That's a great idea to use the suet. Keeps the food (and thus the birds) more or less in one place vs seeds all over the place. Amazing bird photos, of course!

Thank yep that suet just keeps them anchored in 1 spot my man. Thanks again for watching.

Thanks for sharing! I am looking for ideas for something similar where I can shoot from my big picture window in my baseball that is ground level. I already attract tons of birds with my other feeders, so it shouldn't be too difficult to set something up near the window. I have a new Nikon Coolpix P1000 and my Canon 6D that I want use. I too like trying to get more natural photos if possible so I like the idea of a perching spot above the food. I have a platform feeder that I have some "perches" on and noticed many birds will land on the perches first. I also like the idea of a log with suet plugs and might have to try that!

You have inspired me more than you know. I just recently bought a P1000 just to zoom around on airplanes, the moon etc, but finding out I like to take pics and 4K videos of birds surprised me big time. Who would have ever thought?!
I am having a wonderful time so far. I know the P1000 won’t be the sharpest or very good in low light and has a small sensor, but I’m hoping it will be at least good enough for me to move forward in this new endeavor. My wife has a Leica SL2 and has been into photography for many years. Her current niche is documenting artwork for museums and has taken shots for high quality books documenting artists work. She has forgotten more than I could know. Again, your channel has made a big difference in exciting me to pursue our fine feathered friends.

Joe, glad to hear. Yes do not be too put off about the small sensor because there are so many advantages to the p1000 that makes up for this. You can get some excellent photos and video if you give it time. I think most people just go for the BIGGER sensor because everybody else does. I have one of the biggest sensors for photography and yes it looks nice but I really do not feel that much under gunned using the p1000 in its place. Thanks again.

I really love my P1000. Some of my favorite pics taken wouldn't have been possible without it... or a small fortune wrapped up in better kit.

I love the video, long time fan but... did you nab the music from the depressing section of the album store?!
