You could put it on the rear or side walls--there's no advantage to access or installation, but in this case, the side wall was the best plumbing option. It allowed for not only the shortest run for water, but the washer drain is able to go directly into a 3" stack with no elbows--just a straight run off the P trap to the 3x3x2 tee.

I've never done one of these before and what I haven't been able to figure out is what parts to get to connect the hose on the wall side to the box so that the box is finished and ready to connect to. Also... there's a shallow version of that box with an oval and not sure what connector to get in that case either.
My dryer is on a 2nd floor duct comes in via floor & vents on house side wall. Can I install a dryer box? I'm going to try & make it work.

The metal pipe will take shape. Then connect flex line from dryer
