Surftouka yes it does. I think Ji Hoo needed to get his first love ( the model) out of his system FIRST then think about someone else. To me, Ji Hoo was still “autistic” with obsession, alone-ness and being unable to speak his true heart at any given time. If he wanted Jan Di, he needed to get rid of his former girlfriend’s photos in his house, get rid of the horse she gave him for his birthday and anything that had her marks on it. I think even moving away from Korea period and allowing himself some time between have a “crush” on someone would be good. Now that I think about it, the “first love” thoughts about the model was all in Ji Hoos mind. The girl (model) did not see him as a true boyfriend or someone she took romantically serious. What say you?
Jada Parks/Villanueva Jihoo although considered the model his first love but he got over her pretty soon in the drama. Even the horse being a gift was still being taken care by Jihoo, you develop affection towards an animal too that’s why he did not hurt his horse to win the competition unlike Jun Pyo. Also Jandi had also not confessed her love to him that he should have forgotten his first love. Its after seeing how she truly cared for him, he developed friendship with her. Its never shown when he transitioned from friendship to love as even in Macau when his friend asked if he loved her, he couldn’t give a clear answer. I think he loved her but didn’t realise it as Jun Pyo did. But yes if he reciprocated Jandi initially itself, she was so smitten by him that Jun Pyo would have never come into the picture and so we wouldn’t have got this show.

What I liked about the other to version of this. Japanese "Hana dango yori" and the Taiwan " Meteor Garden" is that the leading men rebel against their mothers and was willing to give up their money for the woman they loved. In this one. If that girl wouldn't have stop the wedding Jun Pyo would have gotten married. He did every thing he could to stop the wedding but renounce his inherit.
I haven't seen the others yet, I do plan to start Meteor Garden now that I finished with Boys over Flowers. I couldn't help thinking with that witch of a mother he had, she makes the fairytale stepmother's look like angels compared to her!
If JunPyo had no money, JanDi wouldve had nothing to like about him. He said it himself, all he can do for her is buy her things. JiHoo was the one who actually helped her out from the start.
I love this!! Even if I liked that she ended up with hun pyo I felt really sad that Ji hoo had a sad ending, I was waiting till the very end to see him happy, to move on and find someone else but no, he's still in love with the girl that he'll never have...It's too sad, he deserved better!!

I cannot get enough of this video! I can relate to Ji Hoo in a way. Currently, I am in a one-sided love. My best friend won my heart. But, he doesn't feel the same way. I come and watch this video every time that I think about him. You would think that it makes things worse. But, it actually helps. It helps me get the tears that I have been holding back out.

It's been almost a decade and I still haven't moved on from this drama. I saw it recently again and here's what I think: She did NOT end up with Gu Joon Pyo. Spoilers ahead: The ending of BOF (Korean) ending was (deliberately) ambiguous. At first, I was disappointed by the seemingly anticlimatic ending. But upon replay, I realised that ending was open to interpretation. I went online to see some other opinions and I am convinced she didn't end up with Gu Joon Pyo (at least not in this Korean version of HYD). As a Jihoo-Jandi shipper, the ending gave me a glimmer of hope. You see, Jandi never said "Yes" to Gu Joon Pyo's marriage proposal. She joked it off at first. But when he got down on his knees and offered her the ring, she didn't look happy to me. In fact, she lost her smile. Also, remember when he arrived in that helicopter, she didn't seem very ecstatic. In fact, Joon Pyo's complained that she didn't run to him. Four years apart and such a lukewarm response! What am I supposed to infer from this? Another thing is that when Gu Joon Pyo's hugs her, we don't see her hugging him back. So, it leads me to wonder, when he proposed, would she have said Yes or No? Everything I saw in her body language tells me she wouldn't have said Yes. And that last shot when all 5 of the them are staring into the sea seems poignant. Both JiHoo and JanDi were in white, in contrast with the rest of them wearing black, including Gu Joon Pyo. As if Jandi and JiHoo are the matched pair, even though Gu Joon Pyo is the one holding her. Notice, she is not holding him back. Just my observation but I really believe JanDi didn't end up with Gu Joon Pyo. PS: No offence to Gu Jun Pyo fans.

