Since Sunday was a (relatively) slow day at L'ultime Descente we decided to ditch the official speed runs and do some group luge bombs. Riding with other people at 95+ mph is intense.

This was a speed event. The hill was chosen because it has the highest elevation change over a short distance. It was crazy btw. The entire last half of the run was a huge shut down. You do not stop fast from those speeds.

2002 was the first year they were introduced by the Roger's brothers and by about 2005 everyone had made the switch

@@StreetLugeNetwork it used to be luge and classic luge ...or buttboard. At least back around 2002, maybe a little earlier, if I remember correctly. All my buddy and I had the ability to make was wooden boards so we made the classic luge. Good to see they are popular again.

@@alienxyt we still have both street luge and classic luge (as you can see in some of my other videos). The rules for construction are more strict for Classic: wood deck, no bigger than 12" x 48", only 4 wheels with a max diameter of 76mm, no aero-kit.

I wear indoor soccer shoes because they're light, flexible and fairly aerodynamic. Some racers wear skater shoes, boots, or whatever they're comfortable with. We add rubber to the bottom for braking.
