Permaculture Heat Dome Strategies

In this video we go into the low tech strategies that we used to survive the Eastern Heat Dome of June 2024. We show how we got the garden through with no irrigation and some inside the home strategies.

I took a plant guild class a couple of years ago, and we put wet cardboard over the planting area and covered it with mulch. So far all of the fruit trees and bushes are doing great with minimal rain. My cabin is not insulated and no electricity yet except for battery powered fans. The cabin gets hotter than outside. lol

you need an 'attic fan'. Pulls hot air out the top of the room, leaving more room for cool air to come into the entire room ... all the way to the top! Also, people used to do all their heat-generating activities outside .... outside kitchens are not new.

Yes we need that and I want an outside kitchen so bad! It is on the list!
