I can explain to you why, my dad's been collecting watches since i was a kid (im 26 now) so its something we used to bond over. Anyways the reason why the Oyster perpetual is valued at 40k usd is because it's a stainless steel rolex watch. Stainless Steel rolex watches are rarely made and they have a limited quantity, which results in its resale value being 2-3x more than its msrp. Incase you wanted to understand.
