"Narcotics Anonymous (NA) describes itself as a fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem" following the Twelve Steps and the Twelve Traditions developed by Alcoholics Anonymous, and it is the second-largest 12-step organization.
As of May 2010 there were more than 58,000 NA meetings in 131 countries.
Because no attendance records are kept, it is impossible to estimate what percentages of those who come to Narcotics Anonymous remain active in NA over time. The only sure indicator of the program's success in attracting members is the rapid growth in the number of registered Narcotics Anonymous meetings in recent decades and the rapid spread of Narcotics Anonymous outside North America.
In 1978, there were fewer than 200 registered groups in three countries.
In 1983, more than a dozen countries had 2,966 meetings.
In 1993, 60 countries had over 13,000 groups holding over 19,000 meetings.
In 2002, 108 countries had 20,000 groups holding over 30,000 meetings.
In 2005, 116 countries had over 21,500 groups holding over 33,500 weekly meetings.
In 2007, there were over 25,065 groups holding over 43,900 weekly meetings in 127 countries.
In 2012, there were over 62,700 meetings worldwide in over 142 countries" From Wikipedia

It Feels like yesterday, I walked into the rooms.

Such a powerful message of HOPE. I'm going 2 keep coming bk. I remember having one of those unexplained moments as well, over 5 yrs ago. I was standing outside of the methadone clinic where I was a patient & I kept hearing this music. The music continuously kept getting louder & louder. I kept asking everyone, "Do y'all hear that music?" Everyone's response was, "No, what music?" I kept hearing it! Out of no where this older gentleman stands in front of me & begins 2 sing, "Blessing Assurance." The hook 2 the song is, "This is my story this is my song." @ that present time my prayer was, Lord pleaz don't let me die on the program! After the gentleman finished singing all 4 tiers of the song he said these words, "Every prayer u prayed God is getting ready to bring it 2 pass." After I finished crying & wiping my eyes I turned around & the gentleman was gone. Here I stand 5 yrs later free from all mind/mood altering substances.

I know exactly how your feeling Marshall. because i feel the same way on a weekly basis. but I've got to keep trying. i know I'll make it one day. don't know when that day will be, don't know what it's gonna take to finally have enough. but that's what keeps me from suicide. knowing one day I'll make it and be happy again
@@matthewdean7507 the ONLY requirement for NA is the DESIRE TO STOP USING. You can do it. If you can survive the hell of active addiction you can most definitely handle & have many good blessings in the sometimes roller coaster ride of being a clean & sober addict in NA. Best wishes to you
37 days clean and sober. Its been a long dark road but in the last month ive learned i dont have to live that way and i never want to go back. Just keep moving forward.

I have been trying to come off of pain medication for a long time. Periods of sticking to my prescribed amounts and periods of horrible abuse. Now my kidneys are showing signs of atrophy and now becoming clean from drugs and alcohol means my life. This is a great story and I hope it can inspire myself and others to get back to living again!

I Very much so can understand and relate All too well with you guys stories and others I've heard on here. I TOO have battled narcotics as well as borderline personality disorder and bipolar combined type along with severe depression and PTSD. I want to become a counselor online and maybe even have a blog but I don't have any idea of how to get started. Any advice??

that's one of the best talks I've ever heard. i've been battling for awhile and believe there is hope when listening to others share. addiction is sneaky, baffling, you know.. it's very real and dark at times, i'm doing better than ever and just hope i can treat this disease. with the help of the Lord and others it is possible to stay clean, in my mind. good luck to all!

I WAS AT THIS CONVENTION AND JOSE WAS JUST GREAT. IT TOOK PLACE IN SOUTH FLORIDA.
I was Praying to God, on my hands and knees , asking for Him to just lead me, help me because I relapsed and have been off and on every since. I got news of a heart condition yesterday and I know enough is enough! I ran into your message and when the man said to you " keep your daughter in your mind, you don't want her to think you gave up" on the bus, when you were at the end of your rope .wow I couldn't stop crying. no I won't give up. I am really glad that I listened to this speaker. Many of us have had experiences that are supernatural prior to coming to AA & after working the steps of AA. But we are afraid to share it because most religious people will tell us that it was just demons. Having an open mind brought upon the working of the steps of alcoholics anonymous we now know better. It's so hard. I know personally i just got home from rehab Friday. I hurt so many people in my life. I was 35 days clean was home 2 days and relapsed. I feel so stupid. I thought i had it together, but you know what. I'm not about to let this beat me. I got to stay strong. I can't deal wit this shit. i almost lost everything. lost trust of love ones. My girl left me. I was on the streets staying in trap houses.
This girlfriend of mine stayed in my corner during the whole situation. Even though i have stole from her. All the lies i told her. She still was there. I told myself if someone can love me this much. Why can i love myself like that. So this day I'm gonna do whatever it takes. I got to when this battle. i got too, life's to short. To all in the struggle you can do it. Don't think otherwise. we can do it.
