I wasn't really into Sega Saturn emulation before, because I thought there wasn't a reliable standalone emulator around. I'm going to check Kronos out. Thanks.
I'm not sure if this version of Kronos is up-to-date as that download is from 2021. But, if you use the version of Kronos found in RetroArch that version is the most recent and was just updated as of 12/26/23. It also fixes black screens and missing text in some games. Just make sure the RetroArch installation is the most recent version 1.16.0 and if you had the Kronos core installed previously be sure to update it.
Mine just give me a message saying "unable to initalize kronos" when clicking run bios, i need help fixing this. I have bios file in but the emulator crashes after going to settings 👇
Does it have an audio debugger (channel viewer) feature? I had a custom build of ssf with it but lost it after a windows reinstall and can't find it again. Only other one I know of is yabause, which doesn't have anywhere near 100% compatibility. Edit: It was added in a later version!
Okay how can you do the games that have multiple disks? Can you do a video on that I'll like and share that's a problem I need help with it's a 2 disc game and they're both cue.
So I finally did get this to work. The key element he leaves out here is you need the bios files! And you can actually see the bios file in place here briefly. Without that the games wont play. Just google saturn bios and grab the every region file and add it in settings. That being said, seems to be the usa bios plays everrything. I have a few europe roms so figured i`d use the europe bios. And that would not work! Switched it to usa and oddly it worked. So follow everything in this vid plus getting the bios files and you should be good. Hope this helps someone and saves the aggravation and time it took me
@@GraysonVoisinet Well once I started getting into the games, after a few minutes every game would crash. With the fail to initialize bs..You have to add the bios, then hit save, then close out the entire program and reopen it, then try it. I gave up on kronos and went with mednafen. I can get games to run on it,some pretty flawless others not so much, but one of the best saturn emus ive seen. Supposedly if you use it on retrroarch it works better as you get more settings. Havent tried that tho, been using it stand alone. Tbh saturrn emulation i dont think will ever be 100% there. ive just been thinking of getting an actual saturn and then just buying the satiator. The satiator lets you play roms region free off the saturn. But lookin at 300 to 500 for those. Hopefully a mini saturn gets released, that happens, it can get hacked to play all saturn games and put an end too all this madness lol
I can never get this fucking program to work, thought id try again 5 years later, nope. And there is not aa single detailed guide on how to do it,this video is missing stuff
I know, right??? This pisses me off to no end. It's absolutely criminal that there is simply no better way to emulate Saturn other than to use the deprecated Beetle Saturn core through Retroarch to play classic games like Shining Force 3. And the core doesn't even support upscaling....so you are forced to play at 320x224 lmfao

thanks for this great video! Perfect for anyone needing help
Too much audio stuttering. Any fix for this?
thx for this instruction. very useful!!

Would this work on the series x retroarch?
The last useable version of Kronos for me was 2.3.1.
2.6.1 is horribly broken. I spent most of a day trying to set it up and it's useless.

Great. Can you also explain how to run stv games?
Hi Casual Gamer, isn't Mednafen better for Saturn emulation?
Nope! Didn't work!
Great video, but how do i do this with retroarch? Is there a way to launch games throught retroarch?
it won’t let me set up and right on the 3d control pad
Why does my emulator go really fast when I play a game?
my input doesnt work on keyboard

Doesn’t work for mine
No bios needed?
Thx Broooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Man... Sega was ahead of its time
this is great but i cant get it to recognize my xbox one controller i have plugged in.
ok nvm it still says it cant intialize kronos so idk
i get lag.
That's a pretty old version. There's newer versions, but you need to compile it for windows
Vimm's Lair updates their emulators. The latest is there now.
man- strait to the point. :L
This emulator needs vulkan settings. It will run alot better if it did.

didn't work for me, it says cannot initialize kronos. can you run the bios at all? just the bios
