I'm Greek, I've seen a lot of what that open border policy has done to the country and the rest of Europe, but I think a lot of it comes from the fanaticism that is brought in by the people and their refusal to comply and be integrated to the hosting country's culture and customs. Then you have people screeching that their culture should be respected even though they trample on ours. I guess if everyone could accept that some of their culture's elements are outdated and didn't get so heated about it, maybe we wouldn't need borders.
