I live in Alaska currently in the valley but i grew up in Barrow or Utqiagvik as it is now called. It is always amazing to see the new tech as it is tested. I worked on testing and installation of fiber optics from 1989 to 1993. It was a great experience.

Just an absolutely bonkers spectacle to witness. Can you imagine standing on that fairly serene white landscape .. when suddenly a gigantic behemoth of destruction punches up through the ice? Incredible feat of engineering, discipline, and teamwork.

200 years ago it would have been considered extraterrestrial or diabolical the technology we have today.
Science and technology has come a long way

No place that I want to visit! 😮😮 I'd never volunteer to dive either. Way way too frightening to think about being stuck there. You did a good job on the video in my opinion. Thank you. 😊😊😊❤❤❤

We started ICEXs in the 60s. And carried them out until the First Flight 688s were the predominant platform, they weren’t under ice capable. Resumed in the 2000s.

I wonder if they use a big air bubble to help break the ice?

Sure they are. They'll be in Kiev in 3 days too. 😂
They're probably not a centimeter ahead of Sweden, Norway, and Finland. And we have troops in Alaska all the time. I'm not worried.
Oh, I forgot to mention Canada. They know about operations in the cold too.

It's smart of US Navy to manually break ice first using 🪓 and what nots and then raise a multi million dollar " ice breaker" sub and save the billions for the US tax payer who actually owns these beautiful submarines.
