Fellow owner of a polar silver 1995 993 and I'm getting ready to replace those gaskets in the next week or so. Helpful video to clearly show what I'm in for.
I gave up trying to remove the little wire attached to the lock. I was worried I would break it. I found a connector for the white wire in the door, opened it and then fed the gasket up the wire, through the hole in the door and onto the door handle. I then reconnected the wire and buttoned it all up.
@@levifisk6401 Thanks! It's Grand Prix White with red leather. Here's a video I made when I bought it last Fall: th-cam.com/video/kzUMmkPsD8g/w-d-xo.html
very cool !! .... have you changed the rear window seals or have some hints? the passenger side corner of mine is kinda coming off on the corner I can glue it but the right fix is changing it. Gathering info to do it and put a video I've see some videos on 964's
I have not had to do this repair yet so unfortunately I have no insights or help to offer. If you do it yourself, put it out here for us all to learn from!
Hi - I'm wondering if the stiffness of opening and closing the door worked out a bit smoother? My drivers door is quite stiff unless I open and close the door 'quickly' as it passes over the detents. I'm wondering if I should remove the strap and trim down the rubber.
Have you added lubricant to the stops? I added some grease and that has loosened it up tremendously to a point it holds the door when needed but reduced the stillness for sure. BTW, did you use my video to aid in swapping your door stops out? Would love to hear if this video helped.
@@levifisk6401 Hi. No, I haven't done anything yet but I will try some grease. Is there any brand/type of grease that you'd recommend? If that doesn't work I will definitely be referring to your video for replacing the door stop. Thanks Levi!
@@unklefunkmaster I just picked up a very small jar of general lubricant on Amazon. I’m sure there are better recommendations than this, but that’s what I did and the doors are perfect
Hello Levi , nice job ! 👌 , I saw you have the 996 turbo twist alloys on the car. Can you tell me the rear size of the alloys ? Is it 10j x 18 ET 47 ? They look super on your 993 👌thanks in advance , grtz , Bert , belgium
Here are both measurements: Front: 8Jx18 ET52 with a 235/40 MCH Pilot Sport 4S tire; Rear: 10Jx18 ET40 with a 285/35 MCH Pilot Sport 4S tire. Bolt pattern 5x130.
Well it is an early 95 due to the basket handle. Exterior mods appear to be the front bumper, red painted calipers, rear engine grill which is also painted and painted bumperettes. Anything else? I forgot the turbo-twist rims.
I do drive it. What's wrong with maintaining a car? It isn't like I just sit around and stare at it all day. But when something needs fixing or improving, struggling to understand why not maintain it, to prolong it, is a negative.
@@levifisk6401 Exactly. I maintain my vehicles to the extreme. Comes from my flying days. As for a Ferrari, ever notice when you go to Autotrader, none of them have any mileage on them simply because they are always in the shop.
@@levifisk6401 I just meant that it is a German sports car meant to drive, not an Italian trophy car that needs to be pampered. I have an Audi and I drive it as much as I can. I wish I had your car. Sorry if I came across negative
Porsche Dealer workshop should cover those basic aesthetic repairs specially cracked rubbers ! Good work man!

It is a very doable project and can be enjoyable. And you won't look at your handles again without thinking of your handy work. Good luck.
Excellent video Levi! Just found this. This is a great contribution to us Porsche guys.
Driven one of these a while back, absolute joy!
I love this car!

Great job! @11:11 your screw driver came really close to the paint, glad it didn't touch!
Trust me, I know after watching and editing the video. I like to keep everyone on the edge of their seat...but I need to be more careful.
You noticed that as well.
Thanks for sharing, I'm about to do the door stop on my 88 928 S4 and it's a very similar design to this.
Hope the recording we did helps your project and saves you a bit of $. Sweet car, what color?

Thank you. This will help me. 🙂👍
Beautiful car.
Very Nice 993. Good video.
Excellent, thanks for sharing! I have the same issues to fix on my 993.
Let me know how it goes. It is worth the little bit of effort. Where are you located? I'm in Houston

FYI, youtube says your door panel removal video link is broken.
Thanks, going to take a look right now!
11:10 You scratched the paint with the long screw. #SMH And that Philips screwdriver flailing about? #SMH
Porsch?
Yeah, I slipped. Honestly I don't like saying PorSHA as I didn't grow up saying that, but I'll try to do better in the future!
Door handle gaskets, come on man it’s a Porsche, drive the hell out of it and enjoy. It’s not a Ferrari

I’m obviously not as well off as you are. This is and will be my Ferrari. Enjoy your Ferrari.
