Earth Romer knows they have a monopoly in the North American market because neither MAN trucks nor Unimogs are street legal here. It's a real shame because the European overloading scene seems much better than what we've got here in the States...
@@jimbo1637 not exempt but, not the same as a road truck. In other words, they carry an older standard just like importing buses. I think the current rv standard is 2007 to 2011 epa regulations. Any MAN, SCANIA, VOLVO, IVECO, DAF or MERCEDES that is EURO 6 as a "camper/RV" is importable but only MAN & Mercedes do 4x4 & 6x6 chassis builds. I own a towing company and have picked these up in Miami, Savannah and Charleston and taken them to get inspected. They aren't allowed to drive until they pass inspection.
Opinions vary. Personally, I'm not a fan of those other modular vehicles. If I could afford this beautiful beast, I would have it shipped to the South of France and never come back.
Cheap appliances ( bottom tier appliances in a $1M+ RV, come on, guys), 24"x24" shower, omg (try squeezing even a kid into that), worthless washer/dryer combo that everyone knows won't dry clothes (most other RV companies already abandoned them long ago), and the best for last, maybe $500,000+ way overpriced for a significant profit to EarthRoamer. Worth it? Only to them.

Getting them repaired would be difficult. And u can get a pete or kenworth in a tandem or single rear axle 4x4 system. With a strong network of Paccar dealerships. Making it easier for repairs. I guarantee that Chevy Truck cab will be in worse shape with 200k miles on it. Compared to Peterbilt or Kenworth cabs. The Chevy Truck cab is from the previous generation of Chevy Trucks. Which aren't built to the quality of Paccar trucks.

Freightliner & international are 2 of the cheapest commercial trucks on the road. Only thing reliable about international is that they breakdown regularly. Freightliner isn't much better.

in South Africa this works out to R20 Million which buys you a mansion in camps bay one of our most oppulant coastal suburbs. it also gets you x2 overland Man Trucks fully equipped 😕 so who is the target market exactly? those that can afford to buy a bus RV or Truck but want something pocket size in comparison ?

Unimogs are serious off road military vehicles. They are also handicapped when traveling on highways as they were not designed to move faster than 45 mph, which is probably as fast as most military vehicles go on paved roads. So befoeenyou got non the trailhead to go overlanding, you may haven't go for many miles on an interstate highway, and a Unimog going 45 mph at beat will be a pain. This is built on Chevy 6500, powered by. 6.6 liter V8 diesel generating over 920 pounds of torque. It can easily keep up with traffic. Not as good off road as a Unimog, but for the majority of owners, it can do mich more beyond what it will encounter. And most importantly, any repairs or service can be done at a Chevy dealer. Tires are standard truck tires. Transmission is standard for an 6500. No need to hunt for a Unimog dealer or order tires that takes 3 months to come in and cost $1,000 each.
I honestly can't see how or why this is 1.1 M, I've seen other rigs that are longer and bigger, and having spent was less (under $50K) with the same things in them, if not more. I don't see what makes this worth that much?
watched videos of people taking this vehicle off road, and from time to time it does get stuck...and not in extreme road conditions either. imagine playing that much just to be left stranded in some off road area. great concept but actual usability is minimal.
i have a superduty 4 dr ford f-350 4x4 with lockers and big camper--with 100 dollar tire chains also and my winch what i only use to pull other nit wits out can do anything this way over over priced garbage can do--my total investment is 35k and i can take the camper off to haul stuff--but if you have a million to waste go for it

For 1.1 million, you can get a vehicle in Germany that can get through any terrain and still has a palace to offer as a living space.