Boys over flowers will forever be my favorite kdrama and not only because it was my first. The moment I saw Geum JanDi on her bike making the most original facial expression I knew I was going to love her character. Goo kye sun is such a great actress. I fell for her character because she was able to stand out with who she was. You can obviously see how plain her looks can be but her personality literally takes care of all of that! And then she is able to be beautiful with her looks at the right moments that gives an even better effect of her character, it all just makes her overpower anyone else. She played Geum JanDi so well. Geum JanDi is so warm hearted, caring and real. She doesn't put herself first, always trying to please everybody around her no matter the heart break it may give her. She is a heroin I will always be able to look up to. The only time she ever had to hurt anybody else was with her own love, that moment she left Goo JunPyo for the sake of her friends... In that moment she put her was still able to return any affection to JiHoo for leaving for his sake because of the damage she was doing to his company. And even though she left her love to ache she was aching herself so no matter the circumstance she still put herself last. In the end she did leave JiHoo with a heart ache but they still stayed beside each other. I wanted JanDi to end up with JunPyo as soon as they met even if JiHoo was the perfect match for her... JunPyo was lonely and has never felt a love like JanDi. JiHoo had his first love at the time. Loneliness triggered my feelings for their love and even though in the end the plot completely swapped with JiHoo being lonely, like how JunPyo was, it still wouldn't be right if JiHoo and Jandi ended up together. JanDi and JunPyo fought for their love. Showed us that it isn't easy. They stayed together even if there were chances of a better life with other people. Their relationship grew stronger despite the distance. When JiHoo left, there were no more feelings triggered. JiHoo is a lovely character and soft that you would just want to be soft with him but because of the strength the others had to gain he was to be left alone. I believe that even if JunPyo and JanDi did end up together, JiHoo will accept their happiness and make it his own. For as long as Geum JanDi and Goo JunPyo will be happy so will JiHoo for the sake of his best friends. He did love JanDi but I think he loves JunPyo too, so much that it satisfies him. The plot was so well written. Never once has this drama failed to make me want more. I cannot believe how emotionally involved I got with this drama. I haven't felt so satisfied with any other. It ended perfectly too. Not giving us a straight answer to whether she will marry him or not and I think that they didn't give us an answer to show that no love story ends, it will forever continue with a little question needed to be solved. Love is not easy but they held each other's hand and refused to let go. JanDi will forever be grateful for JiHoo she did not mistreat him or lead him on, she was there for him as much as he was for her. That is an irreplaceable love. Their friendship, soulmates, destined to love each other if the world allowed love to be so simple.
I disagree about Jan Di not leading Ji Hoo on, she totally did, because she was confused and didn't know what she wanted sometimes cause she had feelings for both boys, but Ji Hoo never took advantage of her. In the end Ji Hoo understood her love for Jun Pyo and stepped aside, to allow them happiness. He gave up his own happiness for her, I think that's what makes him a great character. I personally would have liked her to end up with ji Hoo, i think they matched better but I like Jun Pyo too ^^

Cuz i don't liked the idea as that Ji Ho is not her noble's heart .. I really really like sensible boy that Kim Hyun Joong playes in this series -and from that reason is my favorite k-drama but i don't like see him suffer . @h0u4 No, the one at his house, he moved in to kiss her, she pulled away. I don't believe soulmate = love though, you can have a best friend that's your soulmate. Ji Hoo idolised Seo Hyun, it wasn't really love he felt but need and dependence, that was why they could never work. He was on the same level as Jan Di and it was based on friendship then that grew into love (for him), so in that way it's not anything like what he had with Seo Hyun.

Jan Di did give Ji Hoo strength but in a different way to Seo Hyun, the two girls were not alike, their feelings towards Ji Hoo were not alike. His feelings for them were not alike. I don't like repeating myself but, Ji Hoo/Jan Di = based on friendship - Ji Hoo/Seo Hyun = based on need and dependance.

I was already teary because I watched the fancam with KHJ where he was talking about his first love (and about to cry) so this just heightened all my emotions. This is just beautiful - the angst, the song, the flashbacks, it's perfect. I shipped Jan Di/Ji Hoo from the start (Jun Pyo was such a jerk!!) and she even said they were soulmates!! :( He should never have let her go T^T Ji Hoo deserves so much more - his loves have always left.
Ji hoo and Jan Di were the perfect pair, they were so right for each other. Granted Jun pyo’s character was the more forceful and he was the epitome of the “bad boy”, and the first male lead, I still would have liked happiness for all of them. Ji hoo was the better man because up a chance for his own happiness, had he had less consideration for his friend he may very well have ended up with the girl! .....But, then the whole putting others first and self last would have made this a very different tale. I have seen it twice and still love watching it. The F4 boys have the reputation of bullying yet they have many followers. Let’s face it, the school would have been a very boring place without their antics. Their F4 “Rooms” are unbelievably gorgeous.

