Subscribed as soon as you invited folks to sign and sell their version of your paintings. I've never felt comfortable doing so, and credit the creator, but that is a generous gift to beginners. Many thanks.
:) no problem! I hope you sell some paintings :)! Keep me posted
@@AndrewBroussardWatercolors Thanks so much. I make vignettes like this lovely painting into cards which seem to make people happy, though selling them would seem like honest validation as you know they're not purchasing because they're loyal friends. 😊
Thats really cool!

Wow, such a beautiful artwork!!!!
Thank you!
I also love that you have an art cat, Hammie! (He's the one that made me subscribe).
Wow. Really cool. Wish I could paint. That's why I started photography. I couldn't get a brush to work. Hahahah!
Thanks dude!! I wish I was good at photography!
I love this abstract landscape (I have no idea if you were going for this look). The sodalite has amazing granulation. I keep forgetting I have this color in my collection. Thank you for being a generous artist with your permissions and your knowledge. Your hake brush killz me. It's so mangy! Mine is not anywhere near this level of mangy.
I love cool and calming feel of sodalite, and color is beautiful.
Thats a great way to describe it!
The tonal paintings are so lovely. Thank you for showing them. Some of us need all the help we can get. I actually have some sodalite & I love the color. It is great for dark areas.
Thank you! ill have to add more experiments with this tube in the future :)
Beautifully done!
........ ahhh yes. I too often have a 10lb copilot. 😂 Mischievous buggers
Sodalite is one of my favorites for water and skys.
Ill have to piece it out and use it for just sky and water :)!
So beautiful! 🙏🎨🇿🇦
Thank you!
Gorgeous color and painting!
Thanks!
For monochrome sketches, I love Winsor & Newton Professional Payne's Grey and Van Gogh's Sepia !!! Good job on this, well done!
Ill try those out! Thanks
@@AndrewBroussardWatercolors Does D.Smith, make 2 different Sodalite Genuine versions, one Primatek and a non Primatek? I found 2 different in my local artshop,a half pan that is like your tube and the tube doesn't have the Primatek logo on, and the swatch is a more bluish color, without any granulation. Could these be the exact same color, or they make 2 different versions? Does anybody know please? I don't know which one to order and I really want to try this! (they cost double the price here) 15$ half pan.
I'm really not sure, but I would never pay $15 for a half pan. I would go through it way too quick
Sodalite is a semi-precious gemstone of this same blue-jeans color. Love your work. Thank you for the tutorial. Karen Rice on YT does a lot of landscapes and focuses alot on tips and tricks to make LSs appear to have lots of depth, just in case that is something you want to check out. Im not saying you should necessarily do anything different. Your work is wonderful.
I'm honestly loving these vids...thank you so much
Glad you like them!
I just love this painting, can't wait to try it. ❤
This is so beautiful - thanks so much for the tutorial and the generosity inviting us to sign it and sell , that's rare. Have subscribed and will definitely give this a try since I have sodalite 🙂
No problem! The art world as been kind to me and this is how I can give back :)!
Very Chinoiserie style painting.
Not familiar with the style name. Whats the artist name? Id love to look em up!
Chinoiserie is Chinese Style painting. The French who admired Chinese Painting have these painting copied and called them Chinoiserie. I have to agree with the style since your brush strokes reminds me of Chinese painting calligraphic strokes for landscapes.
Lovely painting. It would be great to actually see Hammy from time to time !
I put up a super short of the other cats for you, I gotta get one of the Ham!
Thanks for that ! I thought Harrison and Hammy were one and the same!
Love the delicacy of your painting here.

I love your videos too. Can you explain what you’re doing when you point the opposite end of the brush to the paper? Thank you!
Thank you! I use the back of my brush to put the paper flat. You dont want to use your fingers due to oils creating weird spots.
Really lovely! Thank you. I was surprised when you said the paper was 90 lb. I always thought accomplished watercolorists (which you obviously are!) only used 140 lb as a usual, and a minimum. (Beginner here.)
Thanks! I think the fact that the paper is 100% cotton and handles water a lot better. also fast and loose limited time seems to help as well.
@@AndrewBroussardWatercolors Thank you! That 'fast' is likely key. Painfully slow here. haha
Its ok. Its like learning an instrument, start off slow and practice
@@AndrewBroussardWatercolors Very kind of you to give so generously of your time. Thanks.
IN - danthrone
HAH-key brush.
Nice! In-danthrone and hake! Perfect.
What are you measuring when you lay your brush handle across your format?
Was I using the edge to flatten the paper? Sometimes I'll use the handle to compare vertical depths.
Thank you! And thanks for your fast & loose tutorial!
No problem! Enjoy!
Love it. Reminds me of antique toile textiles. Every time I scrape, it backfills. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks! With scraping theres 3 things to watch for.
1. The moisture level of the paper. When wetter the paper, more likely to backfill.
2. The size and shape of the scraping tole. Pointed will backfill unless it is barely damp. Rounded and wider scraping tools will be less likely to backfill.
3. Pressure. Pressure with wider and rounded tools really helps get a good white mark.
I can try and film a video on this if yall would like.
I would love a video on scraping!@@AndrewBroussardWatercolors
@@AndrewBroussardWatercolors You're such a generous guy. Why, you even answer people's questions!
Thank you! I love the painting community and love helping others!
@@AndrewBroussardWatercolors Thank you so much! This is wildly helpful.
How would you compare Sodalite genuine to Payne's Gray?
Personally, the sodalite is 💯 better. Paynes grey has way more of a tonal shift and requires alot more applications, and doesnt have the moody blue of sodalite
@@AndrewBroussardWatercolors Another color I'll have to add to my palette, then! Thanks!
