this movie is a classic! i never got tire of watching it because the story is so romantic and beautiful!...i thought it was a thai movie! I saw the prince in a thai movie...
I have this movie on hmong love it so much!!! I have it since i was a small girl. Its a gift from my grandma. Now she just past away i will keep it safe and keep the momery with me. Seeing this movie make me miss her RIP Grandma.... I always has a feeling it has to been Malasian or Indonasia.
Traditionally this is where she turns into a peacock and flies away, hence peacock princess. But yeah, someone needs to turn this story into a ballet or something!
The clarity of this movies is so clear and in good quality...The chinese sure keep it safe and sound from deteriating. The story line of this movies is mostly correct by the ancient writters. The story was originally written from and by the Old ancient Cambodian's King. Then travel to other country and the story got twisted uncorrectly fortold. Funny how people think that the princess was born from a bird family, or peacock, or she have wings. She's the daughter of the jade king of heaven.
Beautiful!!!! I love this movie. Such a good story line. Love love LOVE!!! First watched this when I was 6. Lol I am 22 now Omg...... I'm old. This movie is old! Hahaha
This movie is a classical movie of the Dai ethnic of southern China spoken in Chinese. They are not Burmanese or Hmong. The Dai live mainly live in southern part of China and their cultures are very similar to the modern Thai people in Thailand. At one point, the Dai migrated down south and join the native people of Thailand to form what is now known as Thailand. As people live side by side, they tend to have similar folktales and forth.
Very good and sad movie....brings back lots of memories, this story is told in many different asian cultures...but it's good to know that this is the Dai culture..When I first saw the movie, I thought it was probably Burmese or ancient Thai...Thanks for the info
I researched around and this is a Chinese movie based on the Dai people. But the love story between a seventh princess and a prince is a common Asian story.
I truly believe this is a Dai movie telling a story from the Raymana because Dai minority of China are buddist and ancestors to the Lao,Thai, and Shan people. For people who don't know about the DAI please try searching Dai Dance on youtube you will get numerous hits about Dai traditional dance which is similar like this one. Or search Water dai dance and you will see the similarities.
just wondering...my friend said the actress in this movie won a Thai Best Actress award in the 80s for this...So I think the story is probably Khmer, but for this film itself, it is Thai/Chinese production...? People keep saying it is Dai which seems to make sense too...
Haley.. Do you have the whole movie? I was searching for this movie for soooooo long, if you don't mind, I would love to have a copy of it? I'm willing to pay for the cost and the shipping fee. please reply back, greatly appreciated.
This is abot th DAI people in southwestern China. the DAI people our the Thai's ancestral people. I believe I also heard Cambodia and Thai people very closely related and coult be of the same people as well, thus, why so many relations to Princess Namanuona. This movie has been translated in Hmong/(miao) too, a neighboring ethnicity minority to the Dai people.
ya he hid it in the attic and when she was gone he show it to his baby, so one day when he was gone, she found her wings bc the baby kept pointing to the attic bc the baby wants to play with the feather robe, so she put it on and flew away bc he forced her to stay only...well long story forgot what happened -_- but it was a happy ending :)
I love this movies...The Dai version of this story is awesome, unlike the thai version...so boring and uncorrectly fortold. She does not have a wings! She the youngest daughter of the Jade King of Heaven. She used her magical Shaw/bracelet to fly back to heaven, not silly flying with wings like birds.
jsut tell everybody that this movie is not cinese they jsut dubb it so yea. it's not chinese it's khmer people becuae this is a folk tale that they say in the country side.
