Chinese Silver Dollar Coins "Yuan Big Head" "Fatman Dollar"

These are the "Yuan Big Head" or "Fatman Dollar" coins from the Chinese republic years 9 and 10. They are very special coins which have a lot of history behind them, especially for my family.

The Fatman dollar marks the history of the Republic of China and almost can be seen in a number of Chinese families as a form of heirlooms. Take mine, my grandfather left my father about 10 Fatman dollars that were left to me previously due to my marriage.

Thanks for sharing your family heirlooms, I was given a "Fat Man" coin a couple of weeks ago and it looks a little different then the ones you have. I think it is the 5th version? It has two lines of Chinese writing on the right behind his head in a small vertical inlay rectangle box. I tried a magnet to see if fake or real and the magnet did not lift off of the table or stick to it in any way. It is a really cool coin and would love to know if it is real. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bill Silver I haven't really researched the prices. A quick browse on eBay only found some sellers asking for a certain price, but no recent achieved sales I know of. If you also find any more info please let me know too.

SilverCoin it’s really hard to say, on some chinese sites they’re going for anything depending on the version of the coin, anywhere from 50USD to 40000USD
I’m no expert but the ones in the video look like the Q version which go for about 400 usd each.

We have these yuan big heads in hour family as well. Heirlooms from China. As the older generation were not keen on how to authenticate them, we found fakes mixed in with the real coins in our Fatman heirlooms. Only thing I can do now if make key chains out of the fake ones and give them out to members of the family. 😑
