Great place, have been there many times, but whch way did you go after the bridge to reach mermaids pool, I wish there was a commentary on your exact route, did you start at the sheep trail which goes towards sandy heys ? Have you ever tried getting all the way up the river kinder, or is this way impossible to reach the downfall.
ChrisBigBoy Thanks for the comments...we went up to the Kinder dam passing it and the lake on the left which takes you to the bridge...most ppl then go up the clough..we went up the steep bank after the bridge which also leads to kinder top...but half way you can traverse below rocks and cliffs to reach mermaids pool...difficult terrain but easy to find your way... another way is to walk around lake and then just follow river all way up to the downfall...climbing up from the downfall can be exposed in places but easy routes can be found either side...
Many thanks for that info, last week I tied to reach mermaids pool through the woods but ran out of time, it was a bit slippy and rough going, will try your route soon, I've also tried going straight up by the river Kinder but have never made it to the downfall as too many huge rocks to scramble over and I had to keep crossing the river, ALSO looks like you climbed up the downfall without special equipment, is this correct, cheers CB
ChrisBigBoy We walked to the left side of downfall just below the cliffs and rocks(there is a grassy ledge) approx 150 yds there is an easy way up to the top but there is a bit of scrambling..but the further you go the easier it gets;Just don't attempt the accent near the downfall unless you're a climber with the right equipment. Also when you leave mermaids pool contour round without losing much height (there is a steep grassy/rocky slope) eventually you reach river not too far from the downfall...there is a bit of scrambling but it's not too difficult...all in all its one of my favourite Derbs walks and not many ppl do it as it's away from the popular routes
Nice vid bringing back many memories, loved climbing and scrambling up the downfall from childhood onward :-)
Happiness and serenity, good job by both of you. Loved the music too.

What a beautiful place! I like the music also. What soundtrack are you using?
You risk your life walking up steep hills like that.

Surprisingly deadly.
ouch what happened?
👍👍👍
Doing this next week. Where did you park to pick up that trail?
Bowden bridge car park or nearby road leading up to it is good
@@michaelbennett6925 Parked outside the pub, been back a few times now.
Loads of people fallen to their deaths there over the years. Google it if you don't believe me.
