Wisp Resort Maryland | First Time Skiing

- Since we've had a lot of snow this winter, Rachel and I decided to give skiing a try. We found a pretty good deal two hours away in Deep Creek Maryland at Wisp Ski Resort. I had never skied before, so it was going to be interesting. We stayed nearby at the Lodges at Sunset Village, a nice little complex with log cabin duplexes. Hope you enjoy!!

First place I ever snow skiied. then I ended up working at Keystone Ski Resort in Colorado
Would love to ski in Colorado some time!!

Awesome video! My wife and I are going to try and make it out there this season. All my life growing up in MD and I haven't tried skiing or snowboarding yet.
Thanks Diego!! Yeah it’s actually a really cool place. I’m glad we made the trip down there. That was my first time skiing.
We are heading to Wisp for the first time in a couple of weeks (my wife and daughter are relatively new to the sport) and I was wondering were you stayed?
The problem that you are having with the chair lift is that you are standing up too early. If you wait until the back of your knees are on the chair before standing up you will need less effort. Less effort means less likely to catch an edge. Also, hold both poles in the middle in one hand and keep them in front of you. When you stand up the lift will push on the back of your legs and you will naturally slide down the hill. Trying to use your poles will make it harder.
Congrats on your first trip and welcome to a great sport. I started skiing in Canada in the late 70s and still love it today.

@@mattnrach2016 My pleasure and thanks for the info. When I first started I had a tough time with T bar lifts and that was all my local hill had.
do they have ice skating too?
Good question....not sure if they do or not. I am sure you can look it up on their website.
what time of the year dis u go?
I believe it was towards the end of February
Own a place down deep creek that has a really similar feel to sunset lodges that will be coming up to be rented soon for way cheaper
And also for visitors, mountain state brewery has great food and great drinks
