  • A great Beginner's Project. Learn how to sew this cute pull-over knit top with step-by-step, very detailed instructions. Get tips on how to sew a narrow hem, create casings for ties, sew your own ties from fabric used to make the top, and learn a quick and easy way to turn narrow ties right side out. As a bonus to you, I'm sharing how to make a pattern alteration on the neckline for more coverage since there were concerns about the opening being too wide and bra straps showing.
    If the pattern isn't available in your size, check out the link below to learn how to grade your pattern to any size.

    Okay, I am man. I am thinking about learning to sew shirts for myself. So on the surface, your videos might not seem to be a fit - but I love all of them! Your energy is so upbeat and positive. You should always feel comfortable to share whatever parts of your life you want to with us.
    Anyway, thank you for all the work and time you put in to your channel.

      Hey Andrew! Thank you so much for being here. I've been getting questions from some of the other guys who sew and they want some sew alongs for men. I did tell my sons I needed them to be my models so I can make some men's garments. They said, "Okay"! Yaaay!

    Hi Anita! Thank you so much for this video! I used this video to create view C ...then did the neckline adjustments on the pattern and used the video to create View A. Thank you so much! I ordered the Quick turn tubes between projects and was glad I did! It really made it easier than my initial turn with a safety pin I did w view C. Also your clear explanation on how to actually use the quick turn tubes! Thx for that! I'm in love with my tops!

    Hi Anita, I just happened upon you, who know how, but your personality is so vibrant and positive and I so enjoyed your videos! I want to tell you when you did the one on the serger (overlock), it inspired me to get mine going. I bought a Brother 1034DX over a year ago. I had a lot of trouble following the disc that came with it on threading. It just wasn't sewing well at all. I kinda shoved it back until now; I told myself THIS Winter I am going to get that going. Then I saw your great tips on using it, even though they're different brands, so some of you hints inspired me. Yesterday was D Day so to speak. It is beautiful! I got it threaed correctly following a You Tube on my exact machine, then I gave it a test run. SUCCESS! and so quiet it practically purred. Thanks for the encouragement..I love your videos and your upbeat about LIFE.

    Hi. I am a new sewer and I found a pattern I love love love. McCalls M7352 C. But with sleeves that go an inch above the elbow. And the V neckline I’d like to be more modest and not as much cleavage exposure. Will you please do a video with my requested pattern? It’s on Amazon, I will buy it for you if that’s what you want me to do because I really really love that pattern and need you to be in the driver seat so I don’t mess up. I follow visual instructions better than paper instructions.

    • @AnitabyDesign
      @AnitabyDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Anne. I know it looks like a straight stitch, but it's actually a very narrow zig zag stitch. I definitely wouldn't stretch like that with a straight stitch unless I stretched the fabric while sewing.

    I just bought a Vibrant today, and I’m a bit confused about your seams when you serge them. Do you set your seam guide to 5/8” and then serge and let it cut off what it doesn’t serge or is your serge stitch width set at 5/8”? It seems like when you serge you don’t really have the 5/8” in the garment. Am I missing something??

    • @AnitabyDesign
      @AnitabyDesign  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Laura. I use the seam guide to measure the distance from the left needle. So, from the right edge of my seam guide (which is where the raw edge of fabric sits) there is 5/8" from the left needle. I hope that helps.
