I feel like he’s a character that could easily be turned into a pathetic joke (and had he been made back in 2016, he most definitely would have been), and while I assume some would be totally ok with that, I kinda wanna see him actually be a serious threat.

@@WhitneyAllisonGG That has nothing to do with my comment. The nuclear family thing seems irrelevant, unless you have an issue with homosexual relationships. I don't care about a person's sexuality. I care about the character of the people. If the parents are good, reasonable people (regardless of politics) and, thus good parents, that's all that matters.
@@blackmanwithcomputer It's not that. The problem is that men created Gender roles for women without their consent. Only now that women don't like these roles they get upset because it comes into conflict of what the traditional family is. So a woman says she is unhappy with her role in society she automatically gets a label. That woman hates the man and lesbian because she happens to disagree with her role and as expected to harassed or assaulted because it's her role to do so. It is about Amazons way of life spreading to other women in United States even if that makes that society more Egalitarian. Some men don't want to be equal to a woman.
yes but it was only ONE amazon who murdered 19 men. why would they attack an entire race for one person’s action? also the amazons do have an ambassador which they do mention in the comic. but congress chose to basically ignore her
@@xviioscarr6349 Hmm, okay I'll read the comic. I just based my opinion based off this video. However, does the comics mention if Themyscira is okay with the US government convicting Amazons? Cuz, if not, I could definitely see this being a potential act of war. Of course, what's going on in the comic is exaggerated AF, but under "normal" circumstances...
America should know better. If they cant take Superman they aren't taking Wonder Woman or any of the Amazons. In fact they have both been to war with each other so many times
Murica has never been at a severe disadvantage so it's kinda silly to think they'd behave the same way as real life. Also they are clearly being controlled by a third Party. Any smart Government agency would be clamouring to get a hold of those sweet Amazonian genetics dispersed into the population and the minute a male is born have him raised to be breeding stock for an American Gargarian Army of super soldiers. That's after all the logical conclusion of Amazon's intermarrying and living in human societies since Amazon genetics are dominant eventual the human race will evolve into Male and female Amazons and considering they posses pretty privilege and immortality natural selection will go to town. Sorry my sci first brain is going a mile a minute at the world building implications.
6:09 Oh no, no, no thats actually an interesting point I never knew and ironic since the right wing are often the type worrying about it. Like that's an amazing conversation in and of itself.
People don't talk about it because it would ruin their "narrative". Just because someone comes from a brown country doesn't mean they're liberal or even progressive. And Conservatives know this, but its easier to say immigration bad and move on.
That's cause he conflated social conservative with political conservative. Black folk tend to be very socially conservative but vote progressively same for many immigrants from non communist countries. I'm no Republican but even I know republicans love immigration from former communist countries like Cuba cause those types do tend to assimilate a little to well and vote Republican the others like Mexicans tend to vote left and they don't like that. So he's right and wrong cause he warped the specific context.
Didn't Marvel just do this in the Captain America books? Didn't they call it the Century Game? In the X-Men books, they call it Orchis. This is a strong opening, but I will say what I always say about Tom King...his writing is best when it is out of continuity. The subtext is great and all, but it already feels like the social commentary is way more important than the actual story. But the controversy it generates and Tom King's profile will bring more readers to Wonder Woman and I am all for that
Interesting premise though this almost feels like an Else world's Thing i mean wheres her friends at The JLA in all this Seems more than a little strange that not one of them has come to her defense or for that matter the defense of the innocent Amazon's being persecuted is there no Justice in the league ? ....heh ...well its only issue one of this so maybe 2 will shed some light on this great Review btw ✅👌⭐⭐⭐
Are they gonna say that the lasso of lies can alter reality to make any lie come true cuz if so that could explain where wonder womens new daughter comes from they lied her into existence so they’d have a weapon to fight Wonder Woman her own daughter
@@theunknowncommenter725this. Remember Tony Stark, one of the MCU darlings, Billionaire playboy mega genius, and one of the smartest people on the planet. He’s playing simpering second banana to Patsy Walker, Hell Cat, who did nothing but berate him and then he offered to marry her. Then Carol who killed him in the last civil war and never mentions it or even apologized for murdering him. Even though he invents stuff for her she still just makes fun of him.
This was such a stupid book. The Amazons are a poor representations of oppressed minorities. Ultra fit, beautiful women, who are super strong and immortal are the oppressed? Not to mentioned why are they in America or seek their citizenship when they live on an island paradise? That's supposedly objectively better than man’s world? Also Amazons are trained to block bullets like Diana, if I'm not mistaken. How are these gun men taking them out so easily? This book is so blunt, it has no subtlety or nuance whatsoever in addressing the concerns of their political opponents that it reads like propaganda.
Which shows feminist mental illness . Even with god powers and a paradise land, they would still speak about opression 😂. Giving Eve in Eden garden vibes 😜
It's contrived nonsense anyway the Amazon's have been a redundant race since forever. Like how is this supposed to be an example of a successful Matriarchal society if in order to have one there needs to be no men rather then have men in a kingdom ruled by women? Also why do these women needed to be handed a paradise homeland and given immortality knowledge magic and powers? They are basically the god's nepotism babies calling out patriarchy for not pulling itself up by the bootstraps. Meanwhile Themescira doesn't have to worry about conquest of land or border crisis because there were bad crops that year and no famine, plagues, war or social issues since all the women magically get along and since they have immortal queens no dirty succession issues or bad leaders being voted in. In other words Amazon's get an exception to practically every civilizational issue while pretending to be a model nation for the world to aspire to. along with being isolationist for most of their history. I prefer the more traditional type of Amazon's where they were women who were just as strong as men which evened the physical playing field and changes gender dynamics in an interesting way no extra hand outs from the gods and they still have to actually create a successful society protect themselves build social policy and trade with other societies and since they are only just as strong as men they have to innovate and contribute to technological And philisophical advancement in order to protect themselves. In my head Canon Zeus Made them after Hera nagged him to appease her female power fantasy so he made Amazon's his pet project with all the contrived advantages to make sure they don't immediately fail as a society.
If it's one thing DC and MARVEL are going to do it's piggyback off of each other. Marvel just did this whole shadow organization that was shaping America lol.
I mean... you're not wrong. I was even talking about some of the older Latin crowd too. I know an uncomfortable amount of Trump supporting Latinos and Latinas.
The reason Latinos are Conservative in thought and practice is based primarily on faith practice & the fact that most Latin American countries were dictatorships or run by conservative governments for decades. To be fair, the family construct in Latin America lends itself to being conservative and honestly there is nothing wrong with that. Enter the Money/Business dynamic which further lends itself to more right wing/conservative ways. @@BlerdWithoutFear

