    Only saw Rory live once - at the Cream 1969 farewell concert at the Albert Hall where Taste were one of the supporting acts - but it was clear then that he was a major talent as he went on to prove over the years. So many years have past and so many guitar heroes have fallen. Thank goodness for Dave Simpson - best reason around now to watch out for your ears :).

      I’m envious. I saw him about 11 times I think but all from 1973 onwards after he’d recently switched to the Fender Bassman (then later Marshall). I still have the 1963 AC30 I bought in 1976 because of his sound. Dave certainly knows how to use an AC30, not everyone gets ion with them

    • @johnnorth9355
      @johnnorth9355 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Claymor621 Amazing - I bought an AC 30 s/h the same year but only kept it for a couple of years as I got fed up kicking it to try and get it to behave - should have changed the valves ? :) . As for Rory he was one of those acts I just kept missing when playing nearby due to other things on. Pretty stupid in hindsight but you can't undo mistakes like that.

      Well that must have been something! I saw him live in Belfast 4 times in the 70's. Almost nobody else would come. Rory generated so much excitement live!

    Rory, the guitar God. I Saw him playing three months before he passed away. After the show I shook his hand. I Will never forget this. And Dave, again an inspiring video. Again you play with a lot of emotion. Keep up the good work. Greets from the Netherlands.

    What I love about Dave is his ‘down to earth ness’ all the gear he uses is really affordable. HE IS ONE OF US. No bullshit with a vox from the 70s worth a grand. You can pick the amp he is using here off reverb for £100-£200

    If you must know the truth , the solid state amp fell over in my Carlsboro Scorpion long , long ago , I drive it as a speaker box now. Having the 2 20Watt 12' speakers isn't really enough for crowded rooms but is ace in a living room or something , who do you say are your next door neighbours ? ( you only Goddang vote labour to be my next door neighbour) .
    You were extremely lucky with your VOX to find a thermally stable silicon design from the 80's , good luck with it the Dave and thats 336 likes including me although I was hoping you were going to get the glass slide out and do some Rory slide but I am not one of those philistines. Mebbe if you wanted to improve it you could add some hand wired pots ? What about a Tele for a nice spanky sound ? (344 likes now) I would do 2 likes if I knew how. You can really feel the feedback on those humbuckers.
    my word.
    Has it got an internal speaker input , would it be just a bit (too ?) crazy to think about playing it through the Orange amp say ?

    HELP!? Does anyone have experience and/or knowledge of the Line 6 Spider Jam vs Bias Grid Spark? Dave, I guess this would kind of be your area most of all - practice amp, SS, 75W fookin’ loud, modelling, effects built in, lowish wattage, backing tracks and gizmos built in to help practice, looper built in, etc., low cost (relatively speaking), deep editing, etc.? I had been eyeing up getting a Spark, but got a L6SJ thrown in when I bought yet another Revstar second hand. I know the cost of a used L6SJ equates roughly to buying a new Boss pedal, but the Spark won’t necessarily break the bank either. Can’t justify buying Spark if SJ does mostly same as I already have Roland minicube, Orange CR120 and Fender BB15 Combo for electric, Tanglewood T6 for acoustic and more pedals than is healthy for anyone.

    • @1969RestlessNative
      @1969RestlessNative 4 ปีที่แล้ว
