
The mom was in a hurry for a hook up
Didn’t ask
\
The bit were it didn't work at the end was really sad and it almost made me cry
I actually did
Was beautiful to watch on a 32:9 screen - finally someone who knows how to upload in the native aspect ratio.
This is a beautiful story. I use it with my English students. I show them some screen grabs and get them to create a story and then they compare their story to the original. Everyone loves it! They then go home and recreate the feelings and thoughts in their own written version of the film. Brilliant stuff!
So cool to hear that! Cheers!
You're a good teacher!! 🤟😁🤟
Great idea 👏🏿👏🏿
nice
😮
When life gives you lemons
You spent the rest of your life selling lemonade to save up and go to space.
Edit: Thanks for all the likes!
And later die case you didn't have the right stuff for space
Later he died HE NEEDS A FRICKING OXIGEN TANK
I hate to be that guy but... *Spend
u make lemonade haha
When he was a kid and wondered why the rocket didnt flew to the moon shows that he is getting matured and leaving childhood.
"The film shows that we would give everything to feel the exact happiness that we felt when we were kids"
thank you for completing my movie analysis project
possibly the only amazing cgi short ive seen. made me cry as a nine year old. holds a place in my heart.
kinda sad actually...
Well he turns into a kid again..
Or its sad that people build such crappy rides
Its sad because he will die .. he will go up means in heaven
I saw it this way. We all had a dream that motivated us to work hard in life. We may end up in jobs we didn't initially choose, forgetting what our hearts wanted in the first place. But it's not too late to embrace your childhood dream again when you finally remember later on. 😊
well this makes more sense than my theory 👍🤔
Yeah, this theory is right
Some of the smoothest transitions from one scene to another ever!
every child has big dreams and they want to realize them, some of them realize them, others live and become their dreams without realizing them, but the main thing is that you should keep working for your dreams, no matter what this short film tells
okeday
He should have studied & got himself into Nasa in all those years instead!
Thats not the point of the story
0 sense of humour.😂😂
I thought the same
U killed emotion.
Well from all the sad emotions aside, if he really did launch into space with that rocket he wouldve died anyways because of suffocation
T
Stop imagination and join NASA today!!!
its not that easy bro
And let's save Mr. Stark
Yea I thought it was a success story with the kid studied hard and joined NASA, and when he returned Earth after his first mission, the first thing he did was to ride the toy machine again.
Like i am gonna get accepted

it reminds me of a song named "fix u by coldplay " and i think it's so relatable to this :
When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse
And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix yo
Depicts Elon Musk. Lemons were just a metaphor of work and lots of it. The rocket was a goal and lifelong dream since he was a kid. Tearjerker.
Only few people like enough to realize their dreams even with potential. Ex Tesla. In that case Elon is an exception. He truly achieved his dream..

So he went to the moon with no oxygen and died he did not know becuase he did not get educated

No matter how big the dream is, if morale is high and perseverance, no one can stop you from achieving it.
he took i dont have a life to whole new level
🤣🤣🤣😭
what I get from this movie is that dreams we have might seem impossible and everyone might think our dreams are impossible but if we focus and work hard for it, we'll be able to achieve it one day ☺
the truth of our life is it takes time, money hard work and and some times the whole life to complete our dreams with satisfaction
Thank you so much Elizabeth! I have been inspired by so many films as well - and I can't wait to be inspired by yours!
What's the message?
@@TwoGhosts yeah🎉
4:40 That's one detail that if you miss, you can miss the whole point. I love how in the end was the kid that was flying... we all must have pure, child-like hearts! And don't stop believing!
I relate to this so much. Its about how through hope and determination, even the most naive and out of this world things are possible. And that's what I am. Naive. Hopeful. And determined. And for me, there is nothing that is truly impossible.
*dials phone*
Phineas? Ferb? I think i found out where they transfered that rocket too
Yeah that is what I thought of.
Pheonix Flight lol
lol
I saw him as a child again
Beautifully directed, absolutely amazing output and animations. Loved the whole short, thank you for keeping it free...much appreciated
[Invest in your Dreams] finally things will take off as tough as it might be or however long it might take.
AnDRAWid *”Invest in your dreams”* OHHHHHH
Thank you☺️
This is a super cute, and heart felt short film. It deserved every last one of those awards 👏🌹
This was a good film because it teaches children that you have to have a little job so people could give you coins and then you could get what you wanted.
Is it just me or everyone saw at the end the old guy go back to being young kid once again. I guess the old dude died and then his young spirit travel through the sky
Aww now I'm sad.😢
“Saving as a kid feels like a lifetime”
Beautifully animated story with a universal theme of striving for one's life dream. The ending was just magical.
CSTE-Nice cartoon !
For me, the moral of this story is :"Don't let go your dreams".
Because, even if you are old, you can reach your dreams.
I think, the work is better when you have motivation, like the little boy, he works all his life to reach his dream-CSTE
So he spent almost his whole life making lemonade and staring at us 👏 👏
The part where his old self started crying, broke my heart. He looked so dissapointed and sad

