Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a stand-alone reimagining of the original Silent Hill video game. It is set in a different universe from the main canon, including the story, characters, relations, and locations.
The subtitle Shattered Memories refers to shattering and re-imagining the memories of the player's experience from the original game, how Harry Mason, the player character, has "shattered memories" of the events leading up to his car crash, and the aim of Dr. Kaufmann to shatter the protagonist's false memories. Bits and pieces of these memories, mainly involving events in Cheryl Mason's life, are spread all throughout the town of Silent Hill in the form of text and voice messages, which are intercepted by Harry's phone throughout his journey.

My favorite part is the hospital puzzle, where you have to call and request a song on the Alchemilla radio
The way it can change through each play through and not just the endings. How exploration and examination enriches the experience as a whole. Very few games truly accomplish this.

silent hill is my favourite horror game.
When i was around 9 i found a CD copy of the 1999 series from a stack of game discs that was in the basement.(which belonged to my brother)
there was many other games too but SH caught my interest as a child , spooked yet curious about it.
I didn't have a pc so i went to a friend who had a windows xp that time.
We played the whole day , traumatised kids 😆
Often had nightmare and random spooked my whole life after that but still couldn't drop the game off after playing it.
One time my friend's dad had enough of us screaming he decided to uninstall it. 💔
Its been many years now, im already 22
Since i couldn't finish it those days i was searching for gameplays and i found this channel full of SH games

try checking out the movies! they have differences from the games but are still good in their own way and as an adult i think you will enjoy them :) would not recommend for kids though especially already traumatized ones lol 😆

You can still play the 1999 silent hill on the pc, download the game from oldgamesdownload, its legal since its abandonware and theres a video on youtube that tells you what to do to download and install all silent hill games from 1 to 4, follow the steps and youll play with the emulator, thats how i played the game and beat it last week

This story was really well written, but it can hardly be called a Silent hill game, it really tried to ride on Silent hill 1's tailcoat. Just running from enemies, while interesting, serves no greater purpose than to not completely be a walking simulator.
I'd still play it, seems fun, and the story is so sad, it got me tear-eyed.

After watching this now I understand why this wasn't popular. They tried to reboot the narrative with the same names of previous characters but throwing the previous plot all out the window entirely.
There was still so much potential for the old plot with the Flaouros and birthing God trope but the creators just didn't want to cash in on that Gold nugget anymore for some odd reason. I kinda get why Silent Hill was just going down hill...

The dialogue is a bit different to what I got. At the reveal, the psychiatrist said to me, ".....he's not even a ghost! He doesn't exist!... wake up!" Then the dad showed up... "You've always been with me.." The dad's answer is most like, "I'm always with you.."

Not really. The repetitive gameplay, the nonsensical level design, the big reveal that it was all in her head so none of it mattered at all. This was dissapointing to watch. Sure, It introduced some gameplay mechanics subsequent games have lifted, but that doesn't really elevate it all that much.

The entire game is Cheryl imagining her dad going through hell and back to find her, when in reality he is in fact dead; everyone he meets is either a figment of her imagination, or someone she interacted with IRL.
Sometimes, you'll see a character get really close to spilling the beans and the world will freeze over; that's Cheryl preventing the illusion from dying. Anytime the world freezes really, you're getting too close to acknowledging Harry is really dead.
The endings signify this, where Harry either freezes over, meaning Cheryl has let him go, or him staying, which only comes about if you disregard the therapy and shit.

We were too poor to get an Xbox or PS2 or 3 so my Parents got Me and my Sister a Wii, Me and Her hold this game in a special place in our hearts.

This was at 3:19:13, the Love Lost ending. Then there's the mementos clip, followed by the credits. Perhaps the PS2 version played these in a different order.

Though this game came first, it reminded me of the 2016 novel I'm Thinking of Ending Things (more so the book than the movie), especially given that ending.
As with all remakes, a good proportion of the story line is missing. And I am about to watch this play through. I fell asleep last time.
Homecoming the machanics are superb, but the story is disjointed. Despite being mostly inspired by the based on truth horror movie, ‘Jacob’s Ladder.’ And keeping to the crazy cult theme. It sucks! And there is no crazy cult….

I loved the game so much as a new Silent Hill game, not as a reboot of the first one, the original have it's own charm
If it wasn't for the horrible chase sequences in this game it'd be one of the best silent hill games imo.
The theme that plays during the therapy sessions always makes the twist of this game's story feel even more depressing in a good way, to me.
