This take is nothing less than breathtaking. I admire the astonishing interaction between them both, it's a typical example of the whole consisting of more than its parts. I admire the drama they put in scarcely 2 minutes (I only know that from pianists like Herbie Hancock or Lyle Mays, telling a whole story in such a compressed form). After a while I dug around and found a lot of takes the sisters did and learned that it's not as improvised than I thought, but a highly elaborated flow. Which doesn't diminish my admiration for a second. This one's got the magic touch.

Habe die beiden Schwestern vergangene Woche in Bad Wörrishofen erleben dürfen. Sie brillierten nicht nur mit dem Doppelkonzert von Bach sondern auch mit dem 7. Klavierkonzert von Mozart. Über ihre Zugabe "Libertango" wurde in der Pause lange gerätselt, aber zwei jüngere Konzertbesucher wurden mit Hilfe der modernen Hilfsmittel fündig. Es war ein sehr, sehr gelungenes Konzert. Ich werde noch lange davon zehren.
Ich darf mich auch auf das Vergnügen freuen zumindest Khatia diesen Monat live zu sehen. Ist immer wieder eine Freude Musik live erleben zu dürfen, aber hier freue ich mich besonders. Die beiden haben das Feuer, Temperament und gehen das Risiko, welches viele Konzertpianisten unserer Zeit nicht eingehen. Die Aufnahmen waren immer fantastisch und hatten etwas Neues an sich. Ich kann also kaum darauf warten, es mal in echt zu hören. Wird ein hoffentlich ebenso gelungener Abend.

How do you know it's too fast? Did you know Piazzola personally and did he tell you how fast or slow this piece should be played or is this your personal preference?
