As an powertrain engineer for an automotive OEM, I can say-
The new X3 ECUs are advanced enough to have a break in algorithm. Not sure if BRP does that.
I honestly have ZERO idea about the Polaris.
I'd like to see a re-dyno of both machines at 1000-1500 miles to make sure neither one has a break in period
The RZR will blow up before that

Horsepower to weight ratio will make the real difference on a true head to head run. Great vid as always!

TurboRR power/weight =150.44/1802=83.2 mHp

@@jacobyunker2168 That would be weight to power ratio. I did power to weight. Either one will tell you what your looking for. One the smaller number wins the other the bigger number wins.
The results above I gave in Engineering Notation another way to right the results would be .074 hp/lb and .083 hp/lb

I drove the 2022 4 seater Xrs up olds in glamis yesterday, it has me seriously thinking about selling my big turbo car. The clutch was so smooth. The smart shocks made the ride smooth.
I have the XRS max RRS 2021 and we love this beast!I put almost 3k on it and no breakdowns or belt breaks💪Did bend a rear sway bar link and just replaced with ShockTherapy links and added the TLS kit❤️👍

I'll never own a side by side, maybe when I'm an old fart and can't ride 2 wheels anymore... but I'm happy ol cleet got me here nonetheless. Love this crew and the shenanigoids they get into
SxS are much easier on your body! For us lazy ppl that want to sit and go fast instead of holding on for dear life. A bit safer. That's all! 2 wheels are a blast though!
I said that once before. The next thing I knew I was I’m in my early 40’s, my son outgrew his YZ85 and took over my yz250x, and I’m in a side by side. I can’t fully let go, so I still make him switch with me for a little while when we ride. I also said I would never pay those crazy prices, but then I ended up with a pro xp ultimate. To be totally honest, after riding dirt bikes for 25-30 years, I find myself having more fun in the side by side. Moral of the story is never say never.

12lb/hp for X3 and a bit over 13lb/hp for the RZR. Interestingly they have almost identical drivetrain loss of ~25%.
How perfect was that when you clicked the mouse and the 1st number on the dyno was 168. Just a little reminder to sous that he's on to better things love the content you guys kick ass rich rules and see ya on the big end

Im a polaris guy but when i bought my 2021 x3 i was transformed. Nice and clean and reliable.

As far as dyno numbers, and the "upper rpm" numbers, I feel the cvt will not show the same curve as a "regular" trans. Once the cvt is at it's throw limits, you are holding that rpm and max power. It might drop off due to the fact that now all you are doing is accelerating the dyno drum. Due to the physics involved with the rotating drum, it might require less horsepower to go from 50mph to 80mph, as compared to the power required to get to 50mph, which might possibly the point that your cvt is at it's throw limits. Maybe, the cvt is backing off it's limits at speed, therefore not making full power. I don't know, tbh. Just a theory I thought of. Maybe someone with real world experience can chime in.
This is a great theory I share as the power number don't really add up.

The can am has a limited power break in tune for like the 1st 5 or 10 hours BREAK IT IN AN RE RUN IT BOYSSS!!!

Iam truly happy , these two machines have reinvigorated me with this channel sous is my fave and Doug and Matt but even lafarto is better. It's like the old SXS. Thank you for this. Iam a can am owner but man that Pro R is calling me for reals. Lol

The Polaris actual lost more power225-170 first run,vs 200-150 first run.Then the weight difference close to 500lbs with both having full tanks.I’ll take the RR pocket the $10+k
The ProR is next gen, buying the other machines is a losing battle IMO, constantly chasing power

The only problem with either machine is actually buying one. The mark-ups and wait time on both are ridiculous. There isn't a dealer in North America that can guarantee getting a Pro R before the end of the summer. The first allocations are completely sold out.

I get Polaris went absolutely nuts on making the unit beefy and strong but wow, not even close. 500lbs is a lot of extra weight it has to carry around.
And it didn’t even have a full tank of gas like the X3…she’s a fat girl

Definitely awesome. But the X3 has the power to weight advantage 12 to 1 compared to 13.5 to 1. That's a pretty big difference.

Ref to X3 break in: I couldn't find the official info but there is an engine break in ECU lockout on Can-AM (BRP) products, my sked manual (most handy one I could find) says it's approximately two full tanks of fuel. A very noticeable difference especially at top end after that! Honestly doesn't make sense to do the test before then as you're not going to see the full potential output.

@@dacuna64 Until you do a donut then it's not ;) We could argue about power to weight... but seriously I'd like to see them put a supercharger (or a turbo) on the Pro R. Seen a video of the Kawi with a supercharger and it was impressive and seemed be a reliable / drivable solution.
Some other channel has already raced the two, the X3 takes it by a couple cars but they were using their own ECU due to supply chain shortages

Pro at 13.6 pounds per horse vs the X3 at 12 pounds per horse. Interesting to see the change as they break in and how accessories affect those numbers.

I could be wrong but for first 200 miles on the canam there’s a brake in. Pulls timing up top. Which could explain the major power difference.

Hey guys. My dad and I are debating of going with either a 2021 Can am or Polaris S4. We're planning on driving pretty much everywhere. We've looked into both really well and still can't decide. How much TQ did they both make and what RPM was the peak TQ at ? That will give us an idea how they might run in the field next to each other. always cool to see new machines on the dyno! thanks for letting us see some real world numbers have a great day.. Bob..

I heard the 22 can am ecu will limit power until a certain amount of time/hours are reached. Not sure how accurate that information is though. It would be cool to see a dyno run after 10-15 hours or so.

It is a much heavier car, but all the components are super heavy duty and I have no issues if beefier parts adds weight. I am also guessing within a year, the mods for the Polaris will not only add more performance but be much more reliable. 600hp should be easily achievable
I think that stock for stock the pro R is going to edge out the X3 in a drag race. Seems like the P drive may sacrifice a little power for smooth and quiet! Great video!
LaRue Performance put their ECU and dash in the CanAm due to no ECU, dash or key, and it walked the ProR. Just found them, don’t have the SxSBlog vibe, but good machines and work it appears so far as I have watched.
You guys should start wearing ear protection on those dynos