What I liked about the other to version of this. Japanese "Hana dango yori" and the Taiwan " Meteor Garden" is that the leading men rebel against their mothers and was willing to give up their money for the woman they loved. In this one. If that girl wouldn't have stop the wedding Jun Pyo would have gotten married. He did every thing he could to stop the wedding but renounce his inherit.
I haven't seen the others yet, I do plan to start Meteor Garden now that I finished with Boys over Flowers. I couldn't help thinking with that witch of a mother he had, she makes the fairytale stepmother's look like angels compared to her!

I love this!! Even if I liked that she ended up with hun pyo I felt really sad that Ji hoo had a sad ending, I was waiting till the very end to see him happy, to move on and find someone else but no, he's still in love with the girl that he'll never have...It's too sad, he deserved better!!

I cannot get enough of this video! I can relate to Ji Hoo in a way. Currently, I am in a one-sided love. My best friend won my heart. But, he doesn't feel the same way. I come and watch this video every time that I think about him. You would think that it makes things worse. But, it actually helps. It helps me get the tears that I have been holding back out.

It's been almost a decade and I still haven't moved on from this drama. I saw it recently again and here's what I think: She did NOT end up with Gu Joon Pyo.
Spoilers ahead:
The ending of BOF (Korean) ending was (deliberately) ambiguous. At first, I was disappointed by the seemingly anticlimatic ending. But upon replay, I realised that ending was open to interpretation. I went online to see some other opinions and I am convinced she didn't end up with Gu Joon Pyo (at least not in this Korean version of HYD). As a Jihoo-Jandi shipper, the ending gave me a glimmer of hope.
You see, Jandi never said "Yes" to Gu Joon Pyo's marriage proposal. She joked it off at first. But when he got down on his knees and offered her the ring, she didn't look happy to me. In fact, she lost her smile. Also, remember when he arrived in that helicopter, she didn't seem very ecstatic. In fact, Joon Pyo's complained that she didn't run to him. Four years apart and such a lukewarm response! What am I supposed to infer from this? Another thing is that when Gu Joon Pyo's hugs her, we don't see her hugging him back. So, it leads me to wonder, when he proposed, would she have said Yes or No? Everything I saw in her body language tells me she wouldn't have said Yes. And that last shot when all 5 of the them are staring into the sea seems poignant. Both JiHoo and JanDi were in white, in contrast with the rest of them wearing black, including Gu Joon Pyo. As if Jandi and JiHoo are the matched pair, even though Gu Joon Pyo is the one holding her. Notice, she is not holding him back. Just my observation but I really believe JanDi didn't end up with Gu Joon Pyo.
PS: No offence to Gu Jun Pyo fans.

Boys over flowers will forever be my favorite kdrama and not only because it was my first. The moment I saw Geum JanDi on her bike making the most original facial expression I knew I was going to love her character. Goo kye sun is such a great actress. I fell for her character because she was able to stand out with who she was. You can obviously see how plain her looks can be but her personality literally takes care of all of that! And then she is able to be beautiful with her looks at the right moments that gives an even better effect of her character, it all just makes her overpower anyone else. She played Geum JanDi so well. Geum JanDi is so warm hearted, caring and real. She doesn't put herself first, always trying to please everybody around her no matter the heart break it may give her. She is a heroin I will always be able to look up to. The only time she ever had to hurt anybody else was with her own love, that moment she left Goo JunPyo for the sake of her friends... In that moment she put her was still able to return any affection to JiHoo for leaving for his sake because of the damage she was doing to his company. And even though she left her love to ache she was aching herself so no matter the circumstance she still put herself last. In the end she did leave JiHoo with a heart ache but they still stayed beside each other. I wanted JanDi to end up with JunPyo as soon as they met even if JiHoo was the perfect match for her... JunPyo was lonely and has never felt a love like JanDi. JiHoo had his first love at the time. Loneliness triggered my feelings for their love and even though in the end the plot completely swapped with JiHoo being lonely, like how JunPyo was, it still wouldn't be right if JiHoo and Jandi ended up together. JanDi and JunPyo fought for their love. Showed us that it isn't easy. They stayed together even if there were chances of a better life with other people. Their relationship grew stronger despite the distance. When JiHoo left, there were no more feelings triggered. JiHoo is a lovely character and soft that you would just want to be soft with him but because of the strength the others had to gain he was to be left alone. I believe that even if JunPyo and JanDi did end up together, JiHoo will accept their happiness and make it his own. For as long as Geum JanDi and Goo JunPyo will be happy so will JiHoo for the sake of his best friends. He did love JanDi but I think he loves JunPyo too, so much that it satisfies him. The plot was so well written. Never once has this drama failed to make me want more. I cannot believe how emotionally involved I got with this drama. I haven't felt so satisfied with any other. It ended perfectly too. Not giving us a straight answer to whether she will marry him or not and I think that they didn't give us an answer to show that no love story ends, it will forever continue with a little question needed to be solved. Love is not easy but they held each other's hand and refused to let go. JanDi will forever be grateful for JiHoo she did not mistreat him or lead him on, she was there for him as much as he was for her. That is an irreplaceable love. Their friendship, soulmates, destined to love each other if the world allowed love to be so simple.
I disagree about Jan Di not leading Ji Hoo on, she totally did, because she was confused and didn't know what she wanted sometimes cause she had feelings for both boys, but Ji Hoo never took advantage of her. In the end Ji Hoo understood her love for Jun Pyo and stepped aside, to allow them happiness. He gave up his own happiness for her, I think that's what makes him a great character. I personally would have liked her to end up with ji Hoo, i think they matched better but I like Jun Pyo too ^^

