  • Simple Painting lesson using Golden OPEN Acrylics
Please SHARE and Enjoy this 1/2 hr Painting lesson about painting colorful 3D clouds. You will see that I attempted to zoom in on the small painting and as you'll see I "lost my head" ha ha (I need some help with my videography!)
Tutorial Video shows how to paint colorful cumulus cloud formations.
Here I copy a larger painting that I created on Irving Ave in Hyannis Port.
    TIPS FOR ACRYLIC PAINTING:
1.) Shade - stay out of the sun and wind somewhat. I use a beach umbrella most of the time using weights or rope to secure it to a couple of stable objects around me.
2.) Use slow-drying acrylics such as "Golden Open Acrylics" or "Slow-Dry Retardant mixed into the paints.
3.) Use a coverable palette and spray bottle to lightly mist paints with water in the mixing tray and palette and keep closed when possible.
4.) Paint quickly and use larger sized brushes (I even suggest using a timer to help remember to work fluidly and not get lost too much in the details)
    I hope this helps!
I have a video about this topic - " My Top Tips for Acrylic Painters"
I love to teach and volunteer in schools around the world.
***If you see me out painting usually I have a blanket with drawing materials and various lessons to copy and learn from. Stop in and draw for a while!
I give thanks for the gift I have been given and for the opportunity to share with you!
I hope you find this useful with your painting evolution! Wishing you the best in life! Jim

Hi Jim! Thank you for the beautiful video! I wish I had watched this like 200 paintings ago! Which colors did you use to mix up the lowest sky color?

Thank you! I look forward to it. My beloved Isabey brushes have great bristles, but the handle always separates from the metal part - even brand new ones! I must find a new brand. I have to hot glue my brushes or else they fall apart in the middle of a painting! @@jimfreeheart