Well there was that time the amazons invaded amarica.
I love it.
It was a solid read. I'm hoping Tom gets the time he needs to fully flesh this out. I wanna see how far he takes Diana on this.
Promo material said he ould WW's joker, so curious to see how that plays out.
America should know better. If they cant take Superman they aren't taking Wonder Woman or any of the Amazons. In fact they have both been to war with each other so many times
You'd think. But you know us... "Murica"
I wish Marvel had done this when they had the Asgardians live in America.
The sovereign looks like the pope lol
Didn't Marvel just do this in the Captain America books? Didn't they call it the Century Game? In the X-Men books, they call it Orchis.
This is a strong opening, but I will say what I always say about Tom King...his writing is best when it is out of continuity. The subtext is great and all, but it already feels like the social commentary is way more important than the actual story. But the controversy it generates and Tom King's profile will bring more readers to Wonder Woman and I am all for that
See what happens when you don’t keep your hands to yourself😮
You kill people? Including the men that had nothing to do with it🤨🤨🤨
Interesting premise though this almost feels like an Else world's Thing i mean wheres her friends at The JLA in all this Seems more than a little strange that not one of them has come to her defense or for that matter the defense of the innocent Amazon's being persecuted is there no Justice in the league ? ....heh ...well its only issue one of this so maybe 2 will shed some light on this great Review btw ✅👌⭐⭐⭐
Well its only issue #1....
Anyone besides me seeing some parallels with AXE and Orchis?
You don't think Tom King would kill a kid
I'm feeling this one so far 🤔
Wages war on men 😅 WTF..... aight
I mean... I don't blame her 🤣
I like what i am seeing. Will have to give them a chance
That is a a far more reasonable response than most have had
Are they gonna say that the lasso of lies can alter reality to make any lie come true cuz if so that could explain where wonder womens new daughter comes from they lied her into existence so they’d have a weapon to fight Wonder Woman her own daughter
I find the fact that theirs no woman fighting against the amazons a bit too ham fisted. Also i think the Sovern thing is dumb.
I'm so happy you covered this book. Couldn't wait to hear your opinion.
Thank you! Glad to provide! I'm gonna be keeping my eye on this one
Incels going to hate this one 😊

