His work is simply amazing! The attention to detail, the exquisite lines and curves that do not not offset each other, but work in harmony to make one very beautiful mixture of East and West. I am humbled by the work and dedication that I see.
That is one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen. The technique utilizing the gunpowder is fabulous. Each instrument is unique with no effort except to follow the recipe so you don't burn down your guitar or house. As for the headstock and tuners, I can't think of any words that would do them justice.
What an absolutely beautiful guitar. I have never seen a head like this. It is the ultimate in design. Straight strings to the tuners but ohhh how lovely he does it!!!. Also the tuners themselves are so artistic and beautiful. You inspire me! Peter Darling
Am I the only one who watched this video with his mouth open the entire time? That is a piece of art, wish they strummed it at least once so we could hear it.
Wow, that is one beautiful guitar. I did see someone playing it somewhere on TH-cam and I was mightily impressed by that finish on the wood, startled as to how it was produced, I was experimenting with natural stains such as tea. Seeing it close up shows the incredible artistry in the details!
A very beautiful, thoughtful, and original design. BUT, why are you not using a Zero Fret? It makes so much natural sense, makes the guitar sound better and improves playability. It is a beautifully carved nut, but you still could have that type of nut to *hold* the string in place while also using a zero fret.
Hahah...I found a Japanese copy of a Les Paul Standard lying next to a dumpster in Tokyo outside the Yokota Air Base back in June of 1999. It turned out to be a great player once I cleaned it and replaced a little bit of hardware that Gibson parts fitted to. By the yellowing of the binding, I estimate it was made back in the early 70's but there's no way of telling. The brand name was "Passion" but there's no reference online. No name, no blame!
I'm speechless. So many nice details, so much love for merging Japanese and Western traditions into one instrument...and enough of crazy to scorch wood with gunpowder. :D
I did that in the 70's in a bar we were playing with a strat....on the pickguard...it was my version of the Jimi 'lighter fluid thing- I had the band make as much noise at the end of the song as possible-laid the guitar down -feeding back-,dumped a pile of gunpowder on it...and lit it with a kitchen match....it made a mushroom cloud from hell and cleared the club out...took 3 tries to lite it- really cool though, didnt even break a string-or burn the club down-management was happy-all good-
I’m nitpicking here at such a beautiful work of art, but the string winding around the pegs was a little sloppy. I wonder if someone other than him strung it up...
For the most part, the scorching created with the gunpowder is only an aesthetic modification. The scorching is so light that any effect to the tone is really negligible. The scorching is so superficial that we do not recommend sanding the body before applying finish, otherwise you are likely to sand right through the scorches. Instead, we recommend using pumice mixed into the the shellac. This way, any low spots are filled during the French polish finishing process without removing the gunpowder scorches.
That is functional fine art plain and simple. Though I'm not a huge fan of the gun powder look the rest of the guitar is so out of this world it more than makes up for it. I'm not saying the top looks bad at all, just not what I'm into but I'm sure I'm in the minority on that.
Great video and guitar. But what's with the lame ass string wraps on the tuner posts. After all that beautiful meticulous effort, then a crappy string job.... sighs. Still cool though.
Why didn't someone play it ? , you know just a cord or two. oh and of course it looks so **%@# well one look tells you that ! but a few played notes could say so much more.
Just read a comment on how the strings are so sloppilly tied to the tuners!!! Ohh come on Sir, get the real picture and focus on the way the head and tuners have been built. Can you do better??? ...No I don't think so ..so leave the guitar building to people who know what they are doing and then we will send the finished product to you to put strings on it......Bahhhhhh!!!
Using an extraordinary color is a good idea to communicate a brand. But ... as gay man, I suggest not to use shirts in this solid color. Really, don't do this! Take this rose madder as second color which accentuates the first. You are not a gay company, are you? And believe me, I have no problem with gay people.

Thank you!
Thank you, it sounds amazing.
Not the only the gunpowdering stuff is pretty cool. The whole work on that guitar with all the little details on it is just amazing!

Well how beautiful and unique is this!
I love the sound of the smoke detector going off after he lights it!
A very beautiful, thoughtful, and original design.

