- Moyers & Company follows up on a breakthrough 2012 report about ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council. A national consortium of state politicians and powerful corporations, ALEC presents itself as a "nonpartisan public-private partnership." But behind that mantra lies a network of lobbying and political action aimed to increase corporate profits at public expense without public knowledge.

OMG...thanks to everyone involved with doing this most important work on behalf of the Democracy of America. What absolute Earth Angels you all are. True Patriots. I can never thank you enough and I wish Bill Moyers would get into politics but at this point, he's probably doing much more good doing his show than he could in office. In fact, yes, he is--the System must be changed before progress can be made and that is what he--and everyone involved in the show are doing by raising awareness and bringing the shadow government into the Light of Truth.
It's too bad that only 12,000 people have seen this (as of July, 2015). Everyone should know this. Their secrecy is part of their power. #plutocracy

This is why it's so important to vote at the State level. We need to exercise our Rights at the district level when we vote, which is typically twice every year. Understand what is going on with our State Leaders...

Not to mention, people screaming about "limited" federal government. Well of course, limited means less regulation, less oversight by the federal government. This video explains why that's so important to the propagandists.
John Nichols summary emphasizes that they don't need to go to Washington to accomplish these corporate welfare impacts. But he should have included the fact that you don't need to go to each state and follow lobby laws either, the states come to you.

At 4:29 finally the truth. Not that African Americans don't already know. But it's a George Floyd moment. There are people who need to see & hear this for themselves.
The real problem is the senators and others who actually follow and put into law what Alec writes down. That is where the vote comes in. vote these people out if you don't like what they try to put into law. If you like them vote them back in. Groups like Alec are allowed by law because they are just a group of people, like a political party.

The group I’m referencing is called Progressive States Network, the liberal doppelganger of ALEC in every discernible respect. Except in the obsessively-vilified-by-liberals respect.
Except they don't have the John Birch Society funding them. That's right, the Koch brothers (Koch Industries) are simply a repackaged version of their dad's racist John Birch Society. The Tea Party just happened to come into existence as a reaction to the election of the 1st African American POTUS. (Even Sarah Palin admits that). The Tea Party is an astroturf group founded by the same old racist Koch family.
Further, the Progressive States Network doesn't have anywhere near the reach of ALEC. ALEC funds the GOP and the RNC. ALL the Republicans in Congress are Tea Party backed. MOST DEMOCRATS aren't even liberal, and even fewer are progressive.
That's like trying to claim George Soros is the liberal equivalent of the Kochs. The Kochs have their fingers in EVERYTHING. Not so George Soros.
So dream on and keep sipping that Kool-Aid; SOME DAY you'll wake up realize this is no longer a Representative Democracy. Farewell to the US Constitution. Farewell to the Bill of Rights.

Did you know that ALEC was co-sounded by the same guy that co-founded the Heritage Foundation? And did you know that the Heritage Foundation has played a MAJOR ROLE in the shaping of T-rump's Transition Team? Who is supposed to drain the swamp again?? Oh, wait.. Well I guess THAT won't happen since T-rump is in BED with the SWAMP!
Obviously this video is put together by a liberal think tank. Privatized education is not necessarily a bad thing. Public schools need greater competition to force it to improve the education system. Also, many environmental rules today are not made by elected officials rather they are made by non elected bureaucrats. That should never be the case in any state.