This short film is so good I like how it shows how hard he worked for this ever since he was a child 1,000,000,000,000,000,000/10.
Work Harder not smarter!
This video brought me to my childhood😢Im too emotional😭😭😭
Dang I was so sad when he realizes the machine didn't work, after all those years of working and he finally got it, he lost it..you can see he got teary a bit in his eyes anyways awesome animation!👏
Definitely the most heartwarming animation I've ever seen. Well done!
I think the selling of lemonade depicted him really working hard to see his dream come true.
Great storyline that carried the audience the full say to the moon. Thank you for creating and sharing.
Moral of the story: don't give up or you will waste 5 cents on a ride and the mom didn't just go home without him she just went in the store for 50 years or something
He imagined being old I love that AMAZING WORK
Selling lemonade for so long? 😓
Yeah and even the coin plane was there all along
He was imagining all along
What i mean is that he didn't even get a proper job. That is so sad 😥
Story of life
@@arviedino he was just imagining
This movie keeps bringing tears to my eyes. I don't know how.
It's just the soft 'bonk' of the old man's fist on the rocket when it doesn't seem to start.
This movie is just bulls eye.
Twist plot:
He died of a stroke at the end, but his soul lived his childhood dream of taking off for the space.
SOOOO TRUE

I almost teared up when I felt all his hardwork is gone into vain but indeed it Haven't ❤❤✌
I think it’s sad how people have to work their whole life just for one drea and never achieve it. Lesson learned: never pursue your impossible childhood dreams”
When his tears came I’m almost crying 😢

theory: the boy actually didn't grow old. it was just in metaphorical sense. it was to show the toll his little heart took to make the rocket work.
supporting argument include the fact that nothing in background changes during time lapse and he is a child again in last clip
Love this - animation is good, storytelling is great. Reminds me of early Pixar shorts before Disney handed off creative to focus groups and accountants - well done!
he wasted his life selling lemonade until he got shot up into space and died.Good story :)
He needs to meet the gal from One Small Step :3
YES
And here I thought that this short would be similar but NOPE!!
Nicca Smith omg yesssss
Yesss!
Yes yes YES
Moral: If you only have one item on your bucket list..make it something awesome and epic then work at it.. and eventually 450,000+ people will want to join you too!
I can totally imagine my young self getting excited to get on the ride but totally getting disappointed
The old man became insane and completely detached from reality once he realized the end goal he'd been working toward for his entire life was unachievable. This is evidenced by his appearance reverting back to its childhood self in his hallucination in the final scene.
This is the greatest short film I've ever watched so far. Well done
Wowzers, thanks!

That’s depressing.
@@terenoy I like my idea more! It's worked so far!
How moving this film is. It is so metaphoric of the hardships of our lives in the pursuit of our dreams... provided we do not lose sight of them as we grow up.
Many many thanks for this beautiful work. Happy new Year to all (Joëlle from Paris).
After watch this animation, I realized that beside dreams, education and parenting are important.
So... Coins are the fuel of that rocket? :D
yes coins are fuel
