It’s a thing of beauty. Love it! How’s it gone over the years? Looks great!

id love an explanation of how you approached making the second second be able to go up. seems like everyone's home diy towers like this always gloss over that crucial step. i love it though, and i'm about to build my own. cheers.

Great job! getting anything in or out of the garage might be an issue. First thing I thought was why didn't they mount it to the corner and not block the door.
2nd I'd minimized all the balancing act. A 2nd winch and a pulley could raise it from horizontal, where you could work on the antenna's to vertical. I'm putting up a similar set up this spring for 2m/70cm antenna's and getting of the main tower so I don't to move them when I move the HF antenna's

Thanks Dave for your input the door never gets opened and it was how rusty wanted it setup that is why there is no second winch for the tilt over.

Hello sir let me start by saying that is a beautiful job. I was wondering if you have the plans on how to make one like that I've been searching every where and no luck. My old mentor that has passed on had one like that and I fell in love. Thank you in advance.

During your install I was wondering about the placement of the mast, like Vincent R asked. So there is no plan to use the garage door to park a car/truck size. Great. How do you address lightning protection?

Hi terry the door is not used so no problem, there are several earth stakes around the garage and we use the braid from rg213 coax that was left over and flattened out and solder lugs to coax braid and connected to mounting point of the mast. I hope that helps.

I wonder how many building codes and ordinances that mast is violating, blocking the door like that. Yes, it appears that you could still get a couple of cars in on either side but what happens if you need to get something larger inside for whatever reason? Could this have been placed on the side or perhaps the other end of the building?

I've got to ask the question, now, how are you going to get that 1960's Cadillac out of the garage on Sunday morn when it's time to go to church with that pole in the way?

Hi Vincent it is at my mates place and he does not use the door, thank you for pointing this out, no one else has commented on that fact, witch shows you are very observant.
