Good REVIEW !.but you left out one key point. You mentioned the roasted neck but forgot the reason why !...yes it does add a beautiful look to the guitar (great perk) but you didn't tell anyone the key reasons for roasting the maple . It removes the remaining moisture from the neck which means weather and temperature change has less of an impact on the wood leading to better tuning and action stability!...no more truss rod adjustments and set ups every time the seasons change !..Major perk for all of us New Englanders!!...
You're right! I have a video called "what is torrefaction" you will like. I don't know how much I agree that it changes the time of the guitar but it will help with stability.
The roasting is primarily intended to rapidly crystallize the resin in the wood. It's an artificial aging process. The color is a nice byproduct of that.
Unbelievable appointments for a guitar of it’s price. I bought a Sterling on a whim last year. Thinking it would be fun to leave out for quick plays without unpacking my studio gear. Uh, I just used it in the studio this week for a country project. And, it sounded fantastic. The producer asked me to bring it back next time.
I really, really really want to buy one of these guitars. The neck feels amazing when I checked it out at guitar center. But then I found a video on here with a guy that bought a Sterling Majesty and his finish was literally flaking off after 3 months. Search youtube for it. They basically told him to kick rocks. I just don't know if I want to get into a relationship I might need to use with a company that apparently treats their customers like that.
Love your videos man. I always look forward to watching them. If I can make one request, it would be when reviewing an electric guitar, PLEASE plug directly into the amp. Any pedal put into the mix completely masks the guitars tone. Just my opinion man. I still love your videos.
This is really good value. I’m an experienced player and thinking of grabbing one of these as an all rounder. I was looking at a PRS SE CE24-08 and that’s almost double the price and doesn’t even have locking tuners….Great review!
@@prodbyamrit I ended up snagging the music man. I went to guitar center to actually see and play them. I liked the silver online best, but when I got there, I liked the pink rose gold a lot as pictured in this video. Better contrast. I left reaalllly liked a Telecaster performer honey burst too, but I ended up ordering the Sterling. Just can’t beat it at $499 with the versatility. It’s stupid…Ive played for years and own pricey guitar, and this thing hangs and holds it own bro. Do it up!
@@JR-tg1vg Man, this seems versatile no doubt. What is your review after usage? How's the fretboard work and how much of a set up did it require right out of the box?? Thank you again.
@@prodbyamrit It’s awesome for the money. Setup wasn’t perfect per say, but action was plenty low enough to where I didn’t have to adjust the truss Rod or anything. I left it. Frets on mine are fine, no need to be filed or rounded on the edge. Only 1 spot that was a little rough on bends and I worked it out through playing a bit rather quickly. Pickups are low output, but sound good, and the humbucker does good if you play heavier stuff. The only gripe I would say is that it feels kinda heavy, but that could just be me since I’m used to playing lighter guitars. Neck feel is awesome with the satin finish and it stays in tune using the bar pretty well too.
I've looked at these things a few times online and watched several videos. I didn't pull the trigger 'cause I really have too many guitars, and I'm a mediocre player. I just got an email from MF featuring open box items, and I bought an open box (condition 1 mint) in the same color as the one in this video for $439.99. I couldn't pass it up. Looking forward to getting it later this week!
Well I,m getting one today. I hope. Your the best. I always like how you tell the truth. The pros and cons. I will let you know if I get one. Thank you.
I'm not a strat(style) guy, but I picked one up a big retailer the other day and was very impressed. It looks like the high E needed work/needed a good set up, but I am very much thinking of getting it in this color.
I have always been a tele guy but I just scooped one of these up same color for $150 has one ding on it. About to slap some new strings on and a pearl white pickguard!
I got one. Not the HSS. But it plays great. I like it better than a Fender Strat. To me it plays like a Tele. I am a big fan and just love ya stuff. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for this review!!!! I can’t wait for these to become available!! Love the neck! Again, great review! Thank you! PS- I wish Sterling would send me stuff to review! 😂😂