Thanks for this video, It is informative. I noticed that towards the end, The nut has scallops between the string slots.
That guitar is GORGEOUS. Its a piece of art, really. Ive never had an acoustic speak to me.
Beautiful- I will be scorching things throughout my house.

Smoke alarm works! He definitely burned his left hand, watch when it ignites & he's holding the flame suppress blanket up. Beautiful finish for sure!
Beautiful work
Beautiful. Michi is an absolute master!
beautiful work Michi...very creative...real nice work...!
That neck imho is a work of art. The guitar is incredible
Very nicely executed interview!
Really nice design. I'd love to hear the sound also!
The headstock is BREATHTAKING!
I like the headstock looks super cool
That headstock made me fall in love
I'm speechless. So many nice details, so much love for merging Japanese and Western traditions into one instrument...and enough of crazy to scorch wood with gunpowder. :D
Amazing crafting ! I wonder how it sounds
The scorched top is quite a contrast to the rest of the guitar. It's lovely and yes, would have been nice to hear it.
All one can say is W0W! I wish I played music that could justify me buying one.
Fantastic looking guitar. Wish I could have understood him...
Where can I go to check out more of Michi's guitars?

That guitar is BEAUTIFUL!
honored to know this.
thank You.
the headstock is outstanding!
Wow! that is beautiful!!!! Nice Job.
Beautiful work, definitely art.
Are you using modern gun powder or black powder?
I’m nitpicking here at such a beautiful work of art, but the string winding around the pegs was a little sloppy. I wonder if someone other than him strung it up...
wow. amazing instrument!
never mind the finish - what does it SOUND like??????
Woah! That's amazingly beatiful an unique!
absolutely beautiful! thank you
I wonder how the gunpowder affects the tone of the guitar, if it affects the vibration in the wood and how?
For the most part, the scorching created with the gunpowder is only an aesthetic modification. The scorching is so light that any effect to the tone is really negligible. so beautiful!
Those strings wraps around the tuner post could use a little attention. Maybe it’s just the tuner he used.
It's a work of art. Would love to hear it played. Let Phil X play it! Calling frettedamericana...
anywhere i can hear this guitar being played?
This guy is a genius! He could give Randy Parsons a run for his money for most talented Luthier/Artist that makes functional pieces of Art.
look cool, nice guitar
Any idea on fretboard material?
beautiful
That headstock. Wow.
Magnifique !!
lets hear it!
Amazing
This makes me want to build guitars.
Matsuda is a true genius.
More, more!!
This is art.

Love the sound, don't care at all for the look---Nice to have choices
How it plays and how it sounds are more important then how it looks.
Smoke alarm went off. Giggle. Cool guitar.
I want one
is it me or the guitar doesn't have a truss rod?
Yea but how does it sound? I mean ... is it just me or does someone else also think that the main purpose of a guitar is to produce sound?
muy bonita..
Nice!
wow !
Sweet
1:56 did the smoke detector just went off? :D
I want to say that scorch on an Ibanez M80M
God damn that Thing is pretty
very detailed guitar such a shame that no attention was paid to the way the strings were strung up on the machine heads, sloppy loose wraps.
if you're not inspired by michi and his work, I'm not sure you're a true luthier.
I didn't sand it, I just sanded it with a very fine, paperless 'sand paper'.
11/10
LOL the fire alarm went off
Really, no one played on camera.........really
They're ya go! Now we know the truth about the Shroud of Turin and its origins!
super : )
Very nice, demo would have been even nicer.
fire alarm...lol
But I guess he can't string it properly? And I am pissed no one played it.
LOL, indeed it is.
Yes. O.O SCALLOPED NUTS.
beep beep beep beep beep... 😂
Great video and guitar. But what's with the lame ass string wraps on the tuner posts. After all that beautiful meticulous effort, then a crappy string job.... sighs. Still cool though.
I made that comment too! I see I wasn’t the only one who noticed!
It's a shame nobody bothered to play it.
The only thing that lets the video down is those t-shirts!! Why for the love god, why!!lol!
Why didn't someone play it ? , you know just a cord or two. oh and of course it looks so **%@# well one look tells you that ! but a few played notes could say so much more.

Sorry, I think it looks terrible.
Being from Oregon these guys in their pink shirts remind me of Bhagwan Rajneesh. Not a good memory.💩🔫
