Had a run in with the tier 6 italian cruiser in my benson. Fucker ate 4 torpedoes and kept going. Thank God the ap at close range is nice on it. Just amused that it ate 4 torpedoes and kept coming lol
Using Membelli, R11/L1. Ingenious perk!!! HAVE to know when the attention is on you so you can break contact early. "Will explode on contact" from BBs and CAs. Did have a 104k damage/2551 base XP game. Not a ship for beginners
Cheers for the review The short fuse works very well on superstructure - I got 9K on one salvo against an Nagato, but then damage droops off as the area becomes saturated - maybe I need to use normal AP for a bit to get a comparison but we need a test zone like PC where you can set up stationary ships to train on. The walking speed torpedos are hysterical - Fire and forget across a cap zone. a couple of minutes later someone blunders into them. You can drop them from stealth so there is no penalty to sending them out there. I have enjoyed the Italian cruisers much more than the Russian. Fiji is still king cruiser though.
Pulled the Zara out of a crate last night and only played a few games in it. Tried the fuse shortening perk for something different, and couldn't citadel a broadside Algerie. I switched back to the normal punch through perk after that and absolutely wrecked a Kutuzov with the AP.
Kinda in same boat as you... got the t3 and t4 and running Mimbelli. Big advantage is speed (got Montecuccoli up to almlst 40 kts with just Mimbellis perks, no extra speed inspirations) but the gun performance is a tad lacking. Helps to have the help on reload though...
I took Luigi to 16 L2 and Rngesus was kind to me and got t3-6. I find the 3 and 4 to be meh. But Once you get Luigi high enough the ap on the Trento and Zara is amazing.
I have really struggle to get damage with mimbelli. I do like The movement he gives me. I enjoy the ship but I find it hard to get much out of the guns. It's a fun ship I don't want to give up on it. There's any recommendations for Commander inspirations or setups, I would definitely be open to try something new.
I use that perk for the current saturation of light cruisers. It doesn't over pen which give you the opportunity to ambush. We used this ship on pc to sit behind islands. You can kite with it but i wouldn't do it lol
Not a fan of this ship. If you like it then you'll love the Zara. So far at least on this ship I have really not liked that special fuse shortener perk either. Personally not sure why anyone would want this ship when there are so many others that do what it can do but better and not as difficult to do well in. This ship not only takes citadels really easily it also gets slaughtered by HE. Absolutely chunked by HE
I personally like this ship, u play at range and use ur speed and maneuverability to ur advantage, they can barely hit u if u play like that, also first here
The camo looks great...otherwise...hmm... No luck with the crates yet, either...I've used the Lira on nothing but crates, and, while I've gotten 25 Promotion Orders out of them (yes), not a single ship. Guess I'll have to wait.
Zara and trento are good ship but hard to play, verysquishy but the long range torps are very sneaky...tried the shorter range faster torps on zara but prefer the longer range ones, went for double turret traverse insperation on the plumber comander as turret traverse is pretty poor otherwise, only just unlocked mombelli so have not up graded yet to test on the lower tier ships as i have all 6 cruisers.....cheers
I found the exact same issues using the perk you described. I switched back to the standard AP pen perk and it is a huge difference! Perhaps when I level up the Commander high enough, I can add Yamamoto as an inspiration and flip the perk back to the short fuse perk? Maybe that's how these should be paired?
Hmmm, people complain these don't have smoke, and the 152mm AP is sort of weak? And yet all the British CAs have smoke, decent 152mm AP, decent stealth, and waaaaaaay better torpedoes!!! Even if you manage to hit with the (slow as molasses) Italian torps, they do perhaps the lowest damage of all? Sure, the Italians are the new kid on the "chart", but why have people forgotten the better British ships? And soon, the HMS London will be coming out as a premium. And,............. someday the British machine gun, the MINOTAUR!!!!
Would like to see them expand more on the British battleships too like introducing the Orion Class BB’s more notably the the dreadnought HMS Conqueror.
With concealment mod concealment is 9.2km. I used Jerzy and got it down to 8.8km. When my Italian commander is lvl 11 I’ll put Mikawa in for even better concealment.
Absolutely no luck with campaign crates for me this round. I'm not in a huge rush since I'd rather play/learn the line when they have their unique smoke available, if not SAP shells as well. Seems like they will be very strong kiting cruisers, especially when they receive their exhaust smoke and if we ever see SAP.
I found luigi's sap-ish perk works best on the 203mm gunned ships. For me anyways. I wasn't impressed with it on the 152mm gunned ships so I use the other cruiser commander for them.
WG dropped the ball quite badly on these ships, there's nothing (or at the most, very little) gameplay-wise that compels you to choose the Italian cruisers over the Japanese or UK equivalents. Being a bit stealthier or faster just isn't enough, they need their unique gimmicks otherwise what's the point?
JayTheCat I find I do a hell a lot more in AP damage as well as getting more citadels with the Italians over the Japanese and British. So for me there is a point. I understand things are different for everyone,
I’ve ground the tier III Italian cruiser up to tier IV but it won’t let me buy it, are they going to let us get them down the track if not what’s the point playing them ?
Does anyone think WG should add the yamato gun sound to the grofer kurfurst 420 mm guns to give it more uniqueness to the smaller ones. This is the way it is on the PC I think it should be brought to console too
The pronunciation of Abruzzi and Luigi is perfect but you have to practice with Sansonetti (since you're avoiding to say it i guess it's a little bit harder to spell for you but at least you don't torture most simple names) . Keep up the good work
@@theycallme4799 it's not the same...all it seems to do is remove most the likely hood of citidals, but doesn't improve ricochet angles like proper SAP does on PC.

I agree meh. It wants to kite, its got the speed however your go splat at any angle by any BB. Also turret traverse is abysmal oh and no smoke throw me a bone here. The sonar is a sick joke, I dare ya to get in close enough to use it. As much as it wants to get up and run, your only decent option is to mooch smoke or island camp, and then be rewarded by a very low scoring game. I'm on about 20 games with it and its not growing on me at all. Gunfighting other cruisers, the feel is just like taking a fubuki and getting into a gunfight with any other DD. Weak. Unless they are broadside, then it will do what any cruiser will. Now the Zara on the otherhand. I absolutely hated it at first but im about 30 games into it and I'm really liking it a lot more, compared to this ship it feels like it should be the premium and this should be tier 5. I'm running Luigi on both of them, I think he's lvl 12.
I'd say: in other words, it's not for duffers. It's decent enough, but there's nothing here really out of the ordinary for high tier cruisers. You have decent armor--for a cruiser--but you're T6, so no "enhanced" hull plating to deflect large caliber guns. You have 6" guns, which are problematic at this tier without something to spice them up. If you think of it as a T6 Marblehead with an Italian accent, then you're in the ballpark of what to expect. I'm a bit surprised they led with this ship instead of Duca d'Aosta, which would potentially be stronger in her own tier relative to other cruisers.
I got the tier 5 Trento in a crate. It's reasonably tanky, but the AP shells seem to be made of soft cheese.
Yeah I got the Trento too I’m enjoying allot off good results with her.
Those were some Matrix style moves against that Hood. I bet he was so pissed lol.
Ship only has 10 guns not 12 I think, setup up like the Pensacola 2x2 and 2x3.
The two red team destroyers that chose to brawl you in a light cruiser 😆😆
