It's so far back, I can't remember if I had issues with it. I modeled mine in the open position, were you modeling yours closed? Here's the "Final Reveal" video to show you my open canopy.... th-cam.com/video/nFGehRnuUeE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6AbUnJo_le2_ja7b Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃
You brought out the cockpit detail so beautifully. I love the colours and the realistic seatbelts and leather look of the padding of the seats. My favourite part is when you paint the exterior, though. Then the aircraft really comes to life. I look forward to the next video!
Thanks Trevor, much appreciated...glad you like how the cockpit turned out. I'm hoping to get the next video out by Monday of next week, all going well. Cheers : )
Thanks, much appreciated mate. I never used to be able to paint detail like this until I bought myself a pair of Opti-Visors with up to 8x magnification. Give some a try, they help a lot! Cheers : )
Thanks David, much appreciated! I'm not sure mine will be the benchmark, we have some great builders in the group...one of whom does regular build articles for the "Scale Aircraft Modeller" and "Model Aircraft" magazines! Looking forward to seeing what you do with yours mate! Cheers : )
Looks like a nice Revell kit! Great cockpit detail. That's the only thing keeping me from buying their P-40, Zero, Hellcat.....no cockpit detail. That is what is fun! Looking good!
Thanks Drew, much appreciated mate. It has been a very good kit so far and I'm enjoying it...probably because of all that cockpit detail. It takes a long time to do detailed cockpits like this....i spent around a week on this one, but it's worth it in the end for the end result. Cheers : )
Cool! If I was living in the UK, I'd be doing the same thing, riding the tram or a local train and working on the way to the office...get through that mountain of emails I used to wake up to every morning. Do they have wifi on the trains?
International British Modeler they have wifi, it's free on the tram but you have to pay for it on the train. I plan on using time to do my video editing.
Thanks Warren me old China! Hope you;re doing well and not having too many withdrawals from fondling styrene? Yes...the trouble with these Luftwaffe aircraft a lot of them have large greenhouses...takes forever to mask them! Next video out on Monday, all going well. Take care for now mate....Cheers : )
Your welcome me old China! Lol.Yes my finger's are getting me into trouble at the moment lol.Don't think I will last anymore than a month and I will be back.Keep going into the man cave and starring at my BF109-F4 Tropical lol.Having some beautiful weather here at the moment touch wood ;)
We just had our 20th Snowstorm a few days ago...we've been covered with snow since the middle of November...it f**king sucks!! I'm not dreaming of a white Easter so it better piss off quick!! :P Enjoy the weather mate, as soon as we get hot weather, I'll be making the most of every day in the sun, because we don't get much of it! Cheers : )
International British Modeler I am dreaming of a white Easter lol. That's a bumer mate.I will buy you a snow shovel for your birthday. Least its not rain like in the UK ;)
Ha ha...don;t need anymore snow shovels, we have two large ones already mate! Not just the snow though, it's the freezing cold temperatures too....at least it's been warm in the UK for a while npw and I bet you jave leaves and blossom on the trees and plants have come up already. We lose the leaves on our trees at the beginning of October and they don;t return until mid May and flowers don;t appear until end of April...so, the trees are brown and bare for 7 months of the year, only 5 months with leaves...7 months is a long time to be staring at brown miserable scenery, it gets really depressing for me...I love to be in all year sunshine : )
Well, I had an incident with the canopy and lost interest in it for a bit! Last pics I uploaded was me starting the masking. I have since corrected the issue(kinda/sorta)! Been sick the last week with not much building. Gonna get back on it hopefully in the next few days. I am at the painting stage now. So, hopefully no more incidents!! I seen your post where you had an issue with the decals. So, I am gonna coat mine before hand to avoid the same issue!
Sorry to hear you had an issue with the canopy and got sick, too....hope you;re feeling much better? Yes, although my decals looked really nice and crisp with no yellowing or signs of cracking (see photos of the decal sheet in my introduction photos) they crumbled as soon as they went into water, the reason i didn't do any prevention work prior to using them. Ha well, we live and learn, and so going forward, any kit older than 5 years, I'll be airbrushing decal film onto them. Good luck with your decals! Cheers : )
Cool stuff, Martin! I love the cockpit details. Look amazingly nice for a rather old kit. I guess that'll be another of your enjoyable series, mate. Take care. :)
Thanks Jens, much appreciated mate. Yes, this has been an enjoyable build so far....I really like detailing the cockpits, but it takes about a week to do just that part of the model, so, plenty of patience required. Cheers : )
Love the interior detail work, Martin. She's going to be a striking and lethal looking lady. Keep having fun Brother. Bill PS: going on Evilbay to find a 410 kit.
Thanks Bill, much appreciated, and, this sounds exciting...if you find a Me 410 on Evilbay are you intimating that you will be joining in with the Me 410 Buddy Build?! If so, it'll be a huge honor to have you join in with us Bill! Cheers : )
Thanks Bob, much appreciated. You don;t have to catch up, your builder number eleven to make a start on their model, we still have another 10 modelers to make a start on theirs. : )
Looks like I'll be starting over, I discovered last night that the new Revell kit includes a full pre painted photo etch set for the cockpit, so I ordered one. manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-5990.pdf
Thanks Faron, much appreciated mate, and yes, a young chap on Facebook contacted me and sent photos of his spare decal sheet which looked really good; it was printed in 2013, so should be good. He lives in the next state, Massachusett and he posted them yesterday (Monday), so, they'll be here tomorrow, Wednesday! Cheers : )
Hey Bob, thanks for watching, much appreciated and hope you;re doing well? The man cave is slow, unfortunately....it seems this very long snowy and very cold winter we're having (still covered in snow here) has aggravated my back pains which in turn prevents me doing any manual work. But, to answer your question, to date, all I have achieved is to clear the room out, remove the old woodwork, fill and sand the walls ready for painting. I guess I have to stop being so optimistic with my plans and take it week by week. Did you get hit with the recent snow-storm? We've had 20 snow storms and showers in between since the middle of November and constantly covered with snow. It's April and I'm not "Dreaming of a White Easter!!" Cheers : )
HA! No we've been lucky, only 2 real storms to speak of the rest rain. But I have noticed all the snow upper NE has been getting, now you've got rain coming! Enjoy the mess! Got shots last month for the back and it is feeling better. Still building and reading. On my 2nd P-47 of the year already{1/32nd scale} first was the D-30, now I'm onto the speedy M-1 version. Hasegawa plastic, not very detailed. After that Trumpeter 1/32nd P-47's D-23 "Razorback" then the "N" version. CANNOT believe the detail in the Trumpeter plastic! Best deal for the money. Even the 109's pack in the detail,I've got a few of them also. Talk at ya later!
You have to start sharing your builds mate...we need to see photos! Sounds like you've been keeping busy and I've not built a trumpeter kit, yet...I should treat myself to one and give one a try....preferably 1/32 as you are doing to save the eyes! Cheers for now : )
Thanks Paul, much appreciated mate, and, no plan...that's just the way I talk. Slightly different than when I lived in the UK, it seems I've lost my strong Leicester accent and it is now mixed with American inflections. Cheers : )
I still can't get the dry-brushing of the aluminum to show wear as good as you do it though...that part is still doing me head in mate! Thanks for watching, cheers : )
I just found this video, 7 years later.
Brought back trauma from that canopy!
Only part of that kit I had issues with.
It's so far back, I can't remember if I had issues with it. I modeled mine in the open position, were you modeling yours closed? Here's the "Final Reveal" video to show you my open canopy.... th-cam.com/video/nFGehRnuUeE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6AbUnJo_le2_ja7b