Where do the Amazons children comes from? They only should female children so do they adapt orphan girls?
Marvel and DC has been waging on men for over a decade 😂😂😂 what’s new.
How
By trotting out fully clothed women and not treating them like a nuisance for every male character.
@@BlerdWithoutFear no, by treating them as Mary Sues with no character.
As much as i like the immigration allegory, Isnt it canon that everyone remembers past canon events.
If so then um........cough*Amazons Attack*cough
They do. But now you're forcing folks who don't read Wonder Woman in the first place to pretend to know what storyline you're even talking about.
You referring to the genocide arc?
yaaaas you go gurl 🙄
6:04 looking at you older Nigerians
I mean... you're not wrong.

Let's be real here... "Ironically" Wonder Woman is all about, I mean: Changing The System, Breaking The Status Quo & Ending The Patriarchy. That's The Idea Of Her and Why We All Love Her For That, Right?!
I've sadly lived in neighborhoods that were transformed into something else because of people who immigrated and planted their new roots.
My neighborhood was never the same and just trying to shop and walk around would turn into unnecessary interactions from time to time.

I agree. This comic is pretty stupid.
another shitty 'devil made me do it' story
Yup... a white devil...

I am so lost .
They have took a icon wonder woman from a great warrior of truth and justice.
Now it is going right into a Wonder Woman = Warrior of War..
What is going on anymore with all this taking Awesome Iconic Cannon characters and making it join with this woke crap.
Bletd is the perfect reader for a Tom King book. That's obvious by the arrogant way he talks about people who didn't enjoy WW#1 as “butt hurt” or “triggered.” I was waiting for “MAGA extremist” but Blerd disappointed me there.
So marvel has the colonialist and dc has sovereign.
He tried to make wally west a life ender ,tried to get an artist cancelled on a weird watchmen sequel thing? Among other bad writing, but no he is awesome right? 😅😅😅 he isn't a terrible writer but let's not act like he hasn't had as many l misses as hits. He a 60 40 right now.
I was really looking forward to WW #1 &this comic was beyond a let down. It's clear to me that Tom King can tell great stories but he also clearly needs some personal help &or therapy. And I'm just over Tom King destroying characters that I love. Martian Manhunter, Mr Terrific &obviously Batman but then he flipped shit on its head &shit on Catwoman all throughout his Black Lable. Old evil racist white man that's behind everything; like we haven't seen that 1,000 times in the past five years. Let me kno when the next writer takes over Wonder Woman
Sounds hamfisted and politically preachy. Only question is, is that because of the comic, or because of your comentary on if?
Read it for yourself and find out. 😏
Probably both

But the sovereign has the lasso of lies which is the same lasso that Trinity Had In WW #800 and maybe she was talking to him in that cage at the end of it
I forgot to mention his Supergirl. That shit was 🔥🔥🔥
Also, I forgot about that part in WW #800!
I love that you called them on the "bad writing" excuse
Imagine if every woman in America had a lasso of truth!
At this point, the Amazons need to take over.
Also, what does Superman think of this situation?
Superman honestly solves the problem so he can't be deeply involved. Also Amazons can't take over because they'll get caught being hypocrites. The storyline already happened it's never good for them. They do not make things better
Donald Trump HAHAHA
I love how those on the right get so triggered over Tom King's writing, I love to see them get into such a mental overload 😂
