    man i'm telling you this kid is coming man, been a fan of his game since his barcelona run last year. his biggest asset is not his game but his temperament, kid's just got ice in his vein, and I haven't seen him really fazed in a match so far in his career. he doesn't get too mad or too excited, just always got a calm and chill vibe to him on and off the court, sorta reminded me of borg (not because of the hair). Man after that 1st set's set point when the crowd called his ball out and he just kept his composure and moved on, that's the rarest gift to have in tennis, and I was like this one's different from the rest

      He's showing the most promise of any of the younger stars, already in the top ten, he's not messing around. Also great that he attacks with serve and volley. Shows a strong mindset and the will to win. That's what it takes man. Greek athlete too. Heheh.

    This is a bittersweet moment. I am a diehard Federer fan, so of course a defeat like this stings, it also doesn´t help that we didn´t see him at his best. However, I fully believe Stefanos deserved this one and am overjoyed to see a player like him (stylish, talented, tactical, etc.) get such an important win. I´m sad because my favorite player lost, and yet I feel happy for the future.

    • @MalphasMikaelson
      @MalphasMikaelson 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I don't really agree. I think that first of all Tiafoe doesn't belong in that category. The guy has sucked most of his career, he needs to do good for a longer period before he should be put in that same category. Second of all those guys at the moment aren't good enough to have the future of Tennis be in good hands 'cause atm the top players are still the big 3, they're the ones to beat. Zverev has the best rank out of them but he also isn't the best at Slams.

    • @MalphasMikaelson
      @MalphasMikaelson 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Future of women's Tennis isn't in good hands though. The women are inconsistent and can lose at any stage. Stephens just lost to an unseeded player. That same player also beat Bertens but Bertens was on her way to win until the unforced errors kept on happening. Even Halep who's the current number 1 struggles against random players.
      Women's Tennis has never looked this horrible before. There were 2 young girls who looked impressive and then they faced Serena and Kvitova and they both showed them how mediocre they actually are.

    • @chanpark7634

      @@sauravdwivedi6999 we are clearly watching a MEN'S tennis tournament here. What he stated is true regarding the men's tennis. If we were to watch a Women's tennis and talked about the future of tennis, it would've been a different story. Don't come and watch a men's tennis match and be triggered solely by your misunderstanding.

    • @Paakid
      @Paakid 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MalphasMikaelson why doesn't Tiafoe not belong there? If you look at the guys he's beaten including the world number 5 along the way then he's more than earnt his spot and only 21 years old at that. Hater!

      Nadal has been playing incredibly so far and Djokovic hasn't really been tested. I hope for a new winner, perhaps a young guy but I think it will be Novak or Rafa still. I am rooting for this guy now or Tiafoe, Zverev or perhaps even Nishikori but I am convinced Nadal will reach the final and on the other side of the draw it's going to be either Zverev but most probably Djokovic. The changing of the guard won't happen overnight, mark my words. I am a Federer fan and I really felt that Roger winning 3 years in a row would be a bit too much but he certainly could have done better today. I respect Nadal but I hope he won't win. I think he will though.

      @Jake lol personally I kinda like when a subset of fans get super salty after a match like this. Note that I'm referring to only a subset of fans who easily gets salty not the entire fanbase... It's just fun to watch people who are easily butthurt getting butthurt ya know?
      As a normal fan if my favorite player loses like this I'd be too amazed at his opponent's performance to be salty.

      @Jake note that I'm not referring to just any person. Only people who gets angry for no good reason/value their favorite player's win/loss over the sport itself. And yeah, can't believe I have to say this, ofc people being outraged over legitimately offensive things is not funny. I don't think you are quite understanding that distinction.
      BTW gotta love that passive aggressive :). Or maybe I'm not interpreting your sentiment correctly?

    Stefanos played his heart out and believed he could , really well played , not even talking about the 17 yr age difference and these players should be destroying players like the great Roger but the score line doesn’t seem so , the matter of the fact these next gen players seem only seasonal , only to have beaten top ranked players having a good day and a good game until the quarters and when it really matters , they don’t deliver , for instance everyone is talking about Tsitsipas and being compared to the match in 2001 (Fed vs Pistol Pete) , I mean cmon if you have to beat the Goat , you need to go on and win a grand slam and then talk , also if you happen to win , there needs to be consistency shown at the highest level at least if not winning , making it to the semis or finals in each grand slam where most of the next gen players crash out before the round of 16 , Juan del Porto is lethal no doubt but after wining 2009 we haven’t seen him maintaining that dominance like the big 3(Andy Murray was never in their league, not sure why was it called the big 4) , so these next gen players are seasonal , they come and go just like Grigor Dimitrov was the next big thing few years ago but failed to win any major, by now he should have at least won 1, there have been others too such as Thiem, Shapovalov, Khachanov,Coric , Zverev,but none perform when its required the most to raise their games,only way for the next gen players to probably win is when the big 3 retire, to close it up in the words of Roger ‘ Novak is right there at the top , Rafa is protecting the clay(well I would say at times the hard courts as well) and I sometimes give them a hard time too ‘

    I love the fact that some of these young players are up and coming and are challenging the stalwarts of the game. It is inevitable, and die hard Roger fans will need to get used to disappointments more and more as the years roll by. But can people please stop comparing Tsitsipas to Roger as though they are equals. Someone even had the nerve to call Tsitsipas GOAT. Yes he has potential, yes he may go on to win many slams, but comment on his style, comment on his attitude, compare his potential at the same age. But, Dkovich, Nadal, Zverev, Kyrgios etc have all beaten Roger in recent memory, and this kid still has a loooonnnngg way to go to prove himself , before he can reasonably be compared to Roger as a player...... P.S. Aus Open organisers, Please keep John away from the wine, or stop letting him interview players.