You killed that interior detail. I've never been able to paint with that kind of detail. Great job Martin☺👍
Thanks, much appreciated mate. I never used to be able to paint detail like this until I bought myself a pair of Opti-Visors with up to 8x magnification. Give some a try, they help a lot! Cheers : )
A flying start Martin, just finishing my Brit GB so I can then begin mine, yours will be the benchmark. 4-10 Big Buddy.
Thanks David, much appreciated! I'm not sure mine will be the benchmark, we have some great builders in the group...one of whom does regular build articles for the "Scale Aircraft Modeller" and "Model Aircraft" magazines! Looking forward to seeing what you do with yours mate! Cheers : )
A methodic build and plan which will become a masterpiece!
I hope so! Thanks for watching mate! Cheers : )
Great update Martin. Nice details in the cockpit area. Doing a fine job on her.
Thanks Michael, much appreciated mate! Cheers : )

Thanks Ste, much appreciated mate! Hope all is well?! Cheers : )
beautiful work as ever Martin.liking the detail in the 'pit.
Thanks Ian, much appreciated mate. Cheers : )
International British Modeler managed to watch this on the tram with free wifi. I prefer not to drive to work these days. means I can watch this
Makes sense and gives you more time at home with family : )
Hi Martin, sweet detail in the cockpit area!! Don't you just love masking up the green house lol.Great video mate and look forward to the next one ;)
Thanks Warren me old China! Hope you;re doing well and not having too many withdrawals from fondling styrene? Fabulous work Martin!!
Thanks Kenny, much appreciated mate! How's yours coming along...any progression since your last posting?
Well, I had an incident with the canopy and lost interest in it for a bit!

Thanks Mark, always appreciated. Did "TH-camModelers" get disbanded?....I never get notifications anymore and haven't for a while? Cheers :)
International British Modeler no chap. Still going strong. Is it a Google setting issue maybe?
I have no clue mate, I thought I'd been banned from the group for some strange reason? I'll check through settings on Google later today. Cheers : )
You Banned ??? Never ! must be a settings or notification issues... like a clicky button thingy ! LOL all the best Martin !

Oooops lol
Fantastic!!!!
Thanks Kevin, greatly appreciated! : )
Looks good Martin, I got lots of catching up to do!
Wow....that looks super cool. Since when did Revell begin to include PE in their models?!
It's a 2013 kit, I'll do a review when it arrives.
Cool :)
good update there Martin nice build so far the revell kit looks a good model top stuff as always did u manage to get new decals
Cheers : )
Looks good Martin - Still no man cave yet? How's the progress on that?
Hey Bob, thanks for watching, much appreciated and hope you;re doing well? Nice progress, did you plan to have your voice overs sound like a pilot talking through his coms or is it just a pleasant coincidence. 😊
Thanks Paul, much appreciated mate, and, no plan...that's just the way I talk. Slightly different than when I lived in the UK, it seems I've lost my strong Leicester accent and it is now mixed with American inflections. Cheers : )
see???? you have no problems painting cockpits
I still can't get the dry-brushing of the aluminum to show wear as good as you do it though...that part is still doing me head in mate! Thanks for watching, cheers : )
