For family suppers, , there's nothing I like better than dumping a meaty meal into a crockpot, turning it on slow to medium and heading out to wherever my feet want to go for most of the day, knowing that when return the smell of whatever I'm cooking will be there to greet me. Often, I invite the neighbors to come over and enjoy whatever I've prepared - along the whole family - served piping hot on paper plates, some of which the family dog is allowed to lick when everybody's done tucking in to whatever delicious supper I've prepared. Food!! Food!! Glorious Food!! . What a life we live when there's plenty sustenance available to us in so many varieties!! Thank you Jason & Julie for allowing me to share. 😁
Hi respects to the parents of 11. During the 50-60s our homestead family was 10 wide around our ping pong table, lol. A lifetime of unlimited fun and happiness. We picked out of the garden and mom cooked it up, crazy times!
Your dinners look delicious, and awesome that the kids help out so much! Learning how to cook is definitely important. I am amazed that your boys are so into it. :) Props to them.
To your kids: Hats off to the kids for their chef, so tasty, supper additions!👍👍Oh Julie, when you post, if able, could you please have Bella do a mommy-puppy update???
Thanks for sharing your meal ideas. Have you made German Pancake? It's what my family likes when we have lots of eggs to use. You melt 4 Tablespoons of butter in a 9x13 pan at 450 derees. While that is melting whisk a dozen eggs with 1 teaspoon salt and 2 cups milk. Then whisk in 2 cups flour but don't overmix the flour. Pour batter into pan with melted butter in it. Bake at 450 for 18-20 minutes. The pancake puffs up from the eggs. Serve with pancake toppings of your choice. I like the recipe as it doesn't require a lot of ingredients.
These all look delicious! It’s so fun to see your kids help with the cooking. We love butternut squash soup as well. We dice up an apple to sauté with the onion, and don’t add any other sweetener. So good!
I take dried pinto beans and cook with onions 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper. After they have cooked to about done I add cooked white rice, taco mix. I do not grind the beans but serve them whole. We serve with home made corn tortillas or white flour tortillas.
Good job to all your helpers! I like that classic sloppy joe recipe the most. I am hoping to grow butternut squash this summer, but I don't know if i can wait that long to try that soup... they are expensive right now at the grocery store.
@@jasonandjulie I need to figure out long-term storage that will work for us. Last year I just threw a few pumpkin seeds in as an experimetn and they did so well. We had a HUGE 3-foot giant! So I want to expand the squash and try out potatoes too. I just don't know how they will do being stored... I need to do some research.
Awesome! Way to go using what you have and it’s so wonderful with the kids helping!! 💛 Lots of deliciousness there. We just recently got spelt berries from azure and love the nutty flavor it adds to the sourdough. And I felt the same way when my older ones learned how to prepare and bake the bread - what is my job now?? Gotta find something else to do (not like that’s hard haha).😅😉😄
Yum!! Delicious meals! Could you do a video on how you make your kombucha? I’ve wanted to dabble in the kombucha world, but would love to learn more about it first. 🙂
I did make a kombucha tutorial. You can watch it here: th-cam.com/video/g0EwkH7jCm4/w-d-xo.html These days though we actually drink it after the first ferment (and don’t bother doing the fruit). Kids all like it and it’s less work for me! 😁
How many chickens do you have to get 2 dozen eggs a day? I’d be really interested in a video about what chickens you have, breeds etc. & their housing & care 🐓

It sounds like a wonderful evening! 💕 Family meals are one of our favorite things. Making memories together at the table
@@jasonandjulie Yep. And feeding the family dog with table scraps is so much more affordable and convenient than buying dog food online. 😁

Great job kiddos helping mom in the kitchen. 😃
I always put a couple of potatoes in my butternut squash soup and then I blend it all together with some whipping cream. So delicious.

We’ve been on a big butternut kick. The apple is a good idea!
Totally understand why you missed filming the steak and brussel sprouts meal...too excited to start eating it. Lol

Thanks for sharing your meals, coming up with the idea of WHAT to make is one of my biggest homemaking struggles.
So true!
Oooh can’t wait till winter here in Australia to have pumpkin soup again yumm (we call butternut squash butternut pumpkin)
It’s so delicious!
Benjamin is so sweet!! He reminds me of my boy so much since he is only 2 months older and they are both bald 🤣😍
My poor kids don’t get hair for years 😂
@@jasonandjulie haha same here. It starts to sprout after they are one and then kicks in sometime after that 😅

We are so hooked on butternut soup right now! We’re working through our final box of squash left in our storage. They held up really well!

I like my sloppy joe mixture to be like a sweet bbq sauce too!