Cuz i don't liked the idea as that Ji Ho is not her noble's heart .. Ji Hoo is a great guy and a good friend who really love her with all his heart , but from what i see , did not receive the love given back .. I really really like sensible boy that Kim Hyun Joong playes in this series -and from that reason is my favorite k-drama but i don't like see him suffer . The invitation to the wedding did more than just spinning knife wound .. Poor Kimy .. Come to me , I will listen carefully and I will be there :] . Honestly , I would be very bad if a boy as good as it should happen that in everyday life .. Sorry, I know it's just a show but inside I'm a very sensitive person and I come crying to me if I see other people crying , especially if you cry for love .. From this point of view I hate this drama . Why for two people to be happy the third has to suffer ? That does not understand and I not try to understand because it's stupid . Why when you try so much the person you love show you that she don't ? Yeah , sorry .. They were just rhetorical questions .. How many do I have to say .. If in real life, somebody sacrifices themselves fr their love the way Ji Hoo does here, the girl should leave the Jun Pyo for Ji Hoo bcoz in real life, always go fr the one who loves YOU unconditionally. Thou Jun Pyo loved her too, bt all the sufferings caused to her bcoz of his existence was eased by Ji Hoo only, Jandi should've been with Ji Hoo. If one compares the childhood of both thr guys, they both had suffered much, on the counterpart , Hashin Yong (the new girl) fell fr Jun Pyo too, bt there was no one fr ji Hoo, no family, no lady love to love him back. Despite these, he did everything in his capacity for his love. He was ready to sacrifice her fr his best frnd, he sacrificed twice. Bt alas, he ended up alone again. Thou it's just a story & they made it such to sell it bttr, bt for me, Jandi and Ji Hoo are meant to end up together, and they just have if there is any Jandi and Ji Hoo fr real.
@h0u4 No, the one at his house, he moved in to kiss her, she pulled away. I don't believe soulmate = love though, you can have a best friend that's your soulmate. Ji Hoo idolised Seo Hyun, it wasn't really love he felt but need and dependence, that was why they could never work. He was on the same level as Jan Di and it was based on friendship then that grew into love (for him), so in that way it's not anything like what he had with Seo Hyun.

@h0u4 I don't think you are looking at the whole thing objectivly and honestly I've already said why. Jan Di did give Ji Hoo strength but in a different way to Seo Hyun, the two girls were not alike, their feelings towards Ji Hoo were not alike. His feelings for them were not alike. I don't like repeating myself but, Ji Hoo/Jan Di = based on friendship - Ji Hoo/Seo Hyun = based on need and dependance.

I console myself with the thought that JiHoo and JanDi are still together 4 years later...Also, JanDi didn't actually say Yes to Gu JoonPyo's proposal at the end. I mean she didnt even look that happy seeing JoonPyo after 4 long years apart. She smiled way brighter watching JiHoo interact with the kids in the previous scene. So, in my head, JanDi broke up with Gu JoonPyo and ended up with JiHoo.

Ji hoo and Jan Di were the perfect pair, they were so right for each other. Granted Jun pyo’s character was the more forceful and he was the epitome of the “bad boy”, and the first male lead, I still would have liked happiness for all of them. Ji hoo was the better man because up a chance for his own happiness, had he had less consideration for his friend he may very well have ended up with the girl!
.....But, then the whole putting others first and self last would have made this a very different tale. I have seen it twice and still love watching it. The F4 boys have the reputation of bullying yet they have many followers. Let’s face it, the school would have been a very boring place without their antics. Their F4 “Rooms” are unbelievably gorgeous.