You couldn't be more right on about this being the best time for guitar price, quality and features.I am not looking for a new guitar(I have enough honestly)but for $500 I'm getting one because I've always wanted a roasted maple neck and everything else about this guitar says do it.So glad I saw this video but I'm sure my wife is not going to be happy I saw it but oh well.
Hey, good to see this guitar being review, I am not sure if I personally like the tones at the beginning , but it might sound great through my preferred gear 😉keep them coming Jeremy. I liked how you handled the item provided but not brand controlled aspect .
Thanks for the video, Jeremy. I have a question about the Cutlass series. The Cutlass guitars in the $500 range have a few different options at the same price, like the Cutlass, Cutlass CT50, and so. What are the differences between them? The look? Because all have poplar bodies, locking tuners, and the vintage tremolo.
Wow, most likely gonna buy but man can you please turn down the distortion. Hearing this clean is insane! Tbh I probably would never distort this beast
Anyone can help with a review between Fender squier jaguar VM with this one? I hav these two as the final options in cart, but confused to choose which one...
Hi there Jeremy, thanks for the review. I have been looking at these for a bit now . Any chance you could tell me how much it weighs ? (please).. Only bummer is they are well over $1000 in Australia. Not sure why - Ozzy dollar is around 80 cents to US dollar -Anyway that's my problem :-( Regards - Rick :-)
Some other great -$1000 great guitars are: Reverend Guitars, Schecter, Yamaha. I had a Reverend Jetstream 390, but had to sell it to pay medical bills. I miss it tremendously. Locking tuners. Wilkinson Trem.
Hi, thank you for the great content on this guitar - been waiting for reviews to come out for a while now. How did the weight of the guitar feel to you?
Next time you can run the music man straight through with tube amp something like a Vox minimum 15 watt cxi. Get the real sound of the guitar that's something that goes through multiple pedals
I've had a preorder in for the CT50 HSS Dropped Copper for a few weeks, and the charge just showed up on my credit card. So I'm guessing they might be in stock and I'll be getting a shipping notification soon!
When a manufacturer sends a guitar for review, don't you think they're going to cherry pick the one they send? I was all set to buy one of these and then saw a couple of videos that showed some pretty serious flaws. It seems like a really nice guitar if you happen to get a good one.
I often think the same thing, but I have got some real turds from manufacturers. I think this one was great, and I don't think it was particularly sorted. I've been happy with the several that I've seen
@@JeremySheppard Good to know, thanks. I live in a small town where there's no opportunity to try even one. People either seem to absolutely love these guitars or they have issues with them, no in between.
I've heard from quite a few people that the frets can be a bit uneven and rough or with pits. That sounds to me like the quality control isn't the best. So, if the frets can have issues (nothing that a luthier couldn't fix easily) I'd be concerned about anything else where quality control can be a factor. Guess that's the risk of mass produced Asian guitars, unlike a 'real' US Musicman guitar.
The neck and frets on mine are exceptional. Rolled edges and great fret work. Can't speak for all of them but this one is good. I'd probably upgrade pickups.
Nah, not really. I got my Ernie Ball version first. It's a wonderful guitar. But, for the price - not anymore. I have 2 Sterlings now. The builds are exceptional. The pickups are weak, but with a couple used Seymour Duncans from Reverb, and the Sterlings are now HOT!!

Okay first off it’s OUTPUT JACK, the signal comes OUT of the guitar, the roasting is not just about the “color of the maple” it’s for stability as well, and Dude, hunt some looser fitting pants!
Music Man products are killer. Gorgeous. Excellent review! Sterling sounds really good!
I remember subscribing to this channel when there was only 4K subscribers. Glad to see the channel thriving

Thanks! I think so too.
I have a fiesta red one on the way, the seller has also replaced the saddles with brass ones, I can't wait for delivery. This is a sweet guitar.
Sterling Cutlass' are great. It's almost as if a Fender Strat and Mustang had a baby, haha.
Great modding platform - like the MIM Fenders were before their prices went up.
No need to modify a Player Series really. Happy with mine and I own expensive guitars.
@@kenthhamner2641 I agree but the Player series is $400 more than the Standard series was. At least where I live

I have the vintage cream. A little fret polishing needed but overall one of the best guitars I've ever had. It's wonderful.

The Gibson headstock comment is way off the charts, brother.
The song at 1:55 🔥🔥🔥
The Sterling Cutlass I own is wonderful. It has a mojo about it and it didn't cost me nearly what other guitars would have.
